Screwed up my macbook, but they fixed it quick, easy and free!

Where are we today ?
Now from cold yesterday to very, very cold today. Here is the local weather below -8f (-22c). So gonna got check out our coach this morning. With the two small electric heaters on low because we only have a 15 amp connection the inside temperature inside the coach was only 21f (-6c). hmm not good, Gonna have to remove all freezable liquids.
So Sandy loaned me a couple boxes to fill, and I filled some reusabale bags taking more stuff to her dad's house and found a spot in their shed where stuff will not freeze. While there I fired up Mr heater, for a bit but our furnace was protesting it did not want to start. But got the temperature above freezing.
Next on my agenda was a trip to the Apple store in Waterloo. I did a real dumb thing few weeks ago while checking a weather website I believe, it told me my flash player needed to be updated. So what did dummy me do, I down loaded the (supposed flash player file) and allowed it to be installed on my Macbook. Well guess what it was a malware file. Getting popups every where and trying to redirect me to their sight (looking like an Official Apple Website) to download a fix or phone them. Not gonna happen, Mac's don't normally get viruses unless you allow them and I did. First time ever on a PC or a Mac.
Walking into the Apple store 30 or more people there waiting, checking out things and consulting. 1st staff member met me a directed me to Derek, entered my info into his I pad, and was directed to the long counter and sit on the bar stool. Before I could check my email a technician, greeted me and as how he could help . I told him the problem few minutes later and another Technician Ronny was here to help me out. He new exactly what the problem was and the proper program to download and fix the issue. Its was a free download took about 30 seconds. Installed on my Mac a quick scan found the issues and removed them, reboot my Mac scan again and all is good to go. How much do I owe you I ask, no charge! Now is that good service or what. Not even 10 minutes in the store and all is good again. Then check out a few stores for a new flannel shirt there, no luck, but on the way back I stopped in Mark's Work warehouse they were on clearance with the dome fasteners (What I was looking for) only $12.88 and only one in my size, no problem I grabbed it I now have 2 thats all I need.
Heading back stopped at the jeweller in New Hamburg, had my watch band made smaller (no charge) and resize my wedding ring from an size 10 to 8 1/2 , loosing almost 50 lbs changes sizes dramatically, gonna take couple weeks but now I can take the duck tape off. He is always busy, because he is good.
Moved some more stuff from the coach and back to the house in New Hamburg. Caught up on emails and got supper ready for Suzie and her dad when they returned from the Stratford Hospital about 4:45.
nice winter view from the dining room window
Tonight a spaghetti squash with some sauce I had in the freezer made with ground turkey and lotsa veggies. Whipped up a tasty salad and we had a very filling but light supper.
did the trick
That was another productive day, pretty cold but at least the skies were blue and the sun shining. Good news is it getting much warmer every day and by the weekend about freezing, wow, much better than this cold snap.
Glad you could stop on by, I will keep blogging about stuff. If nothing else just to let you know we are alive a breathing, and what I made for supper.  But looks like not much more travelling for a while. We will have to take it one day at a time.

  2. Good on the MAC techs for quickly finding and eradicating the malware. Too bad we can't hunt the perpetrators down and Google them into eternity.

  3. That's good you will keep blogging. ..I don't travel and struggle to put something interesting together...but I am enjoying your snow pics...it is different...you should do more to remind everyone down south what it's like. So will all your pipes burst in the cold weather? ????coming from sunny Australia it is a novelty to see snow...glad your getting organised...cheers

    1. Thanks Leslie.
The pipes should be fine I blew the water lines out and pumped plumbing antifreeze into them to prevent that.

  5. That little 1000 mile latitude change in mid winter can sure play havoc with temps. Glad you remembered the freezables, That is a pretty shot out he window but I'm sure you would prefer one out the window in southern California.

  6. We have never been to the Apple store when there wasn't at least 30 or more people in it. That place is a gold mine.

  7. That was good service indeed. Figuring out what the problem is can be the hardest part but sounded like they had been presented with it before. So sorry you're having to hang around when it's so cold. I hope you have lots of heavy clothing to wrap in. In the meantime, I'll keep my mouth shut about the weather farther south.

    1. Still checking things out with the rv. The store is only about 30 minutes away and only opened about 2 years ago, but close too the Universities in Waterloo.
