National Museum of Naval Aviation, from the past and another hot day.

      Still wonderfully very warm weather. it was 70F at 5am  and still quite humid, the humidity is normal for this area.
      Just before 7 am I got a couple nice morning walkabouts in this quiet campground, hoping to see some sunshine today, but not really in the forecast,  we will see.

      Were thinking about taking the drive to Pensacola to see the National Museum of Naval Aviation again but have been there 2 times previously and did not feel we needed to go back again so soon, last time was just 4 years ago. So I went back and looked at my old postings that I will share with you again. Love that we can go back on our blog and enjoy our past travels and places we have explored.
      Our first visit to the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola Florida was in 2012 click HERE for that posting and again in 2014 spent more time and checked out the Boneyard as well. For that Posting you can clic HERE  It is really an amazing place to see. And free, (we like free!) plan to spent most of the day there maybe even 2 days. This has to be the most interesting Aviation museum we have ever visited, you will not be disappointed.
 
      Now back to what we actually did today. My first walkabout this campground I went down by the ponds to check what was there, a few ducks enjoying the water and this warm weather.

    It is above average temperatures for our luck 83 f today and a couple of light train showers for a few minutes, but with no wind and our awning open was wonderful.

    I chatted with a few friendly folks on my walkabout , love their southern accents.

    Now such a nice warm day I enjoyed a nice long hot shower in the new ones right across from us. Wow is this water ever soft! Now with squeaky clean hair time for a haircut and beard trim . I set to work on that and Suzie does the finishing touches. I have the best barber in the world !

    After a light lunch I took a drive across I-10 past Styx river resort we have been to many times, another membership park but owned by Ocean Canyons and if we go there we can't go to Abita Springs for at least a week. So here is where we at.

    Then back to the travel centre to revisit the Oasis Travel centre and the Derailed Diner such an interesting place to stop and visit, we enjoyed a meal once there a few years ago and love the decorations and atmosphere.

     Left here and across the road to a local farm raised meat store and picked up a pound of ground Bison. That I will make into burgers at some point.

         Now the rest of the afternoon we can relax in the shade and enjoy this 83 f weather. that we love. Reading our page turners, and I stopped for a bit to dump our grey water and check our tire pressure as I always do before we travel. As we are leaving in the morning moving down the gulf coast for a ways.
        I had put our Weber Q away as I planned on cooking a shrimp dinner (that we missed yesterday) inside one of our favourites. Garlic Shrimp pasta you can clic the recipe link HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar. I used up the rest of the Huge shrimp we bought in Mexico last spring.
         I cleaned our shrimp we got from Mexico and they are huge, 10 in total cut them into 3 pieces each and added to the veggies to fry up for a few minutes until the pasta is done.

hit the spot and some leftovers as always.

          At 6 pm supper done and still 75f but we are enjoying some thunder and lightning. No problem we secure and stuff put away just because we knew it was coming. Like the weather Gods predicted.

 Where have we been this Winter?

Where are we today ?

           Today is going to be another wonderful one, great weather so we have a plan. Let's wander on down to the National Museum of Aviation in Pensacola Florida. Only 35 miles away. We were there 2 years ago and only scratched the surface of this amazing place to visit with only  a 4 hour visit. So we left here just before 9 am and got there in good time. This place has free admission and is really amazing,  if you get to this area you must visit. One day is not enough and even with a 2 day visit we have not seen everything.

         I took way to many pictures so will let you look at just a few. It is really a must do as far as we are concerned.

         So much to see on the main floor but the second floor has so much more, videos and displays we spent most of our time there this time.

       We had chosen to go to the Imx Theatre here, the video we wanted to watch was the one below. Yes it cost $8.25 each but with this huge theatre (85 ft wide screen)and effects sure was worth it.

         Next we took the Flight Line Trolley Tour (free) for an interesting 45 minute narrated tour of the outside displays.

         Now this display below was amazing and free too.

       This video was a 4d experience on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier, sounds, winds, noise and even the vibration of the the planes on the deck, was amazing !

       Then we wandered over to Hanger One, checked out some displays, watched a couple more short videos, then actually bought 2 tickets for the Blue Angels 4d experience. Another amazing presentation.
         Not really too bad of a day. Free admission, we spent 5 hours there, almost nonstop, packed our own lunch to save time and money and still did not have time to see everything we wanted. Guess we need to come back again in the future.

             Now its after 3 pm gonna head back home about a 45 minute drive. Our plan for supper was to BBQ some pork ribs on our Weber Q. But time was running out . So I went to Plan B. Have not done this for a while but works wonderful. Instead of a couple hours on the Q, I whipped out our pressure cooker, put a rub on the ribs, on top of a tiny trivet, 1/2 cup watter, sauerkraut and once under pressure about 12 minutes. So tender.

        Preheat the Weber Q and just brushed the ribs with a BBQ sauce I whipped up, then glazed them for about 12 minutes, so tender, tasty and fall off the bone good.

       That was it for another fun busy day, ending with a very tasty meal.
