Winding up another fun day here in Texas, before we get back on the road.

Where are we today ?
We had a much cooler night last night, great for sleeping and up early as usual. The campground is pretty full and children almost everywhere (not where we are though) at 7 am!
Shortly after 8 am I headed to the store for a few things and noticed they were all heading to the front gate. Here there was many adults and vans here with trailer loads on canoes. Guess they are all heading out on and expedition, so many areas here for this type of activity.
lots of canoes here for the kids
Just down the road I spotted a very nice patch of Texas Blue Bonnets, you can read about them HERE.  In 1971 they were made the Texas State flower.
so  very impressive looking
they were located in front of this interesting abandoned
building just down the road from the resort
After puttering around for a while, just doing a few things here and there, ready to hit the road in the morning, we got together with our friends Rob and Pat for our final "Happy Hour" again, at least until the next time, whenever that will be.
It was overcast, windy and drizzly but they had a nice treat to take the dampness off. They picked up in Mexico. A very tasty Tequila Cream Liquor.
While sipping this we fired up both our "Fry Daddy's" to whip up a slew of chicken wings that Pat had supplied, and another whole mess of fresh cut fries.
what a great way to enjoy an early supper.
Just added some celery and carrot sticks, blue cheese dip, my hot sauce for me, gravy (and Ketchup !) for Rob's fries and we had a feast! Now thats my kind of happy hour, no supper needed now. A great good bye party enjoying this almost perfect day. If it had not been for the wind, rain, clouds and cooler temps it would have been perfecter (is there such a word?) Well you know what I mean.
Good friends, and good food, who cares about the weather?
Thanks for stopping by for a read again. Hope you had an awesome day too.
In the morning back on the road slowly heading Northeast towards Ontario. Still not perfect weather there yet. We bring the heat with us we hope!

  1. Yes, better make it very slowly. We're home and having to run the furnace in the rig while it's parked in the driveway because the nights are chilly. I don't want to have to winterize again, so we'll run the furnace which is ducted to the water areas. Enjoy the warmth.......

    1. We have never winterize this rig yet since we bought it on 2006, we live in it no matter where we are so not a big problem there.
Still have 10 days for it to warm up a bit.

  2. The blue bonnets are really looking great now that we've had a little rain. Your dinner/happy hour snack looks delicious.... glad the nasty weather didn't slow you down. Hope your travels are pleasant and that warm weather is ahead of you all the way.

    1. Thanks Sharon, love the Blue Bonnets here, thanks for pointing them out the other day.
The weather was not that nasty, at least it was npt snowing, remember we are from Canada and have camped in lots of snow, it used to be more fun when we were younger.

  3. George, please find out where they got that Tequila Creme Liqueur. I have never seen it here. Bet it is a border town thing.

    1. We also had never heard of this product. Turns out that it is a 100% Mexican drink, and for sale in Walmarts and Sorianas throughout Mexico.

  4. We're hoping that it warms up before you get home because we get home the day after you and we've become allergic to the cold.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  5. I'm glad you put the word slowly in there about moving north. I'm hoping since the weather is warming up here that means it's warming up everywhere. But be careful with all those storms going through. We had chicken wings for dinner also but I grilled veggies rather than fix french fries.( I'd rather have the fries but the veggies were better for us. I guess.)

  7. Do you store the fry daddy with oil in it or do you empty it and wash it every time?

    1. Oil stays in it until it gets dirty enough to change. no need to drain and wash. Depends what you are cooking, In the restaurant I drained it once a week, but it sure got a lot of use there.
