Standard cold , snow and me the gopher, keeping busy. Love winter= NOT...

Where are we today ?
Yep still cold, was -23C with the wind chill. That's like -9f. a bit of snow overnight.
Out side first thing take out the garbage and recycle, neighbor across the road saw me shovelling a bit and called me over. They have her Dad's snow blower in their garage. Perfect I will come back later and pick it up. Off to Plattsville for a bit then pick up her Dad at 9am come to the house. He wants to pack more stuff.
just a bit of snow last night
blowing and cold this morning
following the snow plow down the road
First time in about 50 years I have used a snow blower. Better than shovelling but still cold.
works pretty slick
I am covered in snow, brr...
After running here and there all day, (Plattsville,Kitchener, Punkeydoodles corners, New Hamburg and the retirement home. Stopped by our coach to drop off and pick up a few things. Just sunny and cold there too.
Eventually Suzie got back home around 5 pm so I whipped up supper a very tasty Halibut fillet and a salad. Her Mom and Dad are slowly adjusting and are getting by somewhat, big changes for them.
That was our fine winter day, sure could be a lot worse. Like colder, more snow and no snow blower or our own health issues.
Thanks again for stopping on by, not much happening here for a while yet. Got some Grandson's hockey games on the weekend, thats exciting for me!
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this past Winter.

  1. Always best to know which way the wind is blowing if you're using a snow blower. AND, be sure and be bundled up from head to toe. I haven't used one in a few years. Our old one wasn't worth prepping for another season, so it went out to the curb a while back. I might look into buying another one but these days, I'm not in that much of a hurry to clear the snow any more.

    1. Yes Bob gotta watch the wind direction for sure.
This snow blower is here so thats a bonus for me.
Never actually owned one myself, much preferred to have "Freddie" blow our 20 x 70 ft gravel drive out for us at $8.00 a time. Easy and lazy way to do it.

  2. Wow! I have no concept of living surrounded by snow. Just to drive you have to clear a path....no wonder snowbirds shuffle away in winter. Love your photos - gives me an insite....cheers

  4. This is definitely a different winter for you as you've spent most of them recently in south. What is it 51 days now until spring?

  6. Bought a new snow blower at CTC in 05. It was a brute of a thing & I only used it maybe half a dozen times that winter. In 06 we hit the road and that was our last winter & the last of the snow blower. Sold it before we left..........

  7. Never owned a snow blower. Always used a shovel. Better exercise, provided you take your time and don't overdue it.

#1 goal in life...never spend another winter in Canada. Having said that, I could probably do a couple of weeks or a month provided there was a light at the end of the tunnel!

    1. With back issues most of my life snow shovelling was not much of an option, for me.
Our goal was to never spend another winter in Canada too, we will get back on track, the light at the end of the tunnel for us is spring time or later.

  8. Looks like you and I have a lot in common this winter George. Ken fired up our snow blower (first time in ? years) and did our driveway which looked exactly like yours. We too are not enjoying our first winter back in Canada in several years. But, as yourself, it was necessary. We are already looking forward to getting south in November. Take care and I have a feeling we might be using that snow blower a few more times. YUCK !!

    1. We are looking forward as well just getting away, and summer as well. South in October for us is the plan, if not sooner. YUCK is right!

  9. For too many years I remember putting more miles on my snow blower than my car up in Gravenhurst...however, it is far better than holding a shovel!

    1. I agree, the shovelling is not fun especially with the deep snow.

  10. Just think how much you will appreciate heading south next season :) Glad your inlaws are slowly settling in. Do they like the meals that are being served or have you spoiled them?

    1. So far enjoying the meals, but eating too much, and desert 2 times a day, not the way we like to eat, her Dads says he will have to start eating 1/2 portions.

  11. A snow blower is one of mankind's greatest inventions. It ranks right up there with the Weber grill! :c)

    1. You got that right, but the Weber grill is much more fun!
