Had another great day for some reason full of energy.

Where are we today?
Stratford Ontario
After another very good nights sleep. 7 great hours from 8:30 pm until 3:30 am. Here I am 3:30 in the morning and raring to go full of energy, oh it feels good. Just now here to go, so fired my Mac Book , checking e mails, blogs etc, cereal, O juice and a coffee, maybe snooze in a bit later but did not today.
A few wheel about the halls chatted with a couple nurses then 7:30 an chatted with Mike in the Kitchen. One piece of toast,1 egg and one slice of bacon to add a bit extra fuel to my tank.
what beautiful Suiting sign from Joe and Nelly
Thanks guys
a bit more fuel
love Mikes signs Lunch and supper
The nurses started their new shift and at 7:30  I asked them for an early shower today and they did. Wanted to get that outta the way before company later the morning. All showered, shaved and rubbed down with moisturizer (for my day skin). Before 8:30 now I am brand new and even more
ready for what the day brings on. A few texts from Suzie and daughter # 2 Jess, keeping in touch, cause we can.

Then a 10 am a good friend Joe came by for  nice visit from Rock Glen Resort, ( Nellie could not make it today) catch up and wish us a Merry Christmas before they head south to some warmer weather. AND brought us this wonderful sign about camping and our life style that pretty well says it all.
thanks guys love the sign says it all
Joe and me almost ready for the beach
We headed down for lunch as Joe headed home and I enjoyed a couple my favourites today hot dogs with my usual mustard, relish, ketchup and peanut butter did the trick today relaxed.  Abut then a nice social visit with our minister. Always nice to see her when she has time.
no HD buns but this does the trick. like Hot Dog and like peanut butter
why not put them together?
Happy hour started at 2:30 with this tasty brew
watching the Tow trucks we both enjoy that show
Watching a new TV show about the highway from Hell with huge tow trucks getting tractor trailer trucks etc, out of ditches and so on real life accidents and how these tow trucks manage.

I have had a few ask why this crown hanging is in the window. So today a close up. A nice Christmas curation I have had for years and hang it in the window, just because I like it and can.
Always like theis Christmas time.
Suzie headed home about 4:30 and by 5 my tasty supper came along with another tasty beer to go with it.
Another tasty craft beer
Supper was roast pork, broccoli w/cheese, whipped potatoes, my salad and a fresh baked sugar cookie still warm right of the oven.
an excellent supper once again.
Now time for me to wrap up this posting and relax for the evening. Glad that you dropped in and hope you enjoyed your day as well. A cold one out there nice to stay here inside pretty cozy out there it is 17F (-10C) brr.

Nice visit with an old friend on a miserable day.

Where are we today?
Stratford Ontario
Happy Saturday still sleeping pretty good more like I used to sleep sleep fast and good from about 8 :30 until 3;30 am wake for a while a short snooze then raring to go before 6 am. After a bits cereal and juice.

My water pills and leg wrapping seem to be helping the swelling has gone down a bit in my legs and can actually see my ankles, much improvements here is a good thing.

Then by 7:30 am day shift came in got my meds into wheel chair and headed out cruise around  and around noticed it was beginning to snow . Calling for light snow off and on all day. Grabbed  piece of toast and 1/2 a bacon sandwich because I could and was tasty.
wild blueberry and Raspberry jam was excellent
Expecting company 3 couples at some point but they all had a distance to travel depending on the weather. 2 couples cancelled, snow and bad roads. maybe tomorrow but my old Buddy Jim and Christine  arrived right on schedule at 10 am  a 2 hour back country drive for them.
we enjoy lunch in the dinning room Soup and pastries
for them me egg salad, and French Canadian Pea soup
I have written about Jim before, we went to public and high school way back when and still keep in touch, had a wonderful visit, we enjoyed with them just the 4 of us and before we knew it 4 hours flew on by, time for them to head on back home, he tires out as well as I do after his triple by pass a month ago and this is his second trip here to visit with us. We enjoy a light lunch in the  dinning room  soup and pastries available for them  I enjoyed a 1/2 egg salad sandwich with tomato and some French Canadian pea soup a favourite of mine hit the spot. This is a soup I love and have made a few times, my homemade  version is healthier ( the recipe is HERE or my recipe blog  top right side bar)  but my only option here is and old standby from Habitant,
Christine and Jim
Just before 2:30 pm, time for a cold beer because I could, Suzie and I both did some computer stuff and chatted, then shortly after 4 headed in time to make her supper.
a tasty craft Beer cousin brought from Ottawa Ontario
then with dinner at 5:30 a very tasty beer
from Italy Thanks to BIL Brian
Dinner tonight was a very yummy meal I enjoy. Chatting with the cook Micheal the other day I suggested maybe shepherds pie for a change and wow that's what we had,  oh so good. added a caesar salad Suzie brought for me (a mix) really hit the spot , have ben missing my salads.
oh so tasty it was and they even threw in a Butter tart for desert
That was it for another great day visiting with a good buddy and catch up over the years is always fun And of course all this tasty food  made right here, so person when they only have 8 patients to cooks for.

