Sunny warm day, Ma's final resting place and a hockey game , we sure got around today.

Where are we today ?

Weather is getting better and more sunshine that's what we love ! No rain ,no clouds plus sunshine temps up to about 60 f (15C) not too shabby with clear skies, A cool breeze but we can deal with that.
A bit of a walkabout this morning down the road by the Nith river, flowing pretty good after the rains we had.
Suzie got her chair out to enjoy the sunshine while I was out and about.
Eventually we had a light lunch then head to the Cemetery in Breslau for my Mother's internment. This be the place where Mom will be interned with her son, My younger Brother as well as her Brother our Uncle.
so right about Ma on her urn
There she is now together with her son(my brother) who died way to young
and Ma's Brother Uncle Leonard Reader
a nice quiet gathering with a few fitting words
were said for Ma.
Finally at Peace.
Then we gathered in front of the tree Ma had dedicated for her son and brother to have our pictures taken just because we could. We have so many memories and pictures of all the good times we all had together.
Ma had this tree and plaque dedicated in 2000
LR, SIL Sherry, Brother  Chris, Sister Louise, BIL Paul, Nephew, Rob ,
His wife Emily, then Me and Suzie in the front
After this we all headed our separate ways home, we back to Plattsville, to putter around in this lovely warm weather. We dragged the 200 foot water hose out from the house to top up our fresh water tank. Read in the sun and shade for a bit then time for supper.
love the scenery here and so quiet
Supper tonight a couple of pan fried cat fish fillets we brought back home from the USA, grilled a 1/2  a lemon this makes it real juicy!
added to our salad was excellent
Supper done dishes done and at 6:30 a short drive to the AYR arena to watch Grandson number 1 play hockey. This is very fast passed hockey 2 teams, 4 on 4 for 48 minutes, The clock does not stop and neither does the play, every 90 seconds a buzzer goes off and the players change shifts, They get a 90 second rest then back on the ice again. The puck never stops.
there he is  with the yellow socks
right in the action
It was a fun game and no dull moments that's for sure. Too bad they were defeated this time 10 to 7 but they sure put up a good battle, they all had a good workout and a great time as well.
heading back home just after 8 pm almost caught the sunset
No matter we had a good day, enjoying the weather, finally putting Ma to rest with some of the family, enjoyed a fun hockey game as well.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a peak hop y'all had a great day as well.

Remembering my Mother (Ma) Vera Jean Yates, Rest in Peace.

Where are we today

Ma this posting is for you

A sad day for us here in the California Desert and all of our family. We got a phone call from my sister Louise early this morning that you had passed away in your sleep. You are now at rest and I think it is a blessing. You have been in an extended care facility for almost a year and this was one place that you never wanted to go to.  Now you can reunited with your son Don, my oldest younger brother and your Brother Leonard. Now in your 90th year you have lived a pretty full long life, much longer than any of the other family members. Too bad the Alzheimer's had to grab hold of you and take you down.
We have so many good memories of all the years in the past, and the not so good ones have gone by the wayside. Great times together your moving to Waterloo and closer to us for close to 25 years. all the things I was able to help you with around the house, and computer stuff, the visits to my restaurant and our house, visits with the Grandchildren and with your great grandchildren, the hockey games, soccer games, camping trips and so on. The help and support you gave me over the years with my troubled times. You will be missed but the good time will be in my memory forever.
You have always been a very independent, strong willed  woman and did a great job raising my 2  much younger brothers Don and Chris on your own.
Just a few pictures of  you and us together helps and so many hundreds more that I have.

We were lucky that Chris and Lou were there with you at Christmas and we did get to see you and wish you Merry Christmas on a FaceTime video.
You well know that Suzie and I are very happy with our lives and are enjoying a lifestyle wandering about as nomads, something that I inherited from you. An you wished you could do.
Hoping you are now in a better place glad that you are no longer suffering.
Love ya Ma, and hope you have a computer up there to continue to follow our travels.

        Until we meet again.

We have booked a flight home from Phoenix arriving Sunday evening. For your service and celebration of your life on Wednesday.

Happy Birthday Ma, 89 yrs young !

Where are we today ?

A bit cooler this morning but still a wonderful early morning walkabout. We have a plan today . It is my Mom's Birthday she is 89 years young. And we gonna visit her at the long term facility in Lindsay about 45 minutes away, along with my Brother Chris (wife Sheri), Sister Louise (husband Paul). They now live close by and can visit her more often, Chris Baked a chocolate cake, and Louise brought some Gluten free cupcakes and nice decorations, to Celebrate her birthday ,all of us together. Ma likes that.
We all arrived shortly after 10 am, set up a nice small room and brought her in to celebrate. The cards, gifts, cake and Happy Birthday songs, the staff here sang Mom Happy birthday at Breakfast too, a very nice facility.
Brother Chris Baked Mom's cake
she requested Chocolate Cake
Ma and me
Chris, Louise, Me and Ma
Getting the cake ready
she blew out all the candles
Nice new sweater for her
more smiley faces
That's us the whole  bunch
Then we outside for a while, some fresh air and chat with a few people out there as well. Met a retired Gray Coach Bus Driver he is 92, and we probably met way back in the 60's and 70's when I worked there, small world. Of course we are all much older and hard to remember that far back.
What a very nice visit with Ma and my siblings on her birthday for a few hours. But was 12:30 time for her to head in for lunch. So we said our goodbyes and headed on home.
Back here about 2 pm, light bite to eat and checked out the slow cooker. The Wild Turkey breast is smelling wonderful and just slowing making all those flavors blend together.
Chillier today than the last few only about 70f  and had a few rain drops here while we were gone. A walkabout the park and read for a while then time to assemble supper. Just boiled a couple taters and steamed some fresh broccoli to add to the tasty Turkey, carrots and gravy. For the Wild Turkey in the slow cooker click HERE or my recipe blog on the top right sidebar.
sure was tasty
The Turkey was awesome and of course we have leftovers that will be enjoyed sometime soon, or frozen, maybe lunches...
A cooler day but good for a day trip to visit Ma on her birthday.
          Thanks for stopping by.
