Much milder last night and still raining. So this morning, got the coffees consumed and check my email, Then we secured the coach and drove the very long drive (10 miles) to Suzie's brother's place and got set up by 10:30.  Chatted  with SIL Sandy for a bit , she is recovering nicely from her operation.
at least the rain has stopped.
I ran a few errands for us and Sandy after lunch. Then set up our satellite dish, awning and Weber Q. Very little wind and rain has now stopped. I prepared our pork back ribs and sauerkraut and set them on low  for a couple of hours. For that recipe clic HERE or check my recipe blog , top right sidebar look for Pork Ribs on the Q.
we quite comfy here on a mild day
Then outside to relax under our awning reading. Nice to be sitting outside enjoying our e-readers it did get up to 63F. And smelling these ribs doing their thing , oh my they smell so good.
once they are tender on the grill mat
to glaze with a tasty BBQ sauce

oh yum, fall off the bone sticky tasty ribs
sure hit the spot
That was it for another relaxing day, enjoying the milder weather again, some sunshine would make it perfect.
Thanks for taking the time to stop on by. Hope y'all had a great day as well.

Another summer like day here that we sure have to love.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic i enlarge it
The same weather as yesterday again today, cool overnight and a very warm almost sunny day. Only got to 82 F (27C), but with overcast skies not bad at all. And no rain as the weather gods had predicted. Not that we are complaining.
Got a few nice walkabouts done early morning as the temps increased, really enjoying this weather. A quick trip to Forest for a few needed groceries and home to putter around some more. A light tasty lunch and enjoying our e-readers out side in the shade.
wonderful right behind us in the square
a few trees are starting too change colour
so quiet and peaceful here
Then after a nice workout in our amazing fitness centre here I came home to prep our pork baby back ribs for supper tonight. As usual I spice them up and layer with a small can of sauerkraut, Wrapped in foil and our our Weber Q, low and slow for a couple of hours. For the recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right side bar.
love these small cans of Sauerkraut,
have only found them at Tops in New York
As I set the ribs on the Q Tucker dragged Gerry over , for a treat and a doggie fix for Suzie. And of course Happy hour.
yup Tucker is spoiled
snoozing on Gerry's lap
Then a few more people dropped by to be Happy with us, always a fun time to flap our gums and solve all the problems of the world. Never know who will stop by we are out here from 3 till 5 pm if the weather permits.
Even Maya and Walt made it here for Happy Hour
Walt stopped working time
Suzie has to get down to Maya's level to play
Then after a couple of hours our Pork ribs are nice and tender. Time to take the sauerkraut off and set them on our grill mat slathered with a mess of sticky BBQ sauce,  glaze them then they will be so tasty fall off the bone just the way we like them.
love the grill mat for this process
Ribs, kraut and our tasty salad, yummy? Yup
Now to enjoy another wonderful warm evening outside, post this blog and enjoy our e-readers for a while, again until it gets cool enough  to head on inside.
then a bit later we had a pretty decent sunset for where
we are camped no complaints here
Now this was a very decent late summer day. Hope you had a good on as well.
Here we are reading outside at 8:30 pm and still very mild and listening to the crickets and their symphony. Time to post this blog, read a bit and soon call it a night.
Thanks for taking the time to stop on by.

clic a pic to enlarge it
Yup it is a bit cooler today, overcast, but hardly any wind.
Did have an interesting sunrise just after 6 am then the clouds took over.
love the sunrises here
It was 50f most of the morning, but no problem a short walkabout, picked up a few groceries, light lunch and off to watch Grandson number 4 play his fast paced 4 on 4 hockey game at noon in the Ayr arena. They change shifts every 90 seconds and the puck never stops. Only a face off when a goal is scored. They won this game 8-6, he did very well. He scored at least one goal maybe 2 and had one assist. So nice to see our grands enjoy their sports.
4 on 4 hockey is so much fun
he spotted us here and gave us a wave
they all lined up on the boards ready to hit the ice
opposing team as well
Then home by 2 pm. I prepared some pork back ribs with sauerkraut to set on the grill about 3 pm.  For the recipe clic HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar. Love to smell them while we can enjoy our readers outside. Weather not too bad, partial sun this afternoon, just nice to be able to sit outside and read for a while.
we did have the sun poke through for a few minutes
Soon time for supper so whipped up a salad added some fresh bean sprouts for a change and a creamy cucumber salad dressing that Suzie enjoys we had a tasty feast.
our Weber Q doing it's stuff
so tender and glazed on the grill mat
with some tasty sticky BBQ sauce
ribs, kraut and salad was so tasty
Now supper and dishes done head on out to another hockey game at the Ayr arena for 7 pm. Just cause we can and are here. Grandson number one is on then ce for another quick paced 4 on 4 game. He is in grade 8 and lotsa good players on their team.
that is him right side
everry 90 seconds a shift change
4 off and 4 on the ice
very fast paced fun
they had a great game 10-5 against the
other team
What a fun hour we had, and some great fun hockey they had as well. Then time to head back home after more hockey excitement  2 of our grandsons.
Thank you for checking us out again and hope ya'll had a wonderful day as well. Looks like more of a cold front coming in tomorrow, but none of that white fluffy stuff in the forecast. So no matter what it will be another good day, chilly maybe but guess we need to put more clothes on !

