A nice sunrise then a cold wet windy day, but we kept ourselves busy cozy and warm inside.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
After a fun busy day yesterday and we had a wonderful sleep,  Another cold one and 34F (1 C) at 5am. So I hopped outta bed turned on some heat, had my oatmeal and coffees, along with some computing, and the beginning of a nice sunrise. Not windy and thinking about a nice walkabout, but nope, the predicted rain began and looks like it could be all day long. So I took a wet country drive into and around new Hamburg checking out things that have changed. Always things changing.
nice sunrise through the trees
after chatting with her Dad we
 followed them to Stratford
Then home to putter around for a while commuting and purging some pictures then we headed into Stratford with her Dad, Brother and Sandy for lunch at Swiss Chalet her Dad's favourite restaurant . Dennis, Sandy and her Dad are going to visit their brand new family addition. at the Stratford hospital,  Greg's (Dennis and Sandys's son) and wife Shelley just had another baby Girl, Meredith Brooke 8 lb 5 oz. third girl for them and another great grand baby for Suzie's Dad.
At Swiss Chalet I wanted to try something a little different for a change so today an entre salad Sweet Heat Salad, now this was amazing!, chicken breast with a tangy Thai sauce, fruit and veggies all tossed with a Kiwi Lime dressing, oh my this was heaven and quite filling.Suzie had her usual 1/4 chicken dark meat, baked potato and small caesar salad tasty as usual..
this was a huge amazing salad
no more plastic straws filling the landfills,
these are old style cardboard
We headed home after making a quick stop at Walmart,  man was it cold 34F wind gusts to 34MPH making it feel like 23F  (-5C). And still drizzling, no sunshine all day, did I say it was cold? Yes its cold. Glad we have our Blue flame heater keeps us toasty inside. Plus our coach is well insulated with dual pane windows, perfect to keep the cold out or very hot weather. Only slightly warmer tomorrow and maybe some sunshine that will be better, by Thursday will be wonderful again for a bit we hope.
still drizzly cold and windy
Now a bit later it really got windy the two pictures below are of these same trees, yup we can even feel the wind in our coach a bit too, it is pretty solid.
we could really hear the wind now
A relaxing afternoon , reading , computing and watching a Sunday afternoon movie, just like we used to do on the cold winter days in our house here. No supper tonight after that excellent lunch, maybe a popcorn snack later on.

I got a message from daughter #1 that our Grandson #3 (13 years old) has got back into writing his blog again. This time a renewed interest in cooking.  He is a fun guy and his brain always thinking . This posting is about experimenting making pizzas with all 3 of his recipes posted as well as a fun video. If you care to check it out and even make a comment I am sure he would be thrilled. you can read his blog HERE. Dave's Adventures on my Blog List right sidebar.

Glad that you dropped on by today and hope your day was much warmer than ours was.

Where have we been this Summer ?

Oooppps, guess I shoulda.