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit hope y'all had a good one as well.

New camera YEAH ! and a nice visit from a longtime friend

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Just another wonderful sleep last night, windows open and so peaceful here after a busy day and a busy week at Bill and Patsy's on the Ridge. Did have some rain overnight that I did not hear it (as usual) but filled my rain bucket.
First walkabout town for just over a mile then home to stop by Daughter Number 2s to drop on the i-phone our grandson left at the Moto Cross camp last week. I am sure he misses it!
nice walkabout town and make just the mourning doves
cooing in the trees
Daughter #2 met at the front door, at 9 am the house is still sleeping, Nice to see her again and our newest grandauther.
soon time for her to go for a nap
From here I headed in to Kitchener to get a new digital camera. I have really loved the other ones, so rugged, dust proof, drop proof and waterproof to 15 feet., Easy to use and take pretty good pictures for a point and shoot. This one is the same as my last two, (just an newer generation) that have taken well over a million pictures over the years and small enough to just stick in my vest or pockets and snap pics whenever I want.
the same as the last two , just a newer version
now I have 3 chargers and 3 batteries and lots of sd cards
should be good for a good while again
Taking a few pics to see how it works and I like the quality of these pictures again.
I got back home by 11 am and was expecting a very good friend of mine to come and visit, it has been well over a year since we last saw him at my mom's funeral. We have both been busy (being retired) and was nice that he could take the 2 hour drive here to catch up . Jim is into fishing (with Muskie Canada) and hunting moose and bear.. Not something I do but he has done for years.
here comes Jim down the road
We have been friends since our early teens, and did so many things together from working on cars with him, and working on the cars we had back then even before we are old enough to drive. So many memories from back in the 60's.
this be Jim looks the same as always
just a little greyer like me
that be us us buddies for over 50 years
Growing up in the outskirts of Toronto (Scarborough) we worked on bicycles, walked and enjoyed our parents fresh baked cookies for us and we were inseparable for many years .
Worked on our cars together he had a couple and I had many. the first big project was the 1956 ford my grandfather gave me when I was 14 years old. It ran pretty good but need some TLC. I had 2 years to get it all together before I could get my driver's license at 16. So we set work tearing it apart, lotsa body work new fenders, rocker panels quarter panels, trunk floor, new clutch, engine work , brakes, new dual exhaust (loud hollywood mufflers), and finally a nice paint job. wish I had it now !
this was partway into the rebuild
this was the finished product, loved this car
When the car was done and i got my driver's licence on my 16th birthday, Jim and I cruised around Scarborough, A&Ws and so on, on the friday and saturday nights , and a few trips to Wasaga Beach, cruising for chicks on the beach, thats what 16 year olds did back then. We did not drink but would stop at the A&W pick up a gallon of root beer and carry on, We had fun.
Then later that first summer we went to the CNE in Toronto and cruised around the CNE grounds having a ball. Actually picked up a couple of girls and that was it for me. The girl I hooked up with eventually ended up being my first wife 2 years later. We had 2 children and a busy life as I worked and worked too much, (bought 2 houses by the time I was 21). Then that ended, but Jim was still there, I least I have 2 beautiful children that are now amazing adults and have given us some wonderful grandchildren.
Well we really caught up with our lives and over 3 hours later it was time for him to head on back home again. Promising each other that we will keep in touch and try more often, we are not getting any younger.
now we enjoyed our e-readers for a while and took a few more pics
playing with my new camera
Soon time for supper, so grilled a nice porkloin  roast on our grill mat about 30 minutes to 145f internal temp. was very tasty. As I was prepping the salad the sun was shining and we had a heavy rainfall for a but 5 minutes.
nicely glazed
added to our salad and some apple sauce, was perfect
It was pretty good day and hot for most of it but we had shade. so nice to see Jim again and we will have to make a point of getting together more often.
After supper and dishes outside reading and posting this blog until almost 9 pm. Soon time to call it  a night.
Thanks for dropping by for a peek.
