A few chores done and the day just flew by!!!

Where are we today ?
Today began with a beautiful sunrise and just got better by the minute. How can you beat that? The usual, coffees, computing and when the sun comes up walkabouts the desert here.
wonderful sunrise
No plans to go anywhere today, so I can get a few things done around here. First project that sparked my interest was to install some new cup holders on the side tables of our lawn chairs. Back at Pilot Knob resort ( a week ago) someone had thrown two worn out chairs by the garbage dumpster. They were not much good but had two cup holders that were just what I have been looking for. So grabbed them and set them aside, (yep thats me dumpster diving!).
Made a template, remove th old ones I put on couple years ago that were too small. Traced a pattern I made and cut the proper opening with my dremel (love that tool).

dremel did a great job
new cup holders work awesome, Suzie happy!
Now while I had my Dremel out I worked on our Weber Q. I have noticed that the flame is not as even as it used to be and it is not starting as good either. So with a teenie, tiny tapered bit I had, I proceeded to ream out each and every hole in the burner. Seems a bit of rust and BBQ sauce had accumulated and was restricting the gas flow.
A few minutes later all was good and clean, now it fires up and even flame just like a brand new Weber Q.
Next on my agenda make up a Pasta salad for a pot luck on Saturday at "The Ranch". Never been there but looking forward to this great celebration, more to come later.

In the shade we got to enjoy our books for a couple hours on a pretty hot day, getting warmer every day. 78f tomorrow, and thats pretty hot here with no shade,  and not clouds, but at least it is not humid and no bugs.
Walkabout later I spotted a couple nice sand rails down by the hot springs, they stopped here to refresh after fun time racing about the desert. They have desert/street tires on as opposed to sand tires.

this one 500 horespower
Now as the day progressed I made a bunch of "pigs in blankets". Small smoked sausage wrapped in pillsbury crescent rolls for nibblies at happy hour.
almost gone
We managed to get an almost nice sunset again today. Before heading home to fire up our Weber Q.
and a nice sunset
Tonight the last of our Canadian Garlic farmers sausage, acorn squash and grilled potatoes.
had enough Pillsbury crescent rolls to have
one each with our supper too.
There ya go, hanging out in the desert, no where we wanted to go, but busy all day long, where did the day go? Just having way too much fun here.
Thanks again for stopping on by hope ya'll enjoying your lifestyle as much as we are .

  4. Can I borrow you for a couple nights to come and cook supper here?? I've tried to get Ken to take some cooking classes, but he insists why should he learn when I do it so well. Yeah right. I'd love a break now and then.

    1. I enjoy cooking so much and find it fun. Also keep me busy being creative as well.
I took no classes just kind of a hands on person, I like to cook so opened a restaurant, people came and enjoyed the food.
Now still enjoy it, but not for everybody.

  5. The desert sure is a great place to spend the winters. I don't think many would disagree with that. With your little Weber you seem to master it all.
