Remembrance Day and Snow Is a four letter word.........

Where are we today ?
Remember them November 11th,
I would like to share this with you

It is the VETERAN , not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN , not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN , not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN , not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN , not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN ,
who salutes the Flag,

It is the VETERAN ,
who serves under the Flag,

ETERNAL REST GRANT UNTO THEM, O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

I do remember my grandfather in WW1 overseas,(he told me so many stories about that time) my uncles who served and my father who was ready to go but WW11 ended before he was able to go there. they fought for our freedom and we are so proud.
My Grand father,
George Shepherd Yates WW1
Early morning walkabouts I got to enjoy these bright flowers at this time of year, wonderful!
We both enjoyed a great day, sunshine and clouds, warm temperatures and neighbors dropping by to chat.  Nice social hour then time to fire up our Weber Q to bake a couple taters, pork chops and garlic bun with cheese. Added some steamed broccoli and we enjoyed a very tasty supper.
our Weber works awesome
sure hit the spot
We had a great day here and hope you did too.
Found this video on the internet below. It says it all about us SNOW BIRDS, especially Canadian ones. But sure applies to all you northern USA residents too. If you have the bandwidth click on the video, am sure you will enjoy it!  SNOW IS A FOUR LETTER WORD!
So glad that you could drop on by and have fun with us today. Management came by and told us to turn off our water and disconnect hoses tonight supposed to be 22f and maybe S%@W tonight, we will see.
         Thanks for stopping by!

  3. MY grandfather did the same - telling me how it was.And it wasn't pretty. He has seen thousands dying in the trenches of Flanders. Of course, he was on the other side and that's probably the reason why people in Germany have a somewhat different relationship to their veterans. There is no hero's glory for them who lost their lives for a bad cause. And it was all repeated and got worse after WWII.

  4. Great poem! S N O W is definitely a four-letter word. That's why folks from the north rush south. Thank goodness we get to do the same.

  5. My Dad served in WWII but he really didn't talk about it very much. He was always very active in the VFW and American Legion and one of the most patriotic men I've ever known. I am so grateful for all of those men who served for all of us.

  9. Hope the S**W passes you by.

My grandfather also served in WWI, with the English Army Machine Gun Corps. Wish I had a photo of him in uniform.
