A free lunch, great on a windy cloudy day and more Burros visiting

Where are we today ?

A cooler, windy, overcast beginning to our last day here. 60 f so not too bad for my first walkabout of the day, shortly after 7 am. Then at 8:15 I headed out for a few grocery supplies. Picked up a couple of good deals a nice beef rump roast 1/2 price ($6.01) and 2 nice size lobster tails for $7:98 (regular $35:98) so I saved more than I spent. Gotta ove those kinda shopping days.
Then at 11:30 we headed over to the clubhouse for this seminar on Holdings tanks for RV's and of course the free lunch. We can learn about our holding tanks and a bonus free lunch as well. Of course its's a sales presentation, but its a yucky very windy day out so why not? The seminar was very interesting and informative well worth going to and lunch was a bonus.
interesting seminar on holding tanks
and the free lunch a bonus!
a tasty free lunch hit the spot
Right after the seminar they did a demonstration of cleaning tanks (the winner of the Free draw, not us!) and how they do it. Quite an interesting system they use. Thought about getting ours done for a few seconds, but our tanks are working fine and not ready to spend $200. US for this service.
Back home by 2 pm and puttered around for a bit checked tire pressures and stored our Weber Q for travel in the morning. The wind never did let up all day and there was even small white caps on the river. So I dumped our sewage and stored our hoses just so I don't have to do that in the morning, Though no big rush to arrive tomorrow but prefer sooner than later. And we even enjoyed reading for a while inside, just too windy to enjoy sitting out there and no place that worked out of the wind and in the sun, even though it was 70 F the wind was chilly.
small whitecaps on the river
pretty quiet in the beach
the skies like this most all day
The day just flew by, reading does that to you and before we knew it time for supper. So tonight I preheated our propane oven and popped in some crispy breaded fish fillets for a change to go with our salad.
very tasty and reasonable
As we were finishing up supper Suzie noticed a bunch of burros wandering down the road across from us. 8 of them all together a decent size herd in the campground, just enjoying the scenery so quietly moseying along following the leader.
right across from us
heading to the beach
I guess they checked out at the office
and heading back home soon
must be off duty now.
just taking their time
hame before dark,
so nice to see them again
left turn past the Tiki Bar and pools, heading
to the exit I presume
These guys were gone now and I did manage to get a shot of a nice sunset among the clouds tonight.
the sunset peeked through just for a short time
Our last day here and have really enjoyed it by the river, the facilities, activities and the visiting burros, but time to head on out and once we leave here in the morning we are making our way back home to Ontario, only 56 days left to get back home and we don't like to rush too much. We can explore a bit more and enjoy more scenery along the way. These wheels sure like to keep turning.
Glad that you stopped by and thanks for taking the time to give us a read.

Champagne breakfast, cooler weather and wildlife in the park.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Very windy last night up to 25 mph and a cold north wind this morning only 52f. I bundled up for my first walkabout enjoying the cool fresh morning air, even though kinda chilly. I did notice a few tell tale traces of burrows wandering through the park. Made a large deposit behind a trailer just a few sites down from us. Yes they are in the area alright. And later this afternoon we saw a family of  wild burrows.
HI MAMA !
And she brought 3 young ones with her
Next walkabout  the views and a nice sunrise cross the river this morning and along the beach. Really whats' not to love about this area?
love the beach here too
With all the wind last night and this morning the palm trees were shedding. As I noticed around the park.
Then at 8:15am we wandered over to the Tiki Bar for our very first ever Champagne Breakfast which consisted of Ham, eggs, potatoes, danish, coffee, juice and Champagne for only $5.99 each. What a nice treat, hot, tasty and filling this will keep us going most of the day.
this sure took care of breakfast and then some
Couple more walkabouts and today is a day to enjoy our e-readers. Nothing once again on the agenda and just fine with  us. I finished one book , read 2 more books (short stories) and settled into another page turner. 4 books in one day !
short story
short story
ok another Patterson book I can get into
Enjoying our books I noticed something strange walking by outbox the corner of my eye.
where is this guy going?
Ok gotta check this out. The family wandered through the campsite next to us and a couple of neighbours as well. These are wild burrows, but used to people and the campgrounds around. They just make themselves at home and eat whatever they can find. We are in their living rooms so why not make them feel at home?
this be a youngster
Apparently they like the leaves that fall from the palm trees and are really having a buffet.
main course it looks like
he looks so lonely
Hmm looks like they found some more interesting food a camper left out some plants and stuff (they are not home).
hey Jack, what do we have here?
desert?
lets check out this table too, more treats!
they cleaned it all up and moved on down the road
was fun to see these guys here
Now back to our reading time after chatting with a few neighbours, Enjoying the view, our books, a few high speed boats and water skiers up and down the river. Just like being at the beach in the summer back home.
love the views of the river from here
But soon time for supper, with only our breakfast feast this morning under our belts, need to eat a bit more. Tonight a couple of Turkey burgers on the grill and Suzie wanted french fries. Heck the Tiki Bar right next store so while I did the burgers she grabbed an order of fries, The burger healthy , the fries not so much. We gotta get outta this place a bad influence me thinks!
burgers on the grill and a couple english muffins warming in foil
that was it very tasty and very filling
Supper done and another nice sunset to wind up a fun relaxing day with some wild company.
another nice sunset, almost every day,
really gotta love it
We did what we wanted today and enjoy it to the fullest, A bit cooler but the wind died down and was in shorts most of the day outside walkabouts reading and chatting with the wildlife, and neighbours  too.
Thank you for taking the time for a read and hope you had a great day as well.

