Heading to New York but an overnight stop to visit along the way.

Where are we today ?
Up and ready to hit the road this morning but in no rush. Just down the road 82 miles to visit with A good friends of ours Christine and Bill. Her and Suzie grew up together with their families across the road from each there back on the farm near New Hamburg.
135 kms ( 82 miles) today
Puttering around waiting for the early morning rain to let up then secured our coach and hit the road about 10:30 this morning after saying so long to of friends here at Rock Glen. Arrived at their place by noon, and the girls began to chat and chat some more. Bill and I talked a bit and puttered around keeping busy doing stuff all afternoon. I got things set up here along with our Weber Q. The plan is a grilled pork loin roast and my version of scalloped potatoes wrapped in foil on the grill. So easy and no muss or fuss. For the recipe click HERE or check my recipe blog on the top right of my sidebar. I just doubled the recipe  to serve 4 and used cream of Broccoli soup instead of Mushroom soup. Chris does not like mushrooms.
As soon as we got there the girls began to catch up,
it takes a while after a year
I enjoy the visit to, but every so often out side to finish setting up, and prepare supper. They have a nice large lot and a great place to hang out for a the night and visit.
our spot for the night
Fired up our Weber Q start the roast and scalloped taters, low and slow. Less the an hour pork perfect at 145f and and taters too.
ready to go
we added some frozen mixed veggies pretty tasty
Chris had whipped up a nice rhubarb crisp, rhubarb from their garden.
love rhubarb
add a little dream whip hit the spot
Next thing we know its 9 o'clock. We been there chatting for 9 hours! Well mostly the girls, but its always a fun visit. Thanks guys for the wonderful visit parking spot for the night and awesome desert.
AND tomorrow is Chris's birthday Happy Birthday Chris, I just know she will have a great day, now that we are leaving !!!
Now in the morning we heading to Caledonia New York ( Near Rochester) for a wedding on saturday. Not sure if the camp ground has internet and we are no paying $60.00 to activate our verizon Mifi for two days of usage. So if you don't hear from us for  a couple days, we busy having fun with a whole mess of friends at the wedding.
this we we heading for the weekend
So thanks again for stopping by, we had fun today and just know we will have a fun weekend.  Great weather predicted too.
We will checkin in if we can if not see y'all early next week.

More sunshine and I cooked supper on a Napoleon Grill !

Where are we today ?
Nice sunny bright day and much warmer, temps in the high 70's today (26c) perfect. Chatting with Chris and Bill this morning over morning coffees then we took a nice country drive down past Delhi to check out a 25 acre property they are thinking of purchasing to build a new house on. Needs some TLC but looks like a perfect place for them, will see what evolves.
Then a stop in the local grocery store in town and back to putter around for a while. Before relaxing under the gazebo beside to pool for a few nibbles and friendly conversation.
Nice hanging plant here too
A few friends dropped by for a short visit and Suzie got to check out some of her dogs. Chris has a kennel licence and for years has breed Schauzers as well as white or black Pugs . They have a beautiful Kennel with ceramic tile floor, fireplace, kitchen and washing machine.

Before long its my turn to whip up supper. Gonna try out their new Napoleon BBQ. Its is huge, much bigger than we can take in our coach and is a good quality grill. So I gonna try it out. Nothing to exotic just roast some potatoes, fresh carrots, green peppers and onions from the garden (in foil) and grill a few boneless pork chops. Oh yeah and a garlic bread loaf.
A nice grill but kinda big for us
This new grill performed very well , even thou it was not a Weber, no problems with supper, the secret is low and slow.
Taters, carrots in foil , chops and garlic bread
fresh beefsteak tomatoes from their garden too!
Really hit the spot tonight again,
Sorry Rick no desert
Then a bit more fun on the deck and time to call it a night.
One thing I can agree on is if you have a very good quality (not cheap) grill they will perform very well.
Fun to visit with old friends and catch up, but on the road in the morning a bit further south in southern Ontario. Should be an interesting day, not sure if we will have internet or even cell phone service there, (Long Point Provincial Park if we can get a site, no reservations, but we like to wing it) almost in the middle of Lake Erie.
Thanks for coming on by and really hope you had a great summer saturday too.

Relocating on down the road, to visit some good friends.

Where are we today ?
Very cool again this morning but great for sleeping, gonna warm up for the weekend thou, looking forward to it.

Putter around a bit this morning with a walkabout then secure our coach for the long trip today. 25 miles down the road towards Norwich to visit some friends for a couple days, we have not seen them for a while, Christine and Bill. Suzie and Chris were farm neighbors when they were growing up so their friendship goes back a long way.
Did not even hook up the car, she wanted to go for a drive and just follow me down the road. A nice country drive on a sunny day.
25 miles (41kms)
On the way here we passed a lot of tobacco farms and ginseng farms as well such nice farm country here.
tobacco fields
Ginseng in these fields under sunshields
We arrived there before noon a quick setup and visit with Chris for a while, tour their house and check out all the work they have done here in the last two years. A very nice place but a lot of maintenance.

Bill got home and we relaxed on their deck around the pool, chat and catchup with lots of news and family stuff.
relaxing by the pool
nice pond in the front yard
fresh veggies in the garden
Christine had prepared a wonderful tasty pork roast in the slow cooker, mashed potatoes, fresh green and yellow beans and beets all from her garden. Once again no cooking for me tonight, my turn tomorrow.
oh so tasty!
fresh from the garden
Amazing how much conversation can carry on after a couple years on not getting together. The day just flew on by. Oh and after a bit we had an awesome blueberry cheesecake for desert.
excellent cheesecake too
Not it getting dark and cooler too, so time to call it a day. So nice to get together with friends and do some catching up. We still have tomorrow too.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you are enjoying this warmer weather too.
