Movin' on down the road, is always fun ! And a Happy St.Patricks Day.

Where are we today ?
Happy St Patrick's Day
On the road early (8 am) as we knew we would be. Perfect weather for travelling and so nice to be on the road again. We are slowly making our way back to Ontario, about 3,000 miles but the weather is not good there so why hurry? We don't want to rush at the last minute.
So left here and headed to St. David Arizona, We can stay here with our ROD membership for two weeks, no overnight fees. 30amp, water and sewer, love these camping fees!
291 miles today
After two fuel stops, 1st one in Yuma, the first time we have fueled our coach in 67 days! These short trips tend to use not much fuel. Second stop at the Flying J in Eloy Arizona to top up our tank and have a bite to eat for lunch. We will now have enough fuel to get us to Texas whenever we decide to leave here.
heading east on I-8 through the foothills.
not much traffic
desert scenery
now those are big tires!
Before we know it heading into Benson AZ, down in the Valley.
nice small town we enjoy
Down the main street  of Benson and a scenic train traveling the tracks, kinda cool.
A few more miles down the road to ST. David and the rv park here. Not sure if it is Western Horizon anymore (the signage is gone) but our ROD membership worked for two weeks of free camping, thats all that matters to us.
All checked in and set up by 3pm, nice warm sunny day, with a cool breeze and a great view.
all the ducks in a row welcoming us here
we home again
nice view to the west
neighbor, with a small coach an big trailer
they even have a nice "CAT HOUSE" for kitty.
our view looking east
They are having a St'Patrick's day meal at 5 pm and we could have joined in for $9.00 each. But we had planned an easy meal tonight on the Q and our own Corned beef and Cabbage meal on the Weber, probably tomorrow if all goes well. Better food and much cheaper too.
So tonight after relaxing with our books for a while grilled a couple salmon burgers, more fresh asparagus (that we love) and some homemade potatoes salad I had made for yesterday's dinner that never happened after our Chinese buffet.
a few minutes on our Weber Q is all it takes.
added a few fresh strawberries and really hit the spot
Wrapped up supper, enjoyed a wonderful sunset
from our site, then we will call it a night
Glad you could enjoy our road trip with us, thanks for stopping by. We will relax here for a while then carry on. Could be a week maybe two will see how the spirits move us.

  1. HI George:
We're heading opposite directions to get home. I passed through Quartzite and pulled in to Hidden Beaches RV resort on the Colorado River in Blythe, CA early this afternoon - after a very easy drive from Goodyear, AZ. I'm really thinking seriously about making the southwest my winter destination next fall, rather than the southeast - where I froze my tootsies - and lots more, this winter.
Hey, George, I don't know what ROD is? It sounds very interesting - 2 weeks free???!!! Let me know. Enjoy your new adventure - for this year anyway!

    1. Free as in no overnight fees. ROD is "Resort of Destinction", Purchase a membership for big bucks, pay yearly fees and overnight camping is free. In the end It has saved us lots of money because we use the systems of our membership parks almost exclusively year round being fulltime since 2006.

  2. We had our ROD membership but then Thousand Trails opted out. We weren't happy but at least we still have the RPI which also works at $10 a night. The problem is with any of our membership parks is having them in the right locations.

    1. We don't really have to many destinations like you do visiting family, but with our memberships have access to over 700 parks in North America from free to half price.

  3. Also George, you seem happy just going from park to park that is within your membership. Not everyone likes to do that. Happy that it works for you.

    1. We sure do love to keep moving, suits us perfectly, and saving money helps us enjoy the lifestyle we like, hoping we don't run out of money too soon.

  4. That little cat house is really clever. We'd likely forget to remove it before bringing in the slide.

  6. I concur that heading back eastward - slowly - seems fitting with the poor weather eastern Canada is experiencing.

    1. Thought that was a great idea for kitty. Maybe 14 days here then work our way across the midwest.

  9. The ROD sounds very interesting, and we can't wait to talk to you about it this summer when we hopefully meet you at Rock Glen. Not sure what the RPI is mentioned by Wanderin' but we would not have specific destinations because of family either. Your meal puts mine to shame, they are so splendidly laid out! Nice touch and I'm sure a great taste. My husband shudders at the asparagus but I love it!

    1. Hopefully you can come out to Rock Glen when we there can give you some tips. There is so many membership options available and this works great for us.
I never used to like asparagus until I got good thin fresh and not overcook it.
