We had a plan today, but it was changed, no problem.

Where are we today ?
Louisiana Welcome Centre on I-10 westbound
clic a pic to enlarge it
A very mild night (52F) and good sleep with windows open. Got a couple of nice walkabouts this morning, then we secured the coach and headed out at 9 am, westbound on I-12  to pick up I-10 near Baton Rouge so far the roads are mostly very good except for about 10 miles near Baton Rouge) not real bad just a cement highway, Then we stopped at the rest area at MM121 on I-10 Louisiana welcome centre Just before Lafayette LA to stretch and make lunch at 11 am. Glad we stopped when we did.
mostly very good roads today
We had seen a sign saying I-10 west is closed due to a fiery crash.. This is a busy toad and detours are in effect. So think we will just hang out here for a while and check the road reports. Better here than stuck in all that major traffic no big rush anyway. Quite a few years ago we ran into a similar road closure somewhere around here. Not many other roads through the swamps.
29 miles of this

This is the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge that we travel through these swamps and is 29 miles long. Our destination today is Delta downs casino where they have free overnight parking, and only less than 2 hours away so we are in no big hurry anyway. Nice and comfy here at the welcome centre and they have free coffee too. Plus it is now raining.
again the lovely high way markings,
bridge across the Mississippi
lots of boats, barges and ships
in the Mississippi

a very nice friendly welcome centre
Lots of information and displays inside all about America's Largest river swamp.
alligator skin
Well we did not make it to Delta Downs Casino. Watching the traffic and another accident the traffic was stopped on I-10 right behind us. No problem we are at home wherever we are. Suzie had a nap and I walked about the visitor centre keeping an eye on the roads and checking options. Finally at 3 pm the interstate was open again, but moving very slowly so we just decided to stay here for the night. Heck it is raining and I just washed our coach yesterday. Why not, nice and secure, relatively quiet and free wifi. This is a good overnight stop very large spaces, the 5th wheels  beside us can open all their slides. We don't need to.
not much moving westbound
So we put our antenna up and have 3 local channels, lotsa food and quite comfortable here. A couple of other rv's are beside us from Quebec and will be spending the night as well plus they have overnight security. No trucks allowed here, they have parking on the other side of the interstate.
We can enjoy reading for a while still raining, have a nice quiet Happy Hour and whip up a tasty chicken helper meal, with Tuna (we have left over chicken but like that for lunches)
we had this in the pantry, quick easy and tasty
Now enjoyed reading for a while before supper time, quite comfortable temperature 68F, we liking it and it is raining anyway.
another Tasty Abita Springs Beer
nice large rv parking spots
this was a rare tasty treat, I just added,
mushrooms, celery, carrots and onions
This is where we ended up
111miles today
this was our planned 223 miles today
Any how that was it for a fun day and as rv'ers know plans are made to be changed, thats why we don't have many plans carved in stone. We have only one thing definate for this Sunday but lotsa leeway for that.  The chalkboard works real well.
Glad that y'all dropped in for a peek today and hope you had a good one as well.
