Milder today, and drizzly, got a few things done outta the way.

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enlarge it
Was a bit warmer today, temps just above freezing, snow pretty well gone, and was drizzling off and on. 7:30 am drove about town and stopped by Pettigrew's garage. See if they could do an oil change on the car, no problem. That done and Mike checked the computer codes with his code reader. Seems number one cylinder is misfiring, I knew something was off. These computer systems are great when then can tell you the problem . Appears we need new spark plugs and wires, so they ordered them in and will be done tomorrow morning. They are still original on our 2002 Saturn with 213,000 kms (132,000 miles) on the odometer so not too bad at all. I could do it but would have to buy more new tools and gonna be way too cold here for a while yet.
the lawn is almost ready for me to mow it !
gotta be wramer though
Back home I began making a huge pot of chicken noodle soup from all the chicken bones I had frozen. I got the broth made and excess fat skimmed, and added the egg noodles I like but only had a few, so added a few pasta shells, then added a bit of rice and lotsa chicken. Well I ended up with a very tasty and VERY hearty chicken noodle Stew/soup (Stoup I call it). We will get quite a few lunches out of this. While doing this Suzie went to visit her Dad in the Stratford hospital, he is recovering very well from his surgery yesterday and should be back home in a day or two.
that's a huge pot of stoup
perfect for this weather
that bowl itself is a meal
Now that all done and lunch too, I prepped some baby back ribs to do in the oven (sure miss our Weber Q). The weather is just not right for it, plus the oven helps heat our coach too! Very similar process as on the Q just bake for a couple hours wrapped in foil with sauerkraut, then a foil lined sheet with our BBQ sauce. Still fall off the bone tender. The Weber Q recipe is here or on my top right sidebar.
While the ribs were slowly cooking I whipped up to New Hamburg got 2 miles done on the walking track and picked up a few more supplies. Back home, read for a bit then finish the ribs in the oven for a very tasty supper !
we do love ribs, almost as much as chicken
Now blog posted, relax a bit in front of the tube, fall asleep and Suzie wake me up at 9 to go to bed.  Life is wonderful ! Warmer would be nicer but it will come, after this very cold weekend ahead of us.
Hope you had a wonderful day as well, glad you stopped by.

  1. When you were describing the soup, I said to myself...It sounds like potpourri soup instead of chicken noodle soup. I see you name it Stoup...very clever indeed.

Suzi sounds like me each night. Paul falls asleep; I wake him up at 9:30; He goes to bed...same cycle most nights.

    1. My stoup started as chicken noodle but did not have enough noodles, only had a few pasta shells, so threw in some rice.
Nice to have a good woman to take care of us men.

  2. There's nothing better than chicken noodle soup inside when it's cold outside.
