There is no way I can top Al Bossence blog today. His words are very comforting. https://www.thebayfieldbunch.com/2024/01/there-never-was-too-much-distance.html#comment-form.
I also just realized that it has been over a year since I did a post. Where has the time gone.
I am going well, heathly and continuing on with my life.
During the fall/winter, I go to my grandson #4 hockey games as much as possible. He plays for the New Hamburg Huskies, about 20 minutes away. Now that we have snow, more coming, I will not be going as much. I still, after 13 years of not driving in the snow, have not got my confidence back. I even have winter tires now but still I'm very cautious driving in snow. Before we got snow, I travelled locally to games, if you consider 1 hour drive local. In the October a friend, Janet, from here in the building and myself went to a hockey tournament in Kincardine daily, to watch my grandson play. Early November, I took my him to Niagara on the Lake for a tournament. It was great to spend quality time with him. Unfortunately, the team did not win those tournaments but did win the New Hamburg one between Christmas and New Years. Much easier games to go to. So, over the winter I will continue to go his games, when the roads are good.
This past summer I was at Rock Glen several times and enjoyed visiting with people, some who I haven't seen since 2019. I have been keeping myself busy, with what not sure, but I always manage to fill my day.
You just never know, when I will get in the car and go for a road trip, as I call it. It could be to Grand Bend to the flea market, St. Jacobs Market or whatever suits my fancy. Janet and I, took a road trip to Costco in Waterloo, with a stop in Wellesley for strawberries, stop in Hawkesville to go to Sunnycrest Home Baking, (bought a lot of desserts there, great prices and delicious), then to Heidelburg for lunch at The Olde Heidelburg Inn, (great food & service), finally to Costco. You just never know where I or Janet & I will end up.
I have made plans with my sister and brother-in-law to go to Alaska for a cruise in August. I have also, been doing researching on cruising for the future. Maybe in 2025 I will be in the Carribean. I have found that several cruise lines have solo cabins without have the single supplement of double the cost of 2 people. NCL, Norwegian Cruise Lines, have great options, so looking at them for 2025.
Even though George has passed away, he is never far my daily thoughts. I'm sure he would be pleased with me wanting to cruise. Besides RV'ing, cruising was something we both enjoyed.
Thanks again, Al, for your great tribute to George and the comments on your blog. It warms my heart with the comments and brings back very pleasant memories of our travels.

ReplyDeleteI miss the Weber Q cooking. haha
DeleteGlad to hear you are doing well Suzie. I'm not surprised by your cruise ideas because I remember George blogging about your cruise travels years ago and how much you both enjoyed it. I was surprised too when I realized it was four years ago that George passed away. I thought it was three until I started putting my post together Sunday. All the best to you and hold those thirty years of memories close to your heart.
ReplyDeleteIt was your post that reminded me that yesterday was the 15th. That day I will never forget. My memories are always close by. Look me up sometime when you are in the Stratford area. I may even look you up.
DeleteGeorge isn't far from our thoughts either. Just so you know, we talk about him (and you) all the time, in every RV group I run into. Thank you for catching up with us all. We miss you both!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy. May things I miss about RV'ing, but I think the best thing was the Happy Hours.
DeleteIt's good to hear that you're doing well and getting out there and doing things. We never met but the blog brought us some good times.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the blog.
DeleteThis was lovely, Suzie, catching up. George is never far from our minds either, nor you. Your ears must burn when you are mentioned. Always positive, of course!🥰
ReplyDeleteYour cruising will be fun and yes, George would be so proud.
I'm glad your conversations are positive about us. I still have my ears, so they burned away, yet. Haha
DeleteI’m happy to hear you are continuing to broaden your activities and venturing out a bit farther little by little. It is too easy to slip into a rut without your best friend by your side encouraging, enjoying, and smiling as the adventures keep coming. We miss you both Suzie and wish you smooth waters, light winds and great adventures on the high seas. George would be very proud and happy that you are moving forward and enjoying life again. We are all looking forward to reading about your next adventure! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteDeb
Thanks Deb. You never know, I may even visit you on the island.
DeleteI will try to post more often. I'm in Stratford and really enjoy the apartment that George & I got. It was a great decision at a difficult time.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to read this catch up of what is going on with you. Sounds like you are keeping busy and out of trouble...😊 Looking forward to hearing about the cruises you have planned.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to believe George has been gone four years and five years since we have seen you in person. I am sure he looks down on you with that wonderful smile of his and is proud of how you have moved ahead with your life even while missing him. We think of you often especially now while we are parked in Quartzsite and you are both missed. Take care and stay safe (I do not miss driving on snowy icy roads.) Hugs
Thanks for your wonderful words. I see his smile every day when I get up. Hugs back to you guys.