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enlarge it
Well I am not saying it was cold last night but..... got up this morning  at about 4:30 as usual and no water? Hmmm water pump is turned on can't hear it running and no water pressure. It was -10c (14F ) and the compartments are heated somewhat from our furnace, but.. I turn the thermostat down to 50 f at night (to conserve our propane and a get a good night's sleep), so I guess not enough heat got down there.
a wonderful sunrise this morning, love it !
So when the sun came up (to a beautiful sunrise and no snow) I took my trouble light with a 60 watt bulb and plugged it in, dropped it and broke the bulb. Oopps again, but I did have a spare, put in by the water pump and was thawed out in about 2 hours, but still no water. Ok, got out our small ceramic heater and put it down there, on low. We have a 200 foot 15 amp extension cord for power, it will not run on high. 30 minutes later we have water and no leaks. Whooppee !
Then picked up a few food stuffs for tonight's supper and 2 more light bulbs. I need the old style incandescent, that are very hard to find now , everything is energy efficient. Yes they use more power because they give off heat and that's what I want. Found them lucky me.
After a light lunch Suzie went to visit her Dad in the Stratford Hospital and hopefully they will let him loose tomorrow. When he gets outta there and is settled, we will go somewhere, not sure where, that remains to be seen, not too far though. While she did that I whipped up the the Wilmot Rec Centre and got a 3 mile boring walk done on the inside track. 36 laps, better than not walking and much warmer.
For supper tonight a home made pizza with our favourite Cauliflower crust click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar of this blog. Used this huge 2 dollar cauliflower I picked up yesterday at the St. Jacob Farmer's market. This was topped with Turkey Pepperoni, Ham, onions, fresh mushrooms, green olives and jalapeno peppers on my half, then topped with tomato slices after it came out of the oven to cool down a bit.
cauliflower crust ready to dress
Then while the pizza was cooking we had weather! Hmm what's with this white stuff? But apparently the weather gods tell us it will turn to rain later tonight and get above freezing. Wow, now that's a good thing.
hmm . not nice, but not will go away soon
But the best thing right now is our Pizza is smelling wonderful in our coach and in a few minutes will taste awesome!
love this cauliflower pizza crust,  so light and gluten free
as well,we don't need gluten free, but.. its healthier,
so they say
That was our not so exciting day, always something to do to keep life interesting. This should be our last cold snap for the season according to the weather Gods, but ya never know. We will take it as it comes. Do we have a choice?
Thanks for stopping by again hope you had a wonderful day too !

" Update, just after I posted this blog we are having freezing rain" lets see how this pans out.

In this many days we will be heading south again

Cold, sunny and the St. Jacobs Farmer's Market

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enlarge it
Yep its cold -6c (21f) at 7am, but at least pretty sunny most of the day. It did get up to -2C (28F) but felt much colder with NW wind. But with the sun shining and a few layers of clothes did get out for a walkabout by the river and the yard here, 5 acres of lawn just waiting to be mowed in the warmer weather.
way back there we are
Wandered up to the Arena and a hockey tournament going on. Preva Cup, I believe it is volunteer firefighters from around the area compete and of course there is food, adult beverages, entertainment and dancing as well in the hall upstairs. Did see a woman that I know Bonnie, her husband Pete was playing. Met the them when they moved to town 1994 at my restaurant and camped with them couple of times, years ago. Nice to chat again.
After a light lunch Suzie went to visit her Dad in Stratford hospital and he is doing well. While she did this I hopped in the car to cruise the countryside destination St Jacobs farmer's market, just cause I could.
This market is always busy
Mennonite lady selling Maple syrup
At the market and going to brave the crowds for a while.
busy place?  yep
Now this place is  zoo even in the winter, even vendors outside in this freezing cold weather. I waited in line for our Turkey sausage just in time to see the last of the fresh sausage being sold, but there  has some frozen in 1lb bags. We love this Turkey sausage, so got 2 lbs of garlic and 1 lb of Maple Turkey sausage to try , that is supposed to be wonderful. Also picked up a large head of cauliflower for 2 bucks. Cauliflower pizza is one the menu soon !
No pics of the poultry vendor just too crowded, but got what we wanted.
these outside vendors must be frozen !
picked up a large head of cauliflower here for 2 bucks
tours here too would be kinda cold I think
Now head back, fuel the car and the parking lot is cleared of snow, ready for more tomorrow.
nice back roads back home
Below is  what I bought today, large cauliflower 2 bucks and 3 lbs. turkey sausage 15 bucks ( good for 6 meals and tastes amazing!
got some great food here
Back home shortly after Suzie 3:30 pm, chatted for a bit, I  repackaged the sausage and read for a while, then time for supper. Tonight, turkey garlic sausage (in the fry pan not my Weber Q :<( ) and a salad. But  still very tasty. Love this turkey sausage !
the garlic sausage was amazing !
Now the weather gods have predicted -10c (14f) overnight and 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches) of snow tomorrow. Guess we'll find out if they are correct ( hope not ). Glad we got our furnace repaired in Quartzsite this winter and we have our Mr. Heater. We are toasty warm here when we come inside.
an early sunset, too cold to go out agaiun
Love that you stopped by again and hope you are in warmer weather than we are, but hey summer is just around the corner right?. First corner we hope !

