Friday morning and gonna be another great day. It starts of hot and just getting hotter. This morning I had a appointment with my Doc in Stratford and got back home by noon. Just in time for the arrival of daughter Kim and son-in-law Brian and of course three anxious grandchildren. This will be their first tent camping experience. Oh they have rented cabins and trailers but never in a tent, with an 8, 6 and 3 year old.
We found a spot to set up where their tent will get some late afternoon shade. Then temps are getting 40c (104 f) with the humidity, so it will be to nice cool things down a bit for sleeping. All set up, I fired up our Q to grill a mess of hotdogs for the hungry crew, then off to the pool.
Kaitlyn loves dogs and Molly found her right away
Now as the temps constantly rose the best thing to do was play in the pool and thats what we did. Along with our hosts son Jamie and a couple of friends we had a great fun after noon.
Diving
Jumping
and the trampoline is fun too
relax a bit while Grandad (thats me) BBQ's some burgers
Fully dressed burgers and a huge tossed salad that Kim brought made for a nice simple "camping" supper. A special treat for these guys.
Molly loves the attention
Jamie joined us for supper as he was home alone (with us) and after wards showed the boys some of his great moves, let's burn up some more energy!
cool moves
We were going to have a campfire, but it was still pretty hot, so back into the pool to keep everyone happy and cool until it was actually after 9 pm when got out and eventually got the three rascals settled into their sleeping bags and nod off to sleep.
Time for us adults to kick back and relax but soon, all exhausted we headed off to bed as well. So nice to get together with these guys in a campground somewhere for this long weekend, which we have done for the last few years. This year it worked out that John and Lea allowed us to stay in their huge yard and play in the pool. As our plans have been kinda not working out and sure where we are gonna be almost from one day to next.
That was one busy half of a day, lets see what comes our way for saturday, another bust fun day I am sure.
This posting is later than usual, because we were having an issue with our wireless router, so after fiddling with it in the morning, finally got things up and running. Seems to work pretty slick now.
Glad you dropped by for a visit, put on your suit and jump in the pool with us.
Check out the map below to see where we have been this summer
Those pools sure help keep body temperatures down on hot days. We used to have a big pool and family did the same but it required lots of maintenance and $$. Now we enjoy the pools as we come across them and other folks do the maintenance. That's a good thing.

ReplyDeleteWorks for us, especially when we can't travel where we want right now.
DeleteThat is pretty neat, camping with Grampa at his friends place that has a pool. You are a cool Grampa.
ReplyDeleteWe do have fun and compromise where we can.
DeleteLooks like a great time was had by all and that pool does look inviting!
ReplyDeleteWas wonderful.
DeleteNothing like a swimming pool on a hot day to keep the kids happy - and great looking burgers to go along with it!
ReplyDeleteAn awesome day for sure.
