Where are we today?
Stratford, Ontario
George had a good sleep last night. We both did. The pain pump arrived at 10:30 last night. He will receive little bits of medication every 5-6 minutes. The pump is attached to his port where they have been administering his pain meds. He was very comfortable all night.
When he got up about 8, he wanted a scrambled egg, toast, orange juice and milk. To him, it seemed to take a long time to come, so he said to me "has the chicken died" and "did the chicken drown". The last comment was because we are getting a lot of rain today.
Then, about 11 today, he wanted a beer. I told him it was too early for that and agreed to wait until 2. A friend of ours texted me this morning wondering how George was doing. I told him the comment about the beer. He wondered how I could tell George that he couldn't have one until 2 to a face that George has. George got a laugh out of that and picture that came along with it.
George didn't want what was for lunch today, but his son was coming for a visit and brought his Dad 2 small hamburgers from McDonald's, another craving.
When Ken arrived, he gave George a card that our granddaughter made for her grandfather.

Later daughter Jess and family arrived. It was great to see the kids. George started talking about the RV and the work that has been done to it. Great over view.
Shortly after Jess arrived he looked at the couch and wondered whose dog it was. At a quick glance it does kind of look like a dog. We all got a chuckle.

"Did the chicken drown" Well George you got an honest laugh out of me when I read that tonight. With that appetite of yours I think they are going to have to bring in a whole flock of chickens. Our thoughts are with both you and Suzi.
ReplyDeleteROFL - I'm with Al "Did the chicken drown?" George's wit and humor show thru his hunger.

ReplyDeleteI am catching up on your blog and was concerned after reading the prior one.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear he is once again pain free and I am sure the visit from family helped a lot. Not to mention having you by his side.
Take care of yourself as well Suzie, I personally know the toll it takes being a caregiver for a loved one. Sending you both Cyber hugs.
Good report from what appears to have been a good day.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear he had better day and the pain was controlled. I'm sure that helps you a lot too. Prayers sent for the both.
ReplyDeleteToo funny about the chicken!! Any less-pain day is a good day. Granddaughter surely makes you both smile!
ReplyDeleteVery nice to have all the family visit that did! Your little granddaughter is just too adorable, quite the charmer! I'm glad George had a pain free day and they are figuring something out. That's cute he wanted a beer at 11! It would be hard to turn down though, good for you Suzie! Someone's got to keep him in line LOL. Prayers and hugs for you both!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good nights sleep and the pain is under better control. I agree with Suzie about 11 am being a bit early for a beer! but I could enjoy a champagne at breakfast occasionally. Thinking of you both.
