A very nice day, hanging out enjoying the warm sun and fresh air, perfect !

Where are we today ?

Much cooler last night 39F at 5 am but very little wind and a nice sunrise this morning as I got my first walkabout the campground. But with the sunshine feels really nice.
a nice sunrise to begin our day
this camper here runs a tiny Taxi business in the area
Just enjoyed this day and before noon I was in shorts again a nice 67F (19C) with a light north wind. Had a nice light tasty lunch then a drive to the Thousand Trails campground just up the road to check it out, just because I could, it is huge and a very nice park, in the woods and lots of facilities. Reminds me of our provincial parks back home, but with full hookups. Like to check out other places when we have time and we do.
love this cute tiny van
looks like a fun toy
nice roads through the bushes here
Now to relax in the afternoon sun enjoying our e-readers, chatting. discussing options we have and this wonderful sunny warm weather. Loving the clear blue skies and a few wispy clouds. They have free wifi at the clubhouse so Suzie whipped over there to do some updates on her I-phone and I-pad. No updates needed for me yet.
right into our page turners
enjoying this weather
no wind here at all very nice
Using the grill mat for the chicken with the marinade keeps it moist and grill clean.
chicken thighs and zucchini slices on the grill mat
Supper done and waiting for a sunset but after 7 pm I whipped down to the edge of the golf course (part of this park) and managed to get a couple of nice shots.
A very nice day we had , now just one more and we heading out of here for another adventure.
Glad that y'all dropped on by and hope you enjoyed your day as well.

Cooler, windy, laundry done and Lobster tails for supper with a wonderful sunset.

Where are we today ?

It was very warm overnight only got down to 67f so windows open and the lovely fresh air was wonderful. With the time change last night I slept in until  5:15 instead of 4 am. Still a decent enough early time, to enjoy the day. But now very windy 25mph from the north and overcast so no sunrise to see.
We just puttered around, reading computing I got a few short windy walkabouts then to the store down the road fill our 5 gallon RO water jug a $1.50 here but still cheaper than 3-4 bucks back home. Chatted with my sister on FaceTime for a bit, she had questions about their new class B motorhome they are picking up this week. I gave her some tips and they can do what they think is right.
Then a light tasty lunch and a couple of loads of laundry only $1.25 to wash and dry each with very soft water, wow did that get the whites white and colors bright. Right here in the park, the machines did the work while enjoyed finishing another book. Folded and back home Suzie puts it away. Teamwork.
Afternoon temps got to 70F but still windy with the sun trying to peek out. So I set to adding more books to my Kobo, with Suzie's help I sorted the books she has for me (that's Much Better, Thanks Suzie). I Loaded 9 more books new authors she recommends and only have another 345 books in my folder to read, will keep me busy for a while.
these skies most of the day
Soon time to whip up supper and tonight a treat we gonna steam the Lobster Tails we bought a while ago in Sierra Vista on sale 2 very nice sized ones for $7.97, an awesome deal, if we had more freezer space would have bought more. But then it would not be a treat.
Easy to do and cooks quickly today being the perfect day for this meal , over cast and very windy plus we have had this craving for a while. Tails prepped and steamed added some Ramen noodles with mixed veggies and a small salad. For the Lobster process you can click  HERE or my recipe blog or top right sidebar.
nice size tails
oh yeah getting hungry
getting ready to steam
just about there
steamed to perfection
now this was a feast
love Suzie's smile
oh so tasty
what a feast for less than
10 bucks for the 2 of us
After supper the sun came out and we gonna have a wonderful sunset from the looks of it. Got picture here and drove to the end on the road to check it out an did not disappoint.
sunset looks like it will be awesome
think it ended  up a a pretty decent day
after all
A pretty decent day we had got things done had an awesome meal and wound up with another amazing sunset. Nothing better than enjoying this wonderful lifestyle!
Glad that'll dropped on by and really hope you enjoyed your day as well.

