First day back in Ontario, decent weather and got stuff to do.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it

Here we are back in Ontario, after our six months in the United States is pretty well done for this year. Now to spend 5 Months in Ontario to make sure that we  maintain our health care. We don't travel a lot mostly because we have seen most there is to see and the very high cost of fuel and very expensive campgrounds. But we do have options, one is our friends place here (we call Camp Awesome, just cause it is) so peaceful quiet and wide open spaces. Another is our home membership park (Resorts of Destinction , ROD), Rock Glen resort where we can spend time for a couple of weeks in and one out. And maybe a few affiliated ones in Ontario, or visit with friends. Works for us, cause we love to move around.
Good sleep last night down to 32 f (0 c) but we cozy in bed. Up early as usual, fired up our Mr Heater get the temp up to 70 f inside is comfortable in no time. Watching the sunrise across the 5 acres here is wonderful again. It did get up to 58f (14c) outside with some sunny periods.
the view from our dinning room table
excellent !
After my early morning walkabout town, at 8:30 am Suzie and I headed to New Hamburg, I dropped her to visit with her Dad while I got my one hearing aid fixed, stopped at the bank, picked her up again then picked up a few groceries we needed.
On the way out of town and crew of 3 Mennonites were removing the old fence here and  2 hours later they had all the posts and wire in place. These guys sure know how to do good work and did not taste any time.
new fence all done, amazing
Home for lunch before 11 am and then just puttered around the yard cleaning up a bit. Until 2 pm time to head to Stratford see our Doctor for our yearly checkup.
enjoying the back country roads again
in the spring
Doctor visit went well for both of us, in and out in 1/2 a hour, all looks good so far, next is the Blood work we do next week, and then go from there.
Home before 5 pm. so fired up our Weber Q 100 to preheat, whipped up a salad and grilled some tilapia fish fillets for supper. After our wings and fires last night need a healthier option. Almost sat outside, but the best part of the day was spent going to see the doctor. Hmm better get this stuff out of the way soon.
love our fish grilled on our Weber Q
or actually done any way
sure did the trick tonight
By the time we were done it had cooled down and 7:30 pm. So read a bit, finish posting this blog and after a tv show will call it a night.
Was a pretty good one for us today, no complaints here.
Hope y'all had a great day as well.
Where have we been this past Winter?

"Yes I can hear you now", and the birds and most everything else, love it ! But...

Where are we today ?
Now today is once again wonderful, cool nights and hot days, what's not to love about that? About 6:30 am a lovely sunrise out our dining room window.
love it
Then the walkabouts this morning are especially wonderful I can hear all the birds making all kinds of noise. Something I have missed since my one hearing aide quit, a few weeks ago. Now that it's back and working , these walkabouts are even better. Of course I can hear people talking and some traffic and the trains in the distance, it's like a new life all over again!
Mind you part of my hearing loss is speech recognition so sometimes I can hear you but not understand what you saying. Frustrating yes but that's just the way it is will not get any better. Another reason we don't like to get together in large groups. One on one is not too bad  though. So if you are young enough and actually reading this, make sure you wear hearing protection, in loud places, car races, concerts, bands, dances, chainsaws, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, you name it you will loose your hearing over time, slowly but it will happen and believe me it's not fun. I know, been there done that. Oh it's fun at the time but....
this bird posed for me too
I even went to Walmart this morning for a few things and could not believe how loud the store is again.
One cool thing here in Benson is the BAT (Mobile) I call it. Benson Area Transit. They come through this park 4 times a day to take people into town. Bus stop right across from our site.
here is the BAT
Before lunch Suzie and I took a nice walkabout this park, probably a couple miles, was nice that she joined me today a rare occasion
nice cactus garden with blossoms?
Now after a light lunch we do what we do best, read in  the shade. The intense sun here requires some shade and we do have the technology.
I can only read for a bit and have to do something, today I went over our vinyl graphics again with Protectall something I do 5-6 times a year. It seems to help keep them looking like new. They are still in pretty good shape for 16 years old.
easy to use wipe on wipe off
Then time for supper preheat our Weber Q and grill a couple Mahi-Mahi burgers to add to a salad.
While cooking supper, can see the sunset,
on the mountains to the east of us
sure was tasty and did the trick
Now just time to kick back and relax after a great day outside enjoying this amazing fall weather.
Thanks for stopping by again and I just know y'all had a wonderful day too, no matter where you are.

Love all the different cactus here AND my Hearing aide is repaired and back , yahoo !!!

