Thurs. Aug. 5th New Hamburg

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August. 2006

Bright, sunny and warm again. After our morning coffee I drove to my daughter's restaurant in Drumbo Ontario, Kobbler's Kitchen to start with a small painting project. I primmed the outside front and 2 rear windows and prepared to return for a few more short days to finish up.

While I was gone a neighbour lady phoned Sandy to ask for help on what to do with a baby pig wandering about her front yard. Well four people from the farm and two vehicles went over and were chasing this little piglet down the road, until he was tired enough to slow down and Greg was able to grab his hind legs and capture him. So he took this animal and put it in a small pen in his barn. We are not sure where he came from as there is no pig farms in the immediate area.

From Drumbo its just a nice drive to New Hamburg to pick up a prescription and some batteries for my hearing aids. Back at the farm I joined Suzie driving up and down the 29 acre hay field looking for a large part that came off mechanical rake used to put the hay in neat rows ready for the baler to pick it up and put in  nice square bales. After covering most of the field the baler arrived and began, and with 2 people in the cab they got lucky and spotted this part before damaging the macine. In the meantime at the other farm the wheat was being taken of with the combine and Suzie's father, Greg and Sandy were using the harvester to gather the straw and blow it into the barn. Then about 5 o'clock Sandy and Shelly began the chores and milking the 55 cows in the barn. While Suzie and I drove to Tavistock to pick up 6 dinners from Roast Beef dinner fundraiser . Back in time for all to sit and enjoy this BBQ'd beef on a bun, potatoe salad, corn on the cob a fresh baked homade pie.

Then we relaxed under our awning and four of their friends dropped by for a visit wondering why they did not see them at the dinner. So we met them and we all enjoyed some time sitting at our campsite chatting. Another busy day done.
