Rainy, laundry, coach almost stuck and moving to another site.

Where are we today ?

More rain again last night and this morning for a while. So no early morning walkabout in the rain. But we had a plan our last day here, was to laundry.
love this site but has not dried out in 3 weeks
So Suzie sorted the laundry all including our sheets. I went to the laundry in to to get that done. only 2 machines here in the park and we needed more. Into town to get that done and let the machines do their magic. I can read in the car and when I thought it should be done I checked and hmm. The power was out for 20 minutes so it was delayed. Finally back home shortly after noon for a late lunch.
Next was on our list was to see if we could get our coach off this site. Too much rain  and our rear tires were in deep mud. Talked to the friendly maintenance guys here John and Mark. They agreed to bring over some boards for us to pull out on.
with this mud I know from experience that we will be stuck
I put more blocks under our jacks and raised the coach enough to put these boards under our rear tires.
this should do the trick and it did
I pulled the coach out no problem now, Suzie taking our blocks out from under the jacks and we moved to another much drier site. We are leaving tomorrow morning. Nice to get this done today and now Suzie can have a good nights sleep. She has been worried about this for a while now.
digging our levelling blocks out of the mud
John and Mark put these boards down and I drove right out
thanks so much guys
Only moved a few hundred feet to a much drier site, for the night, No more mud. We do like our site but with 3 weeks of rain it did not dry up like it usually does. And we have used this site fo 13 years now and never been this wet.
we were there beside the white trailer
at least we are out of the mud  a nice site
We moved stuff over and got all set up, does not take long. Paul stopped by and helped us drag a few things over, he went for walk and came back to join us for Happy Hour.
chatted with Paul for a while then
soon time for us to whip up supper
here we are
When I went to town today I picked up a couple of these breaded pork cutlets for supper tonight . We do enjoy these and usually make our own, But for a good price a quick easy tasty meal. I call it pork schnitzel.
Quickly fried in our pan with onions and mushrooms.
fried up nicely quick and easy
added some mozzarella cheese to melt over it
Then some Salsa to top it off and go with out salad.
this was very tasty and so tender
Dishes done now back outside on our patio, to enjoy more of this wonderful weather. Still 65 F (18C) at 7:45pm . Sure is not hard to take at all we are liking this much nicer weather. No rain yet but should be overnight, maybe.
Heading out in the morning for some more family fun for a few days.
Want to thank y'all for dropping on by and hope you enjoyed a nice spring day again as well.

Where are we today ?

Our last night here and another good sleep, up early for some computing and coffee, a nice walkabout then hopefully secure the coach and hook up the car and get on the road. A couple of nice walkabouts enjoy this mild weather and a nice sunrise.
a bit foggy but we not in a hurry
We had talked to Marty (maintenance) yesterday about getting stuck with all the  rain. he said he would be in at 9:30 this morning and set down some boards for us. Now at 10am he no showed. We checked and there was a family emergency so he not here.
we might get stuck
the car was stuck on Saturday
and we got towed out
looks good so we gave it a try
nope we stuck!
Yesterday a fellow Bobby came by and said he could get us out , he has been here 15 years and does it all the time, So I tracked him down and he came over. But we need the tractor. Hmm it is a key lock now, So he drove 7 miles each way to get the key. Got the tractor and came down with a chain.
coach carefully hooked up and slowly we managed to get unstuck
a slow pull but we got out
no damage done! bonus
This be Bobby below a very friendly helpful guy and refused to take any money for the 3 hours of his time he spent here getting us unstuck as much as I tried.  Now That is one very friendly camper , actually like most we have met over the years. Always help people when we can.
Thanks Bobby what a great guy, fellow camper here
this where we were stuck , not much but just enough
Now a tip for us and anyone else coming in here get a pull through or gravelled site (they do have a few).
Finally at 11:45 this morning we were on the road , car hooked up and ready to go. Made a quick lunch for the road and headed north on 69, stopped at the Flying J to fuel our coach 57 gallons taken so we good for another 400 plus miles.
Took the 4 lane(not a good road) for an hour or so then some very nice 2 lane roads (avoiding the tolls) making our way to Grove OK.
very good roads here
love these back roads very little traffic
we passed right by here love this place
have been here 3 times in the past
lots of lakes and marinas around here
The entrance to The custom car Museum
amazing love his cars !
We arrived at Eagles landing(2:30PM) we have been to many times over the years. with our membership only $10. a night with FHU's free wifi and cable TV if you wish. Plan to be here 9 nights, but then again plans can change.
a wonderful campground we enjoy
It was a hot day and I was in shorts all day, Awning deployed and once everything was taken care of we stopped for a nice happy hour, discussing our day travel plans and supper tonight.
what a perfect day
a very nice campsite. like
 we usually have here
Got a short walkabout checking out all these amazing flowers in the field.
so colorful
Do love the restrooms here they redid a few years ago.
nice showers too
Supper tonight a tasty one, turkey burgers and fresh cut fries done in our Fry Daddy this hit the spot tonight we both enjoyed it and filling as well. nothing like fresh cut fries.
love our Fry daddy
yummy? yup
then about 7:30 caught a nice sunset
right out our dining room window
It was a long day but not many miles, but we are here for a while, we hope to unwind and get ready for another leg of our journey home.
Thank y'all for checking us out and hope you had a good day without getting stuck.