Where are we today ?
Today is another wonderful day (tired of hearing this?) The usual cold nights and hot sunny days. Today got up to at least 76 f . By 9:30 in shorts, t shirt and sandals.
But my early walkabout was wonderful, cool and refreshing and so peaceful as well.
Noticed on the hill behind the campground that they have a lighted up Cactus and a Star, actually lighted up all night.
Took this pic shortly after 6:30
kinda cool
Now here there is Cactus everywhere (its the desert) and so many wonderful cactus gardens on lots and in the common areas. Now the nice thing is a lot of them have small signs telling you what kind of cactus they are. And here I thought a cactus was a just a cactus, so many different kinds. I did a few collages below and if you click on any pic they will get larger and maybe you can read some of the nametags.
My hearing aide was repaired back in Ontario and mailed out last Tuesday supposed to be here this Thursday. But had a tracking number and was following the progress. This morning expected delivery is today, 2 days early! Going to Valley Vista Resort one mile up the road. So I checked with them mail usually comes in by 1pm. Went there at 2pm and there it was, amazing! This is the reason we have been hanging out here for so long.
Now I can hear better, not perfect but much better, Me happy, Suzie very happy that I can understand her now too. We still going back to Valley Vista for Thanksgiving dinner and will leave there on Monday (after the holiday traffic) moving on down the road.
Gotta enjoy some more of this amazing weather, and reading in the shade is the way we love to do it.
what's not to love about these clear blue skies?
Then before it gets too late fire up our Weber Q grill a couple Turkey Garlic sausage to add to our salad, these sausage are really so good.
sausage and a salad did the trick
Things are coming together and we can move on down the road next week, would have been sooner but had to allow for my hearing aide. Maybe get back on track, our plans have been changing on a daily basis but that's ok, we can handle this weather, love the Benson area, that's why we are here.
Thanks for taking a peek today, hope you had a wonderful day too.

Some errands ran today, sent hearing aide for repairs and a very nice afternoon reading in the sun.

Where are we today ?
Up earlier than usual, am slowly adapting to the time change. At 3:30 am my body thinks its 6 am and I am wide awake, I got an extra 30 minutes so a few more days and should be well adjusted.         Last Thursday my one hearing aid quit so it was in my dehumidifier to see if it wold fix itself. Nope still not working. So I called my Hearing aide place in New Hamburg (Hemmerich Hearing Centre) and the wonderful lady there Cheri gave me some options. Suggested Soundchoice Hearing in Albuquerque. I checked them out and open at 9 am. So I headed the 18 miles west into town stopped at the Walmart then to Soundchoice for 9:05. A few tests were done, no easy fix and needs to go back to the factory for repairs (as is with most hearing aides) no charge here. I have to pay for the repair, (very pricey!) and would take at least 2 weeks. Next option was to send back to New Hamburg. I got it already and took up the road to the US Post Office in Edgewood 8 miles the other way. Sent it priority post and guaranteed delivery This coming Monday, lets hope. When the repair is done Cheri (Thanks Cheri) will phone us and have it shipped back to us wherever we are or may be heading to (no charge for the repairs). Ok, I paid to the shipping buy a lot less than the repairs down here. These are high end digital aides supplied by Workers comp only about 3 years old, I get new ones every 5 years. Repairs are free.
Sound choice in Albuquerque
I left at 8 am and was back by 10.
I-40 heading back up to the Campground
my exit
Then headed the 8 miles east to Edgewood and the post office. Custom papers, insurance and priority post done there. Back home for lunch. That was a whole morning running around.
This is Historic Route 66 back to the campground
A few walkabouts the park and hiking trail, cleaned all the smashed bugs off the front of our coach and actually got some real nice reading time done outside (Jeffery Deaver, The Skin Collector( in the wonderful sunshine under clear blue skies, what a wonderful afternoon !
spotted this bunny looked like he was having a snooze
nice trail
amazing clear blue skies
Then time to whip up supper. Tonight a couple onion and parsley Turkey burgers and a salad.
Love these Turkey Burgers
Elevation here is 6,300 feet and Albuquerque 5,300 ft, the forecast for the next couple days is cool and windy with possible rain and Snow! Thursday morning but the rest of the week will warm up some and supposed to be sunny. We have full hookups, free internet and a week of free (part of our membership) camping. The weather not better any other place close that we want to go to so may as well just stay right here. We have things we can putter around with.
Thanks for stopping by hope you had a wonderful day too.
