Check out the interactive map at the bottom of the page, places we have visited
Sun. May 25th
Finally a nice warm sunny day. Last night a bunch gathered to celebrate a 65th birthday with our neighbour Lova. With a nice big campfire and cake, icecream and coffee. Even the wagon ride around the park stopped to sing Happy Birthday to her. A good time was had by all.
Mon. May 19th
We have been at Rock Glen for 2 weeks and enjoy all the familiar faces with lots of activities. The indoor pool and hot tub is also nice and not busy during the week. This weekend the campground is pretty full , but the cool damp weather probably kept a few away. There has been activities going on all weekend, wagon rides around the campground and a dance saturday night at the clubhouse. On sunday we took a drive to Grand Bend to take in the Pinery Fleamarket and local flavour. Today we are looking foward to a visit from my oldest daughter, son in law and 2 grandsons. Next Monday we will be heading to Lazy Lakes, Sanborn NY. for 2 weeks.
Mon. May 5th
Off to Rock Glen Resort in Arkona, Ontario for 3 weeks. And tour about Ontario visiting with family and friends for the summer months.
Sat. May 3rd
Was retirement party for a good friend Marc with many friends, neighbours and co-workers there that we had not seen for a few years. A really nice visit.
Fri. Apr 25th
Back at the farm and a busy week ahead of us with visiting family, friends, doctor's appointments and service on our coach.
Tue. Apr. 22
We are on the road to journey back to Ontario. Traveling thru North Carolina,Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York then home. Stopping for the night at one Flying "J" Travel Plaza and two Walmart Supercentres. The roads we great and nice scenery on the secondary highways. Coming thru the mountains in Pennsylvania was a challenge with the very steep grades, but great views.
Sat. Apr.19th
We enjoyed relaxing around our campsite today and a nice traditional supper of BBQ chicken and potatoes. Then after supper we walked to The Alabama Theatre next to the campground at Barefoot Landing and thoroughly enjoyed a show by the Oakridge Boys. This was a fantastic show by a group that has been together for over 35 years. Most of their hit songs such as Elvira, You’re the one, Trying to love two women, Bobbie Sue, Thank God for Children etc. kept us entertained for more than 1 & ½ hours. The amazing part was the energy that these guys put into their show (for their age) and all the seniors who have followed their music for over 3 decades, many acting like teenagers. After the show we had a nice stroll through Barefoot Landing back home in the mild evening air.

Fri. Apr. 18th
Back again to enjoy the beach setting with Ron, Mary, Jon and Angelo we had a traditional Louisiana Style shrimp boil. Pounds of fresh shrimp boiled in huge pots of water with potatoes, onions, corn, mushrooms and Cajun spices. When cooked this is spread over a table covered with newspapers and y’all enjoy! We took a Caesar salad to add to the menu, another amazing seafood feast.
Thurs. Apr. 17th
We went to check out The Original Benjamin’s Seafood Buffet for supper after an amazing warm day again. An awesome seafood spread and decor of the restaurant was enjoyed. Fresh hot crablegs by the bucket full, along with fresh shrimp and almost every variety of seafood you could think of scallops, oysters, clams, squid, salmon, mahi-mahi, tuna, catfish, even ham, pork chops, steak, prime rib, salad bar, pasta bar, desert bar, all cooked various different ways. What great way to sample
great fresh seafood
.

Wed. Apr. 16th
Being a little cooler day, we joined Jon, Angelo, Ron & Mary for short drive to Broadway at the Beach. A huge Disney Like area with amazing, scenery, buildings, stores, rides, waterways, more extravagant mini golf courses and a huge number of restaurants. After hours of walking and browsing we stopped by Key West Grill for a light seafood lunch, then back home to relax outside for a while.
Sun. Apr 13th
We received a phone call from Jon & Angelo (from Lafayette Louisiana) who we met at North Shore Resort in Georgia. They were staying at Apache Family Campground (about 4 miles away), on the beach, with friends Ron & Mary from Grand Island New York. We dropped by and visited for a while and enjoyed the Beach and their company. We all took a walk out the 1200 ft pier to enjoy the view and watched the many people fishing. It was another nice day, even though a little windy on the beach.

Fri. Apr. 11
Is a nice sunny day 78f (26c) we took a drive south about ½ hour south to Murrell’s Inlet to check out the Marsh Walk. This is a boardwalk along the edge of the saltwater marsh connecting many of the seafood restaurants. It is a small town away from all the commercialism. This was a nice walk with the boats, statues, birds, egrets, pelicans and friendly people. We sampled an appetizer of Buffalo Shrimp at the Dead Dog Saloon, they were awesome! From here we headed back north along Ocean Blvd. stopping at a couple of places to check out the views and the endless beaches. Then back home to relax in the shade.
Thurs. Apr.10.
The Dixie Stampede was a great dinner show, in an indoor arena with a Buffalo Stampede, trick riding, chuck wagon races, miniature pig races, miniature horse races, friendly North/South rivalry, ( we were seated in the North), with lots of singing and special effects. And a great meal of a whole Rotisserie chicken , bowl of soup, fresh hot rolls, smoked pork chop, potato, corn on the cob, apple turnover ( no utensils, eat with your hands) , and of course a “People Bag” to take home your leftovers enough for another 2 meals. No cameras were allowed but I managed to sneak a few pictures with no flash and my mini tripod.
Tues. Apr. 8
A nice 5 hr drive today to North Myrtle Beach arriving at Briar Cliff Resort shortly after 2.00pm. This is on the Intercoastal Waterway next to Barefoot Landing.( a nice walking waterway shopping and eating place) We walked over to Barefoot Landing looking for some seafood. The information desk gave us directions and offered us free supper and free tickets for the Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede if we took in a Time share presentation on Wednesday. Well we enjoyed our free Seafood Buffet at Prestons, and the awesome Dixie Stampede dinner theatre on Thursday ( $115.00 value) just for attending the 3 hour presentation for the condos on Wednesday ( it was overcast anyway).
Tues. Apr 1st
We drove from Unadilla to North Shore Resort, near Greensboro Georgia about 2 ½ hrs. It was overcast and a very slight drizzle at times but got hot and sunny by the time we arrived, 11:30am. This is another very nice ROD membership campground with terraced sites overlooking Oconee Lake. Cherry blossoms blooming and nice fresh air. We have free wifi and a nice mini golf. The prevalence of old restored and renovated rail cars is everywhere. Three dinning cars at the entrance boxcars as offices, washrooms, country store and even many outfitted as cabins for accommodations. They also have 2 outdoor pools, a nice beach and waterfront campsites with docks for your boats We met a couple from Rock Glen Resort in Ontario that we have played darts and shared a campfire with and they gave us a tour of their waterfront caboose, very unique. We also chatted with 4 other couples whose home park is Lazy Lakes Resort in Niagara Falls New York, where we frequently stay. Greensboro is a small town about 8kms away, very nice with lots of Antique stores and well maintained huge old buildings. This resort is a very peaceful setting, allowing us to relax before our 2 week stay at busy Myrtle Beach.