It was very mild overnight windows open fresh air less blankets and at 4 am 62f outside wonderful! Not much of a sunrise , after a nice morning walkabout enjoying the morning quiet then by 9 am 75F and in shorts and t-shirt, Gotta enjoy this weather while it is here,  Tomorrow cooling down by about 20 degrees for the next while.
a few horses in the field around here just grazing
this be the best pic I got
nice an quite where they parked us

Whitney is in a semi dry county, they only sell beer and wine, so after lunch I made a short trip over the county line across the Dam and Whitney lake to check out the Liquor store.

Left here and check out the dam and lake right next door.

Then back home a few minutes later to enjoy our reading outside in the shade and this wonderful 87F (30C) weather . What a better way to enjoy this wonderful weather , relax in the shade and enjoy a good book with my sweetie.
Eventually after a few more walkabouts and more reading it was 3 pm our time for "Happy Hour" at this time we can discuss about out travels and future plans weighing all the options. A time when we can really discuss things, Outside reading with amazing weather in the shade.  Of course these plans are written and chalk and we will make changes as we go,  but the possibilities we have are endless.
interesting blue skies and clouds
ok you know it is hot when Suzie is outside in the shade in shorts!
whisps of clouds for a while
I finished one short book and began another quick read
The sun was getting too hot so we moved behind our coach into the shade, Even took this opportunity to exercise our air condioners for a bit, A nice workout for them. Use it or loose it.
enjoying the shade behind our coach
this was our temperature in the sun, no wonder it was hot!
Soon time to whip up supper before we know it. Tonight a turkey burger for Suzie and a nice spicy chorizo burger for me on english muffins warmed up in foil weber Q and a side salad to go right along wth it.
not long on the weber, just perfect
tasty , spicy and filling
After supper looking for a nice sunset but that was not to happen tonight, cloud cover rolled in but the temperature outside is still wonderful! Here we still outside reading and me posting the blog almost 7:30 pm and still 75 F (23C) ! will take all we can get right now, not looking forward to much cooler windy weather beginning tomorrow.
Also tonight we have a time change move our clock ahead one hour wow! So now I will probably wake up at 5 am instead of 4 am . My inner clock never seems to change for Eastern Standard time. Been like this for years.
Thanks again for stopping on by hope y'all had a wonderful day as well.

Just hanging out enjoying this wonderful weather and pot of chicken noodle soup.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
A great nights sleep as always (don't remember the last time that I didn't)  Up bright and early waiting for the sunrise, but a no show, not worth seeing it was overcast  and cloudy but warm in the low 50's to start the day. Right away I set the chicken bones on to simmer making a nice broth for our chicken noodle soup. I let them do their stuff then strained the bones added a bit more chicken and spices to simmer for another hour or so until it was just right.
a cloudy sunrise
While the soup did its thing I got myself a few few early morning walkabouts around this familiar Texas campground just enjoying the quiet and fresh morning air. Then a quick trip again for the rest of our food supplies , we needed, only a mile or so down the road to Dollar General and Brookshires.
now our soup was done and we enjoyed a tasty bowl
for lunch, few more lunches here yet
sure did  the trick today
A couple more walkabouts checking out the park , loving these warm sunny days.
a nice chapel here
Now most of our afternoon we got to enjoy in this wonderful sunshine 73F and we have a nice spot with no wind, perfect! Shorts today for sure.

Afternoon was a perfect day for shorts, no complaints here. this is why we are here.
enjoying our e-readers
full-time sites right behind us
all in sun shelters
Eventually was time to whip up supper, tonight gonna fry up a couple of cod fillets in our fry Daddy and even try a couple of ocean scallops as well. just because I can an we have some.
our fry Daddy does a great job
it all turned our perfect, perfect fish and the scallops amazing
We had planned to go to Waco and check out a few things and visit the Dr pepper museum again , but found out that this is March break here and they are excepting big crowds, think we will do it another time, Opps, last year we were here a week later, better planing next time, maybe. No problem we can just hang out here, it os so nice anyway.
Back in March 2012, (wow was it that long ago?), seems like yesterday,  When we were here we took a drive to Waco Texas and checked out the Dr pepper Museum, click this link HERE to read about it, sure was fun tour. Hope we can go back again!. They have done a lot of changes since then.

