Sun. June 12th to the Family Reunion

Join us as we travel North America in our
Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006

Bright and sunny morning, we are up early computing and ready to hit the road. First we visit my cousin and her husband for a coffee and a nice breakfast, say our goodbyes and thank yous then on the road at 9:00am.
Nice drive
We have 101 miles (160kms) to travel thru Toronto, but it is a sunday morning and not much traffic. Two hours later we arrive at the farm, set up our coach then a short drive to the Tavistock Memorial Hall for the Stere Family Reunion. Suzie has a lot of people to talk to regarding genealogy and family updates.

Tavistock Hall
Welcome

This year the hall was set up for only 170 people and most chairs were occupied. A pot luck lunch with so many tasty dishes to choose from, not everybody can make it every year.

This renunion has been going on for many years and it is Suzie's Gramma's side of the family. She was originally a Stere and is the oldest of the three surviving sisters, 96 yrs old, from a family of thirteen children.

Lots of chatting with many people we haven't seen for a while, and some games and contests going on for a while it was busy afternoon.

Then back home, to our house, put up our feet, and relax, and watch a sunday movie, its been very busy the last 10 days. We are here for a couple days, Suzie can play with Omer for a bit, then on the road again.

  1. Only 170 people at the reunion. I don't think we have more than 50 relatives between us and that might be stretching things. Colin's Mom will be 97 this fall and she lives on her own and makes her own meals.

Usually over 200 at the reunion, my family maybe 20. Suzie's Gramma sold her house to move into retirement home 4 years ago, (she was lonely) now works there everyday folding laundry for something to do. Amazing how they do it!

  3. Nice to have a family reunion. Kevin's father's side of the family has had a couple, but the only one I can remember on my dad's side of the family was when I was 11 years old and we were in England for a visit. Suzie's grandmother is doing great at 93 as well as her 2 sister's.

Hope you can find more time to relax.

Relax, yes looking forward to it, open a book again. Our summers always seem busy visiting family and friends, more relaxing when we head south. (only 128 days!)
