Fri. Sept. 10th, 2010 New Hamburg

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August. 2006

This morning bright, sunny and warmer and all at the farm is busy as things are this time of year. The chores and milking starts the day, a bit of breakfast, the on the tractors and back in the fields harvesting corn for silage. I was sent to New Hamburg for a few groceries and a Timmies run (Tim Hortons Coffee). Then cruise the fields to deliver the coffee to the workers. A pot of chili was made for lunch whenever somebody had time to stop for a bite and Sandy could relieve them in the field.

Of course there is the occasional breakdown, with a quick repair then back on the fields.

After lunch Suzie went to New Hamburg to help her mother and gramma peel 50 lbs of potatoes for the potato salad she is making for Greg and Shelly's buck and doe here at the farm saturday night. They are expecting over 250 people so we hope the weather co-operates somewhat. While she was doing this I moved our coach out of the way of the party to the edge of the field. Then the rest of the afternoon putter about with a few things then supper was clean up the left over porkchops, ham, potatoes, veggies, and salad.

To explain a Buck and Doe for those not familiar with the term it is a pre wedding couples party, to celebrate and raise money for the couple getting married. Wayback when, there used to be a Stag for the men and a Wedding shower for the women. This one will have food, dancing, raffles, and a cash bar etc.....
