Blair Station for RV parts (amazing) and a great day here in Desert Hot Springs.

Where are we today ?
Very warm overnight. in the high 50's so windows open and fantastic fan running made us quite comfortable for sleeping. And we did sleep very well.
After the standard computing and a pot of coffee got  a couple walkabouts done, Around the resort and really enjoying this great weather we are having here.
Palm Springs in the morning sun
Banning Pass and all the wind turbines
walkways right behind our coach
Check with Suzie and she requested spare ribs for supper. So on a mission into DHS Two big grocery stores here. Stater Bros has pork back ribs for $2.99 a Lb (good deal) so picked up a nice large slab for 7 bucks we will get 2 meals out of this.
Back home a bite for lunch then down the road in the other direction to check our Blair Station as recommended by Rick Doyle back in 2011 you can check out his posting HERE.  Need a new propane regulator for our coach. The old one is making weird noises and dripping liquid propane occasionally.
This place is very remote on the desert an unassuming but really quite amazing with the inventory and knowledge that Blair has. Really puts places like Camping World to shame.
does not look like much , but....
As soon as I came in Blair was there and got the exact part I needed, gave me advice on how to install this regulator, then I browsed the store , from room to room and building to building, amazing what they have here. Gonna go back again and look around, also very competitive prices too.
we can have a white Christmas here, just look at the mountain
Below is our old propane regulator, makes a whistling sound and drips liquid from the vent so needs to be replaced. New one says to replace every 10 years, ours is 15 years old so guess it was overdue.
old regulator
An easy job to do about 20  minutes, checked all the connections for leaks and we are good to go.
new regulator installed
Then got Suzie to come with me for another walkabout. This is a large park so lots of places to explore. Stopped by Joe and Betty's site they just arrived today. Chatted for a bit then back home to enjoy this wonderful afternoon weather reading for a while.
doe it get much better?
Then I wandered over the the spa and enjoyed the Hot pool and large swimming pool for a while before returning home to whip up supper.
The ribs in foil with sauerkraut for about 90 minutes on low on our Weber Q 100. Recipe HERE. Then on the grill with sticky BBQ sauce to glaze them.
Ribs and grilled peppers
Ribs, Kraut and a tasty salad, works for us
That was it for our great day here at Catalina Spa.
Hope you had a good one too and thanks for stopping in for a peek.

  5. Blair Station looks like a fun place to visit, even if you didn't need anything. We need more places like that.

  6. Blair station reminds me of a chandlery in Pickering, Ontario. The sign above the service desk said "If we don't have it, you don't need it".
Thanks for the ribs recipe, I will put that to the test soon.

Merry Christmas to you guys, and a happy new year too!

  7. Thanks for the shout-out George. Blair's is indeed a one-of-a-kind operation and he seems to have everything one would ever need for an RV. He's a very knowledgeable guy and has spare parts galore in his stock room.

  9. I was at Blair Station the other day to buy one of those gas filled rods that hold the outside compartment doors open. He had just the part I needed.

Once Christmas is over we will have to get some of the Bloggers who are here in DHS together for a blab session.

  11. We have dropped in to Blair Station several times, these past years, and we have always been able to get what we needed. I much prefer RV supply places like Blair Station over Camping World.

Ah....the great DHS weather! No complaints here on the BC coast though. The sun is out and the tempratures are very mild. Oh....and typically, the grass is green too.

    Merry Christmas.

  12. I could easily get lost for hours in a parts store like that. Good job on the regulator, better safe than sorry, no shortcuts with propane leaks!
