Rainy day, getting things done a real nice change of pace.

Where are we today ?

Lotsa heavy rain overnight and still going pretty steady this morning. Large puddles everywhere no long walkabouts in the rain today. The pool is full to the top, lake level is up and the ponds that were almost dry filling up again.
When we are in this area and having storms we like to set up our tv antenna to keep and eye on local weather, they have amazing storm coverage. Now the bonus while taking in the local channels here is we get some tv we don't normally get and some of the old TV shows that we used to watch so many years ago.  Mostly westerns, (mostly black and white) with their settings that look mostly like the southwest desert and old western towns, no wonder we feel so at home there and love the desert. Shows like Paladan (Have gun will Travel), Gunsmoke, Maverick, Wanted : Dead or Alive, Bonanza, Raw Hide, The High Chaparral, Grizzly Adams, and more, we remember all theses shows,  guess we are older than dirt.
After a few groceries and a light lunch I took a drive around the campground just because I could too wet and rainy to walk and only 52F (11C)
our patio, nice to have a cement one
the pool is right full
right to the rim
lotsa water around
glad we are parked on cement
lots of water here today
compared to yesterday below
Patsy took this pic yesterday
hope you don't mind.
this dock is really high
noticed the bird on the dock
not sure what it is but nice to see
this pond pretty full
nice to see it runs out to the lake
Down by the far end a few birds trying to keep dry on this log in the water.
fishing hut up a bit higher and more water for the boat ramp

There is a great place to visit when in this area and we have been a few times, just not this time.

lots of neat buildings here
5 years ago we went to visit  Har-Ber Village here in Grove, with good friends Emil and Monique.
We have been there now 3 times over the years, such a wonderful place to visit when in the area. You can check out that posting HERE if you wish lots of real nice pictures.
I did get a nice walkabout  this afternoon between rain drops to have a game of pool with Me, and guess what I am not a great pool player at all but heck I beat me! No matter I had fun for a while trying to hit that white ball around the table.  Sure glad nobody there to laugh at me.!
balls racked and I ready to go
Ok I had enough  fun here and back home to spend time with my honey. We do enjoy our time together just the 2 of us.
Then at 3 pm we headed on over to Bill and Patys's for our last Happy hour together here. We will see them on down the road in  a few days again.
In their house today, not a great day for sitting outside with the cool temps and rain.
Suzie got her doggie fix with Clemson before
they leave in the morning
And while here flapped our gums sharing stories and tips like we do during these social times.

We did not want to overstay our welcome (they our heading out in the morning) so we headed on home to whip up supper.
For supper tonight Suzie had a craving for some Garlic Shrimp Pasta I have made before. And today is  great for cooking a meal inside. For that recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar. And after the prep was so quick, easy and tasty.
yum , garlic shrimp pasta, salad and a fresh kaiser bun
to share sure did the trick.
Supper done, dishes done and again no visible sunset to share, but I am sure we will get more in the near future, at least we can hope!
tonights non sunset
We actually had a nice productive day , getting some things taken care of  even if the weather was not perfect. We need this kind of days to get stuff done. Plus we enjoyed a nice social time with Bill and Patsy before they get back on the road a few days ahead of us.
Really glad that you stopped by to join us today and hope your weather was a bit better than ours.

Where have we been this winter ?

Sunday, April 02, 2017

Met some fellow local Rv'er's, enjoyed a wonderful lunch, came out ahead at the casino, and another very warm day.

Where are we today ?

Another wonderful night's sleep windows open and only down to 55 f overnight. As usual up nice and early waiting for daylight then a nice walkabout the park and by the waterfront  about 1 mile and half.Forecast today was cloudy and alight wind 8 mph and did get up to 77f this afternoon. We choose this route home for the evelation and warmer temps. Lower elevation equals warmer temperatures and we are at 774 ft about sea level here.
We had gotten a message from RVillage a social website for Rver's that we joined back in March of 2014. A busy and interesting network for all kinds of RV information. From a couple, David and Cheryl, that are part time rv'ers and happen have a house here in Grove OK. They welcomed us to the area and would like to meet us. They suggested meeting for lunch at the New Cherokee Casino just down the road maybe 1/2 a mile from us. Sounds wonderful so we set Sunday lunch and met them there, today was the day at a pre arranged spot by the restaurant. Meeting fellow rv'ers is always fun we all have so much in common even if we had different lives before. We all enjoy the good life.

We snagged a table and got to know each other over a 2 hour lunch. What a super couple. Had a few laughs and a pretty good lunch as well. They all had the blue plate specials, a hot beef, gravy with mashed and veggies but my choice I think was the better one Catfish, fries, excellent hush puppies(that I don't usually like) and tasty coleslaw.
excellent catfish
the hot beef, but not off the roast

what a super couple
Then eventually we parted company and hope to meet up again on down the road in our travels. While we were here got a players card card just because that's what you do with a new casino. Good deal . As new members we each get $10.00 free slot play. So heck why not?  We found  a couple of penny machines and tried our luck after about 45 minutes of fun, we ended up leaving there with $25.00 cash in our pockets spending none of our money, This paid for our lunch and we were still ahead by 10 bucks. Now that was a deal for sure and we got a free casino fix as well.
Home by 2 pm and still quite nice and warm out side. Chairs out to read, a few walkabouts and enjoy this 77 f  afternoon until about 6 pm when it cooled down to 72. Time to head inside anyway, the cloudy skies and the breeze was staring to feel chilling.
We have been in the area quite a few times over the years and visited some places we have enjoyed, no need to go back quite yet. One of our Favourites  is Har-Ber Village. So I looked up one of old postings to revisit. Have been there 3 times.
Back in November 2013 when we were here visited Har-Ber Village what a fun day it was and great place to check out. For that posting Click Here  .
What a fun day and still enjoying this excellent weather for a few days yet.
Soon time for tonights supper, and after that wonderful filling lunch we will share some popcorn and an apple. Works for us.
Thanks for dropping on by for a visit. Hope y'all had a great day as well.

Where have we been this Winter

Har-Ber Village, Grove, Oklahoma two postings today.

Where are we today ?

We are having a perfect warm sunny day and our plan is to visit Har Ber Village and Museum in Grove Oklahoma with our friends Emile and Monique. This is our third visit here but it is constantly changing and improving.
This museum was built as a gift to the public from Bernice and Harvey Jones of JTL (Jones Truck Lines) on Sept. 20th 1968 and is still growing today.
We chose today as it was nice weather and the last day of Pioneer Days. A great time we had with live demonstrations, and some music and lots of interesting period costume people here.
We walked the grounds for about three hours very hilly a good exercise for the day.

There is so much to see actually 102 buildings with endless displays of collections of all kinds.
Now this was Sister Elizabeth wanting to deworm everybody here today at the Drug Store promoting her Worm Destroyer. We listened to her interesting sales pitch and were given the cure so that we would not contaminate anyone else here.
