Do you remember reading last Tuesday's posting when I helped out this young fellow Jake at the rest area in Texas. Well I got this awesome thank you letter from his Dad and Mom for helping him out. Tuesday's posting isHERE . Well I was glad to help him out and they really appreciated it. I am sure glad that things worked out for him.

I got on the road just before 8 am as the sun was shining and roads were clear. First day in a week I was not driving directly into the rising sun, nice!

The nice things about I-75 no need to navigate, its gonna take me where I want to go, and rest areas to get out and stretch, make good time, was what I need for the last couple legs of this journey.

At 2:30 I pulled into Lakewood Village Resort in Wapakonatea Ohio, A Memebrship park (Coast to Coast) for us and love staying here. Full hookups even winter water if you want it. But the beautiful indoor pool and hot that I was looking forward to are closed for maintenance. $10.00 a night.

Temperature about 12f with the wind feels like 0 f. Yep its cold. Got out my winter coat, heavy winter work socks (yep still have one pair), winter mittens and Toque (knitted hat). I will be good to go for tomorrows journey. Looks like I can make a run for it early tomorrow and beat the weather home. And be with my honey!!!

We had a late night last night and did not get the posting of the tour we did atLoretta Lynn's Ranchdone until this morning with lotsa pictures. So if you missed it you can clickhere and see what a great day we had.
Today is a travel day, slowly heading north to Bowling Green Kentucky only 133 miles so we are in no hurry, sunny warm day no rain. Just gonna shop and park for the night at Camping World and Gander Mountain. A few things we need.

Puttered around for a while killing time and hit the road about 10 am thru Nashville into Kentucky stopping at the visitors center to make lunch then on down the road to Camping World. We found everything we needed here at a good price. New, ready made curtains for the windshield on our coach less than a hundred dollars (old ones are done after 14 years) New step covers to replace the worn out ones (9 years old). A tube of self levelling caulking and a new water pressure regulator. All of these items much less expensive than we could purchase in Canada.

So now that we spent our money here, we can save a bit with a free parking spot for the night. Oh yeah also went into Gander Mountain outdoor store wandered around and picked myself up a new vest (again, other one getting worn out) This too was 1/2 the price I pay back home. So we spent some money on stuff we needed but saved a lot too.

Then after getting everything installed its soon time to whip up a nice easy supper. Just like a Hamburger Helper only much tastier.

Compute and read for bit then watch the tube for a while until time to hit the sack.
Now all hooked up here just ready to hit the road in the morning heading for Wapakoneta Ohio, where we will hang out for about a week, before heading back to cold Ontario.
Anyhow it has been a fun day for us and want to thank y'all for dropping in for a peak.

As usual we up earl waiting to hit the road. We had time to compute, a pot pf coffee and showers then at 7 am we hit the road, almost sunrise.

We got to the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit about 9:30 and had about a twenty minute wait for customs. Then Back on the road. But the questions asked, you think they don't track you? We were asked why we crossed into the USA in August. Remember back then, we took a small ferry from Sombra Ontario to Marine City Michigan, had lunch stopped at the duty free shop the back to Ontario, about 3 hours in total across the border! Yep they are watching us!

Most of the day was overcast, but did run in to a few heavy rain showers around Cincinnati OH, but no problem we just stopped for a few minutes then back on the road again.

About 5:30 it was starting to get dark so pulled into Cave City and choose a nice Days inn only $39.95 for the night with all the bells we need, tv, wifi, coffee AND a bonus. Get this asked the manager where we could buy some beer and he sadly notified us that this was a dry county, hmmph!!! But he was very nice and GAVE us six beer, would not take any money, now how is that for a nice host?

Now we can relax with a couple cool ones then walked next door to the restaurant. El Mazatlan. Now we were pleasantly surprised very reasonable prices, and excellent Mexican food, just like the real stuff. The whole bill with tax was under $25.00, more food that we could eat and
that included a pitcher of beer!

Thats it for another fun travel day, now I can put my feet up and watch the tube for a bit.
And back on the road in the morning to finish the trip back to Alabama and our house,(miss our house!)

Todays Journey 393 miles (632 kms)
We don't usually travel that much in one day but we made two days into one with a
three hour stop in the morning and wanting warm weather sooner.
Overnight at Walmart in La Grange Kentucky, very warm, windows open and a good nights sleep. In the morning a huge truck and trailer beside us, was very impressive.
We were up early, coffees and computing then a walk into the Walmart for a few things at 6 am, nice thats it open 24 hrs.

Then we are on the road 7 am to get thru Louisville before rush hour, to Bowling Green Kentucky to see if we can get some work done on our coach (sway bar bushings). We changed time zones and got there at 8:30 am instead of 9:30am (gained an hour). Well they don't do that work there so he sent us to a local Ford Dealer (Greenwood Ford). They were very helpful, sent a mechanic to check what we need then checked for availability of the parts. At least a week for delivery so he advised us to carry on, too bad it was a very friendly dealer.
Now its 11 a.m. new time, so we made a bite to eat and decided to keep heading south to Birmingham Alabama. A great day for driving, getting hotter as we go shorts, t shirts, sandals listen to tunes then finally had to turn on our air conditioner it was 95 and humid in our coach. (sorry cold people !) The sights are good and less leaves are turning color as we get further south.

We passed by Nashville with the Batman towers in the distance, no need to stop this time, been there a few times.

Now in Birmigham we fueled up only $3:17 a gallon (.83 cents a litre) with a Flying J card, love the prices. Arrived here at 4 pm parked for the night, had a cool beverage and a simple supper of leftover seafood pasta for Suzie from the Olive Garden and hamburger helper for me.

Oh did I mention I had to clean the bugs from the front of our coach twice today, (the downfall of hot weather), glad I have it well waxed, they wipe off very easy.

Now relax for a bit read, compute and watch a bit of tv then call it a night. Even a nice Flying J Sunset, not real scenic, but still nice.