Where have we been this winter ?

Moving a bit further east and a bit south for a while, great travel day even though we missed a turn.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Hey we are at the Flying J travel centre this morning had a good sleep and got a few nice walkabouts this morning around the trucks and the buses.
Now I finally realized what 'I" love abut these  truck stops and rest areas. For most of my young life from the time I was about 6 till 17 yrs old, I hung out with my father ( a bus driver for 30 years) around the buses and garages, Then at 17 I began  working at the bus terminals in Toronto and Kitchener Ontario Canada. Selling bus tickets and dispatching these coaches. With, all the bus drivers and buses working in and around the diesel noises and smells.  Then I worked for many years afterwards in factories loading and unloading  trucks and dealing with the truck drivers, Before I followed my dream and opened my own restaurant in 1989 for 10 years. After the restaurant worked again in a factory loading and unloading trucks again.  Hanging around these places really brings back some wonderful memories from my past.
a bus load came in here this morning for breakfast at Denny's
Reliving my past at these places we finally hit the road at 9 am, again no rush supposed to be only 178 miles.
heading east on I-20 we just boogied  along,
dancing to the tunes on our satellite radio
Missed our planned turn to head south. No big deal we had a bonus found a wonderful new (to us ) rest area and tornado shelter. So we take a  new scenic route, love new routes !
what a wonderful place this is too
restroom shelter
this is it
very secure
Just a wonderful place to stop, even better with no tornado.
nicely set up
gas .19 cents a gallon, heck I remember .25 cents!
dam I am old!
really kinda cool
       Love  this rain catcher below.
what a great concept
A bit further east we head south finally off the interstate heading into Texas Hill country. wonderful 2 lane roads. Can't believe the speed limit here 75 mph !
love these back country roads ,making good  time
Couple of small Texas towns stopped for a train running through town love watching these guys take their time. are we in a hurry? Not !
watching the train so peacefull
Cruising right along we came across a nice picnic area to stop and make a nice tasty lunch, So quiet relaxing and peaceful , man this is the life!
a  very nice picnic spot
this be the place
Now moving right along enjoying the quiet Texas Hill country and wonderful scenery along the way.
nice town square
Eventually into Whitney Texas past a few neat places and finding our way to the campground .
Below is the entrance to the campground , have been here many times over the years, Have seen it go downhill and and with new owners very slowly getting back into shape. A membership park for us we  can be here for up to 2 weeks if we like no charge with full hookups. Nothing fancy but we like the area and we like free,
the road in
We have a very nice large pull through site , no complaints here, check in a set up by 1:30 pm lotsa time to enjoy the day and a week here. Finally off the road for a bit.
nice and sunny warm day 66f this afternoon,
and wonderful out of the breeze
lotsa room here
Once set up I whipped down the road to Brookshires for a few needed groceries and grabbed a 5.5 lb chicken to cook for supper, only $1.07 a lb we will get a few good meals out of that and a large pot of soup, Yummy.
Weber Q set up and chicken on,
now to relax in the warm sun enjoying our e-readers
shortly after 5 our chicken done, whipped up a salad
and had a feast
oh yeah love our chicken !
a bit of a sunset I was kinda late for it tonight
this was our planned route
this was the route we ended up on
only 10 miles further
a new route for us
so was even more fun.
No matter , our lifestyle is all about the journey, not neccesarily the destination, And today's journey was wonderful , now we can just hang out here and enjoy this area and pretty nice weather for a while,  before moving on down the road again.
Wanna thank y'all for following our awesome travels and hope the journey of your life takes you some interesting places as well