Texas Bluebonnets and Indian Paint brush, Texas spring flowers

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Just another comfortable night for sleeping , windows open and a nice breeze about 60 f overnight. We have left the desert heat and now slowly working our way back home gradually  getting used to some cooler weather. Even though it was  88 f today we will be soon getting cooler weather.
Early morning walkabout toward the golf course here I spotted some Texas Blue bonnets right here, no need to go for my drive yesterday ! Not more than a couple of hundred yards from our site.
so amazing to see
these bluebonnets
We are early in the season but we have the Texas Blue Bonnets and Indian paint brush just starting to bloom.  Check some of them here  our even here if you care
Indian paint brush are red
indian paint brush
This afternoon we enjoyed just more of this amazing weather reading outside in the shade. A few walkabouts between chapters keeps us limber.
Then eventually time to think about supper. Tonight some grilled country style pork ribs that I marinated in the mix below for 3 hours.
We even ran our air-conditions for a  but , just cause we could , first the front one then thereat one for a while just to exercise them and make sure they were  working ok. Not that we really needed  to only 88f inside and will cool down as the sun sets. All is good so far. Gonna be another wonderful evening.
Now to whip up a salad, preheat the Weber Q 100 for 15 minutes, set the grill mat down on low and do what needs to be done. About  20 minutes later they were done to perfection, so tasty and tender and fall off the bone.
smells wonderful
added the rest of our coleslaw and had a feast,
again more leftovers,
easy lunches
That was our fun day enjoying every minute of these wonderful March weather that we can. Sure beats the cold back home! We will get there soon enough.
Now still outside at 7:30 blog posted and gonna read for a while just cause we can and the weather still good for shorts and sandals. Whats not to love about that?
Thanks again for taking the time to stop on by and really hope your day way a great one as well !

Where have we been this Winter

Thursday, July 21, 2016

Yup summer is here with a vengeance, but we got things done, kept cool in the shade and a fun dart night.

Where are we today ?
Clic on a pic to enlarge it
Starting off with a wonderful bright sunny morning and the beginning of a heat wave here. Feels like 41C = 106f) and 44 C =-111F tomorrow.) we will manage to keep cool in the shade, maybe a swim in the pool and may even need to fire up our air conditioner, nice that we have the power to do so now. I actually did turn it on for a while, the heat bothers Suzie much more than me.
Our friends Rob and Pat sent a few pictures of the Mini golf course when the construction had begun when we weren't here. It was looking pretty tired and needed an upgrade, coming along nicely, now useable but some more landscaping needs to be done.
open for business
looks better now
Before it got too warm I lubricated our automatic steps and cleaned and lubed our hydraulic levelling jacks which I do 4-5 times a year, maintenance pays off.
Then pick up a couple things at the store and a couple loads of laundry right across from our camp sight. Got to read for a while and chat with a few people that stopped by this afternoon, nice to catch up again. We had nice breeze and a shady spot outside so was quite comfortable as long as we not working.
Tucker stopped by with his Dad,
Doggie fix for Suzie
Its been a few weeks since I last trimmed my hair and beard. So I tackle that (always outside so no mess in the house) and Suzie can finish the trimming for me. Easy cheap and quick, works for me, no more hat head. Even had time to read for a while in the shade as well.
Shortly after 3 pm I spiced up pork ribs, layered with sauerkraut, wrapped in foil and on the Weber Q, low and slow, couple hours is about right, first in sauerkraut, then glaze with a sticky BBQ sauce on the grill mat. (the mat makes for easy cleanup) For the recipe click HERE or my recipe blog top right side bar. Then just add a small salad and we are good to go. Our friend Ron stopped by to chat for a bit while I was cooking the ribs. Snapped a few pics of me doing my stuff, lol.

At 6:45 tonight down to the clubhouse for a round of darts, every Thursday here in the summer, always a fun time for a couple hours, neither me nor Suzie won but we sure had quite a few laughs. Met some new people and also people we have not seen for a long time.
Suzie doing her stuff
nice sunset in the trees
That was it for a great hot summer day, overcast mostly, hot and humid but windy so in the shade felt wonderful.
Hope y'all had a wonderful day too, and were able to keep comfortable no matter what the weather.
