Day trip to Hermann and Swiss Missouri with perfect weather, gotta love it !

Where are we today ?
Another great sleep last night and I thought I woke up at my usual time. My clock said 5:15 am perfect I thought. Got up, made coffee turned on my computer and the news from Ontario. Then about an hour later Suzie got up , Checked the time here in the Kitchen hmmm.. 5:15 am Guess I forgot to change my bedroom clock to the new time zone.  No problem we are morning people so got lotsa stuff done before the sun came up, just the way we like it.

About 7:30 I whipped to the Walmart in Owensville and picked up a few groceries. Back home before 9 am and Suzie had her shower and we can head on out.
Today we want to go check out Hermann Missouri. There is 7 winery's ,1 distillery and 1 Micro brewery, wow we could spent days here ! Thats not our plan just want to check out the town. And it is a small town population 2,700 , now thats our style, no big cities for us. But it is a very touristy town too, Lotsa restaurants and gift shops. A lot of nice old buildings and German heritage is very prominent.

The Tin Mill Brewery would have been nice to check out but not open yet. Maybe another time.
Lots of German style pubs and restaurents.
Lewis and Clark crossed the Missouri river here in 1806
Amtrak train passing through town
Missouri River
Now to check out the Stone Hill Winery free tours and we arrived just as one was starting. The very interesting caverns(or whatever) for making and aging their wines. A very informative and interesting tour one of the best we have ever done.Tastings were offered at $5.00 per person but we passed, not really expensive wine drinkers. At 35 % exchange that would be over $13.00 Canadian just to sample their wines, besides it was 10:30 am.
interesting wine travel mug
lots f interesting wines here, but too expensive for us
This is for the serious wine drinker,
Contessa you need one !
Heading back home we had to stop at Swiss Sausage and Meats. We have been here a few times in the past and love all their products. We sampled lots and and enjoyed the tastings here, free! We like free.
We did not leave empty handed as you can see below all chicken products except the Mini ham which is soo good, had it before.
stocking up again, but our freezer is only so big !
Now heading back to camp, love the road names here all alphabet letters, our road is ZZ. Takes us to Lost Valley Lake.
Back home for lunch and did a load of laundry. Only had one load but how can you resist for only .75 cents to wash and .75 cents to dry. We good to go for a while again.
With a beautiful sunny day and no wind we sat outside for a couple hours doing what we both enjoy, reading our e-readers, sure can't beat that, during our Happy hour.
Of course while doing this fired up our Weber Q 100, grill a couple chicken thighs. Sure smells nice reading outside grilling chicken. Yep we love chicken.
the afternoon sun is going away but supper is done
time to head inside
2 acorn squash 1/4s and 2 chicken thighs
add a  fresh salad and did the trick
That was our fun day relaxing and enjoy this wonderful weather and new places. Tomorrow back on the road heading west through Oklahoma and eventually southern Arizona at some point.
Thanks for the visit and if you can find us drop on by. We friendly just take us as we are.

Yep we had a real good nights sleep. Temps in the mid 40's f last night=perfect.
This morning lots of walkabouts the resort with clear blue skies and no wind . Love this weather! Up to the mid 70's f does it get much better? Think not.
Chat with a few neighbours then we can head on down the road to Swiss Sausage and meat the main reason we came here. To stock up with their wonderful products. We discovered this place last fall and they have "The Best of the Wurst". Yep we do enjoy their products and lots of free samples to check out what you are buying.

Now back home for lunch and now we can enjoy our books on a perfect sunny warm day, did I say the temps in the mid 70's? Think I did, just reminding you in case you forgot.
the view we have so peaceful here, ok
a few woodpeckers can be loud.
Then Suzie got to play with Freddie for a while, getting her doggie fix.
Freddie is an amazing dog/puppy only about 2 1/2 years old
thats our coach, pretty quiet here
It's our last day here so we got together, with Ron, Loree, Jim and Linda for a nice short happy hour, we on the road in the morning. Will probably meet up with these guys this summer in Ontario Canada, somewhere.
wonderful sunny day for a nice social time,
almost too hot, at least I was wearing shorts
Time is done to be social, so I can now fire up our Weber Q, easy supper tonight. Couple grilled salmon burgers.
5  minutes per side
Then a rare treat for us this pasta side dish the we enjoy occasionally, just add a bit more fresh broccoli.
some tomato, lettuce and light mayo,
on the bun, sure hit the spot
Now that was our awesome day, enjoying more of this great weather while we can. Visit with friends a bit more then heading on down the road in the morning.
Would like to say thanks for stopping by again, hope you had a wonderful Wednesday too.

Sunshine and a nice country drive to Swiss Missouri, was awesome!

Where are we today ?
Another great night's sleep we had, cold yes but we toasty warm inside. This morning's walkabout was refreshing and clear blue skies. Some ground frost and a bit of fog but really enjoyed it.
love the deer and bear footprints thats they
put in the cement sidewalks too.
nice fall colors with the morning sun too
Then about 11 am we took Rob and Pat for a tour about this huge resort. They have Teepee camping, and tent type camping too as well as many rental trailers and cabins.
teepees here
tents here
nice beaches too!
Then a nice country drive about 10 miles to Swiss MO and Swiss Meat and sausage Co. It looked like an interesting place to go after checking their website and close by as well. A tiny village with really just the store and church here.
Well this place is a destination all in its own.
They have awards lining their walls from all over. 51 different types of sausage alone! And we got to taste a whole bunch of their priducts right here. Demonstrations and information.
Awards line the walls
tasty samples
so many choices
Now after looking at all they had and all the free samples we thought maybe have a Braut on a bun, very reasonable prices here too!

Suzie had baked potato and cheese Brautwurst
hot german potato salad too
me jalapeno and onion Braut with
hot german potato salad
neat preserves, Apple Butter,
Sweet potato butter, etc...
They also had a special on the sausage so we picked up a bunch of products and made our way back to camp enjoying this wonderful outing on a beautiful sunny day.
Deer hunting season here right now,
they do custom butchering here too,
love the staffs t shirts.
Now back at the resort and checking out a few more of their huge buildings they have here with so much to do.
on the indoor mini golf course
Now a wonderful sunny afternoon we had time to enjoy our books for a while then an early social hour with our friends. But with the time change it starts to get cooler shortly after 4 pm as the sun begins to set. So inside and whip up a tasty supper. Some specialty Fettucine we picked up in Texas last winter and a couple fully cooked and smoked BBQ'D pork steak we picked up this afternoon at Swiss. Steamed broccoli and we has a very tasty supper.
sure hit the spot and a few leftovers as usual
That was another fun day we had here in Missouri and would like to thank ya'll for stopping on by too.
Even Rob and Pats' Lady girl says thanks too!