Where have we been this Winter?

Heading further west on a wonderful travel day, then got our coach stuck!

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Another wonderful sunny day here in the southwest, got a nice early walkabout the area after my shower) just taking in the quiet views and enjoy more cactus right here.  Chatted with our new friends Roger and Sue then home to finish securing our coach. Dump and fill our tanks at the dump station, hooked up the car and head on out about 10 am.
Just love this area I am sure we will return.
the Why water Tower on the hill
85 north to Gila bend a nice scenic drive
No rush today only 139 miles to go. Head north to Gila bend and west on I-8  Good roads great weather, no noticeable winds and very nice uneventful drive. Stopped at  a rest area for a stretch about 11:30 so a good time to whip up a nice light lunch. Only 40 miles to go so will be there before 12:30.
nice green fields along I-8
Turned off at Wellton and south to the canal and to the 14 day free BLM camping area. Turn left just before the canal. A nice wide open space and a few rigs here nicely spaced. Watch for the soft spot you may get stuck!
And stuck we got, we tried a few things, raise the rear of the coach with our levelling jacks, but even with out blocks the ground was soft, Did get some blocks under the rear wheels but they just went deeper.
hmm, not good
But as luck would have a couple of guys from Alberta Canada were being entertained by our antics and came over to see if they could possibly help. The had a nice 4WD truck with wide tires a heavy long chain and some boards. Boards placed behind the rear tires and he gave us a little tug and we backed right out only about 20 feet but much firmer ground.
this where we were
Well thanks guys much appreciated they would not take any money but I will buy them a beer or a bunch. We know where they are parked. Not fun getting a 22,000 coach stuck even it was only stuck a little bit. This is only the second time, first time was back in  2007 at the Imperial sand dunes in southern California.
Now we are on firm ground set up out coach, satellite dish and tilt the solar and a nice view of the area from the roof.
this friendly fellows are camped over there
A set up by 2:30 up I walked over to the canal about 100 yards away just to check it out, They have been catching catfish there, warm good eating they are.
nice canal in he desert
here we are now, happy campers
even got some quality reading time done in the shade of the car
But then soon time to begin supper and guess what we gonna enjoy some catfish fillets, one of our favorite fish. Trying out this seafood mix for the fish. Suzie wants french fries as well so I cut up a couple of potatoes, fired up our generator an plugged in the Fry Daddy.
Made the frys first and put them on or preheated Weber Q in a foil pan to keep warm while a fried the fish. It only take a few minutes.
frying the fish and the fries nice an warm
now this sure took care of our fish and chip craving
just as supper was about ready I caught some desert sunset pictures
notice the reflsyion on our coach too?
another nice ending to a pretty decent day
except for the getting stuck part
139 miles today a nice easy drive
We like this area as well, and its FREE, we like free. Probably be here for a few days just because we can. An I was able to post this blog sitting outside, 7 pm and still 60F with no wind. Now time to head in side, my fingers getting shilly.
Thanks for joining us in our desert wanderings just the way we love to travel.  And hope y'all did not get stuck in the sand or snow wherever you are.