Snow ! hmm... this is supposed to be spring. What gives?

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enlarge it
Cool last night, but that's ok, it's gonna get colder before it warms up next week. Mother nature is playing cruel tricks on us. We came back here a month ago and it was warm and sunny then we had very cold and snowy weather. We went back down to Arizona to enjoy some heat and sunshine, slowly made our way back here on a very nice sunny day. Woke up this morning to cold, snowy weather again! hmmmm.......

No walkabout today in this yukky cold weather, but did take Suzie to her Dad's for 9 am so she could take him to the hospital in Stratford for some kinda minor surgery. I got some grocery shopping done and a few more errands then back to Camp Awesome.
is this the birth of a baby tire?
saw this at Pettigrew's Garage
I got some quality reading done on a quiet afternoon, looking  out at the (wonderful?) snow covered landscape. Toasty warm in our coach.
Love our Mr. Heater
Our Mr Heater is getting a good workout, we turning the furnace on once in awhile if it gets too cold out to keep our water tanks and water pump from freezing and of course keep our kitchen slide in as well or the water pipes will freeze out there if it gets too cold and it will this weekend.
yep our house is out of it's element
the view from our dining room window,
 much prefer the desert
For supper tonight a I found a soft Taco kit that will work with some of our leftover chicken,
Suzie got back here from Stratford by 4:30 pm after her Dad's surgery that went very well. She will check on him in the morning and maybe he can come home.
Then time for supper, more of our leftover chicken (sure glad we love chicken,)  Tonight some chicken soft tacos and a salad. The craving was there and sure hit the spot!
was actually very tasty,
probably do it again
Now that was a pretty good productive day, got things done that needed to be done and we don't need to travel very far for a while. But then again  that can change too. Sooner than later would be wonderful.
Glad that y'all stopped by and we are done most of our winter travelling once again, but things can change here everyday with this lifestyle. Some summer travelling would be nice. I have ideas but timing will maybe make things work, we will see. We are ready and we are capable to move our house at a moment's notice.
Hope you had a great day too, hopefully warmer than here.
we heading back south soon!

More fun hockey stuff and the temps are about even, F and C, that's not great.

Where are we today ?
New Hamburg Ontario Canada
First thing this morning heading into Plattsville, Grandson number 4 has a hockey practice at 8:30 am. But when I opened the door notice we had a few inches of snow overnight, yuk!
No problem fired up the snow blower after brushing off the car and quickly cleared the driveway and sidewalks.
not a great drive
Checked out the practice and chatted with his dad and daughter number 2 for a bit then back home to pick up Suzie for the the 10:30 game for Grandson number 1.
Back for the game and it was awesome. They defeated the New Hamburg Team 4-1
, first time this season !
Drive back to New Hamberg not great either, but we take our time and made it safely.
We had abite for lunch then Suzie and her Dad headed into the hospital to visit her Mom. I puttered around for a while did some more snow blowing and actually had time to whip around the corner again for a bit. Indoor track I did 1.5 miles today before I ran out of time. That's 18 laps on the indoor track not real exciting but better than not walking.
Worked out great when I was done Suzie heading back home, I began making supper. For me a pan fried catfish fillet with a light coating of roasted garlic and butter fish crisp. Fried in coconut oil and a bit of EVOO so very tasty.
excellent fish
great for the fish
Suzie's breaded chicken with broccoli and cheese
Just taking it one day at a time to see how things go.
But ya know tonight gonna be COLD!! This is getting ridiculous gonna feel like -42c tonight and ya now that is -43 f way too cold for us snow birds, actually too cold for any of us.
-42c is -43F
At least we are toasty warm here, nice fire place, warm quilts and each other, we doing just fine.
Just wanna thank ya'll for stopping by again and any warm pics of your southern places are more than welcome. Spring will soon be here right?
