Part 2 of the Ghost town and silver mines tour.

Where are we today ?
If you read yesterday's posting HERE  it was part one of this great road trip we did exploring the South west. Below is part two
Yesterday I was put in Jail and Suzie posted bail. I jumped bail and did not go back, they gotta find me now. And unless they have the link to our blog will never do it!
The rest of the self guided tour was absolutely wonderful. So much interesting history here in these hills in the desert. Could spend hours here reading all the printed documents. And we did.

From here we did the walking tour across the road with 15 more building and quite a few mines. Remember there was over 300 silver mines in this area, back in the late 1800's. We had packed a lunch so renewed our energy before heading back out.

Now on the road out noticed these signs below, don't want to venture off the road thats for sure.
Couple fresh fruit and veggie stands on the way home, right in the middle of the fields. Even got my very first Date Shake here too, very tasty, very filling, very rich now can say I have had a date shake.
That was the end of yesterday.
This morning a nice sunrise and a few walkabouts the resort

Now after puttering around for a few hours, doing some touch up trim work , walkabouts and enjoying our books in the shade. Time to fire up or Weber Q. Do a roast beef, baked taters.
While the roast is resting for a few minutes, grilled some more fresh asparagus, mushrooms and garlic bread. Click here to see how I did the roast beef.
sure hit the spot and lotsa leftovers
Ok there, another fun day here in southwest Arizona.
Hope you had a good day too and thanks for stopping on by.

  1. If pictures say a thousand words, you have one heck of a good story here. It's a lot of work to sort pictures and post them. I know because I rarely take the time anymore ... good job! We certainly enjoyed our visit to Castle Dome too. We call Yuma the salad capital because of all the green fields of lettuce. I've never done a roast on the barbecue but now may have to try it.

    1. Thanks it was a lot of fun putting together the pictures great memories to look back on.
Amazing to see all field work, trucking and irrigation for all these crops. We missed the annual lettuce festival by a few days.

    1. It took over 20 years to rebuild and restore this to preserve some of this history that was disappearing.

  4. You did it - the grand tour of the mine. We love that place. It's amazing what a private initiative can achieve. I think it's the best museum in the Yuma area.

  6. We've been to Castle Dome a couple of times and learned new things each time. And from your pictures it looks like they've even made some more changes to it.

  7. Nice day, you had out there. I am really ready for the fresh veggies. Just may have to meander south a bit to see if we can find some.
