Cabinet installed, two birthdays and a pig roast today, yep we busy and having fun, kinda cold though.

Where are we today ?

        Cooler windy and overcast today so started with an early morning walkabout town then back here. And checked out the back where Aaron is firing up his cooker to roast a 135 lb pig for a surprise 40th birthday party for Mike, love a pig roast!

      Then I ran over to the shop to pick up our finished cupboard, also got a few groceries, then back home for light lunch with Suzie.

      After lunch over to visit Suzie's Mom and celebrate her 81st with a tasty birthday cupcake. We visited for a while before heading back home.

       Now its cold and rainy outside so I set to install the cabinet I made this week to replace to old heavy analog TV that we had to replace.

          So during the past week I designed and put together this oak cabinet to fill the hole.

         After visiting her mom we came back home to mount the hinges and handles on the doors and install, now its all done.

        When we travel just set the Tv on my recliner, right behind the passenger seat and we have the nice storage cabinet that Suzie will find things to store in there. You can never have enough storage in an RV.

         Enough puttering for one day time for another birthday celebration. Its about 4;30 and we can smell the aroma of that pig cooking. So we bundled up (it's only 55f, cold very windy and raining) wandered back to to check out the Surprise party for Mike.

      The power in town went out because of the storm, but this fellow was right here with his RV, so fired up his generator to supply power for the music, slushy machine and most important the rotisserie for the pig.

Nothing quite like a pig roast

         We chatted and socialized with quite a few people, some we have not seen for a few years, was a great time. Too bad about the weather, this was supposed to be a pool party. Pool was heated but not the air!  We did last a couple hours but finally had to pack it in. Guess we were not dressed warm enough mostly our hands frozen.

       Well it was a wonderful fun day all round, just too bad about the weather, but it is what it is, ya just never know.

Not enough hours in the days lately.

Where are we today ?

Plattsville Ontario.

        Started my day with my usual early (7 am) walkabout town, chat with the guys at the garage for a bit then back home to take Suzie to visit her mom in New Hamburg. Then over to her Dad's workshop to sand our  new cabinet and apply the first coat of Satin Varathane.
         Then pick up Suzie at 11:30 and back home for lunch. After lunch I hopped on the mower and proceeded to mow the 5 acres of lawn here. Man it is growing fast ! 3 hours today so not done until 4 pm. Relax a bit with Suzie for a 30 minute "Happy 1/2 Hour" and whip up supper.

         Tonight grilled salmon burgers and our salad. Very tasty, healthy and quick.

        Right after supper back to the shop to sand the first coat of Varathane and apply some filler to the nail holes and a few minor imperfections. Three pics below of Suzie's Dad's new workshop he set up at her brother's after moving things from the house this past April. Very nice !

       The 2 pics below are the parts of our new cupboard in the process of me finishing. Apply a coat of Varathane then wait. Apply some filler  then wait, sand a bit and apply another coat of Varathane and wait. Can't rush these things but the end result will be exactly what we want. Getting anxious but need to take the time.

           All of our interior woodwork in the coach is a light oak, so thats what this project is made of. Made a couple things a few years ago for our coach and found that using an oil based  Professional Varathane ends up with a perfect match after a few months, no staining required. This product I use on purpose because it yellows with age blending in perfectly with the rest of the woodwork here. I found that out years ago, building bathroom and kitchen cupboards, as well as refinishing many old pieces of furniture over time. I also made all the wood trim in that house as well out of pine as I renovated and used the same product, with excellent results.

           Finally back home shortly after 7:30, to relax outside for a few minutes but found out it has cooled down to about 60f (15c) from the afternoon temps about 82f (27c). So guess we will retire inside and relax for a bit and maybe even enjoy our big screen tv for a bit too.

More cabinet making, break fast casserole, a feast of wings and playing in the pool.

Where are we today ?

Plattsville Ontario

        At 7am off to the Home Depot again for a bit more wood trim to finish off our Cabinet doors today. Then off to the shop to put a few things together, the other door and some trim work. Back home by 11 am to whip up a breakfast casserole for our lunch.

        Easy to do and very tasty, its been a while and we sure enjoyed it. For the recipe click HERE or my recipe blog on the top of the right side bar. Today a smaller portion but still enough for 4 people we will have leftovers.

          After lunch back to do a bit more cutting and fitting, then took Suzie to visit her mom while I picked up a few groceries. Just waiting for the glue to dry overnight and can get back at things tomorrow, couple coats of varithane and then the final install.

           That was another fun day and elected to go the 3 blocks to the Trail's Edge in town, Wing night and their wings are exceptional. They are huge and .89 cents each, certainly will be taking some home. Wings for breakfast and lunch?

        Back to "Camp Awesome" to join daughter number 2 and the grands in our host, John's wonderful heated pool.

        The skeeters were bad here tonight, but tolerable when in the pool. Damp weather, overcast and gonna rain tomorrow. Normally not too bad during the day.

Where are we today ?

          Still have our cupboard project on the go. Not real easy when the lumber yard (Home Depot) is 20 minutes away in Kitchener, the work shop is 10 minutes away in the other direction and we here. But we getting things done.

          Home depot at 8 am pick up the wood to make the doors. But then took Suzie to New Hamburg , check out and see what her Mom's Doc has to say. I picked up some groceries, then picked up Suzie and back here for lunch. Now to the shop working on our cabinet. Worked out pretty good but was a little short on my lumber. After 4 pm will call it a another fun day playing with the wood.

         Relax for a bit, enjoy our e-readers then time to whip up supper.

         Tonight some Pacific Cod fillets done on our Weber Q in a cast iron pan, with Fish Crisp and a couple tbs's of olive oil. Add to our salad and  it was wonderful!