Saturday morning after another great night's sleep. After breaky I got out for a nice walkabout as the sun was beginning to rise. Amazing how it warms everything up nicely as it appears for the day.
the sun rising over the river
gotta love it
Enjoying this weather still and a quite a few more walkabouts, chat with a few people just because I can and they are outside as well.
Then at noon after our tasty light lunch down to the clubhouse to check out the craft and bake sale. Not much we needed here but did pick up some gifts for the kids back home.
craft and bake sale
Enjoyed some nice reading in the shade and really felt like another dip in the pool and hot tub. So over there we go. The large pool was busy so the small pool and hot tub, nobody there and no volleyball today, very quiet, just the way I like it.
nice and quiet here,
perfect
After about 45 minutes we headed back home, past the large pool, Very busy lotsa noisy kids. Heck it is the weekend this can be expected, Nice that they have 2 pools here.
Back home more relaxing reading time in the shade only 82f today but still quite comfortable in the shade. This is the life .  Gonna cool down soon for a few days but we can handle that too.
About 4:30 time to whip up supper. Tonight grilling a large bone in chicken breast and some spaghetti squash with honey, Italian spice and parmesan cheese.
about 40 minutes later done to perfection
we shared the chicken breast
love our chicken
As this was about done I managed to catch another nice sunset right behind our coach.
getting ready
that was it for our sunset today
not too bad at all
Still enjoying this nice warm evening outside at 7:30 (66F) posting this and gonna read a bit more, Listening to the Karaoke at the Tiki bar, Another perfect winter day here in the southwest. Think we just may have a dance or 2 right here on our patio in the dark, within few nice songs that we can here right here.
Not complaints here and want thank y'all for stopping on by.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it

Today more of this amazing weather. Out and about for a nice walkabout the park at 7:30 as the sun rose over the river. Then back home we decided to take a drive up to the Parker Dam enjoying the scenery along the way .
34.7 miles today
As we approached the dam got a few pictures, then across it and south on 95 to Parker, A road we have driven many times before.
approaching the Dam
looking down river from the dam
now to drive slowly across the dam
kinda cool
From here our plan was to stop by the Bluewater Casino and see some of the boats for the Drag races here this weekend. The  Drag Boat Races at Blue Water Casino in Parker Arizona.  We could hear them roaring up the river and drove around and down the boat launch ramp.

Here we got lucky just by chance. We can get a first hand look at these amazing boats as they are being launched and heading to the starting line not far from us.
one of many beautiful boats
the gas ones move to the starting line under their own power usually,
the Highpower fuel dragsters get towed.
the roar of their thousands of horsepower is amazing
Gonna watch this one looks like it could be amazing. And was!
keeping an eye on this guy a fuel dragster
getting ready to launch
wow! the roar and take off was amazing
a few thousand horsepower here
less the 5 seconds and done
over 200 mph in 1,000 feet.
another roar and shaking the ground ,. awesome
in a few seconds they are gone
2 more , amazing
this tiny boat just flew down the strip
amazing
More boats coming in non stop, so nice to see them on land and in the water.
really get to see them here before they go in the water
Ok, Suzie enjoyed a bit of this with me and I got my fix, just wanted to see these guys in the water and see a few runs, listen to the power and it was very good, and it was free, love free !
From here a quick stop at Walmart and Beals outlet for Suzie to check things out nothing she saw ( a very quick in and out shopper) and back home by 11 am.
Just in time for a light lunch then I can get a few walkabouts this afternoon before it it gets to warm.
nice beach on the north side of the park too
Then about 2 pm we headed to the pool, I bribed Suzie if she sat with me while I swam I would buy her an ice cream here by the pool. Not hard to do, nice tables by the pool an out of the wind, very warm pool and spa for me.  So we relaxed a while I dried off and grabbed  a couple of  cones from the bar only $1;75 each, and was another very nice treat (we having too many treats here I think!).
love the quiet pool here
relaxing by the pool she is
these are small?
melting quickly in this warm weather
a few dogs relaxing by the pool in the shade
Back home now more reading time under the palm trees.
Now at 5 pm we have a fish fry right here at the clubhouse only $5.99 each so we have to check it out.
this was another wonderful meal we had here and a great price as well.
we got here early before the clubhouse gets too busy
Now no supper to make and no dishes to do we relaxed a bit more outside, Then just after 6 Pm they have Karaoke at theTiki bar right close to us.  What the heck we can check that out too. Busy spot but we got a seat in the corner, and enjoyed some decent singers for a while. We had one dance with a song by Patsy Cline (Crazy), as we headed back home.
Now just enjoying more of this weather here outside  at 7:30pm and still 70 F (21C) no complaints here thats for sure. We can still enjoy the songs right here from our site as long as we are outside. We have the perfect campsite here in this park.
Hope y'all had a great day and want to thank you for dropping on by again. Life is good every day when we are upright and breathing.
