Where are we today ?
Remember them November 11th,
I would like to share this with you
I would like to share this with you
It is the VETERAN , not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN , not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN , not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN , not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN , not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN ,
who salutes the Flag,
It is the VETERAN ,
who serves under the Flag,
ETERNAL REST GRANT UNTO THEM, O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.
I do remember my grandfather in WW1 overseas,(he told me so many stories about that time) my uncles who served and my father who was ready to go but WW11 ended before he was able to go there. they fought for our freedom and we are so proud.
Early morning walkabouts I got to enjoy these bright flowers at this time of year, wonderful!

We had a great day here and hope you did too.
Found this video on the internet below. It says it all about us SNOW BIRDS, especially Canadian ones. But sure applies to all you northern USA residents too. If you have the bandwidth click on the video, am sure you will enjoy it! SNOW IS A FOUR LETTER WORD!
Thanks for stopping by!

Check out the map below to see where we have been this Winter
I didn't feel like spoiling your day but the car and truck are both white. Kathy and I both loved the video. Be Safe and Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's about time.
Better white for you than us thou, take care.
DeleteBeautiful poem. AMEN to the thank you to all servicemen and women!
ReplyDeleteCute video and ooooooooh so true.
Thanks you.
DeleteThe video is true and we are so lucky to be able to do that.
MY grandfather did the same - telling me how it was.And it wasn't pretty. He has seen thousands dying in the trenches of Flanders. Of course, he was on the other side and that's probably the reason why people in Germany have a somewhat different relationship to their veterans. There is no hero's glory for them who lost their lives for a bad cause. And it was all repeated and got worse after WWII.
ReplyDeleteNo it was not pretty thats for sure.
DeleteGreat poem! S N O W is definitely a four-letter word. That's why folks from the north rush south. Thank goodness we get to do the same.
ReplyDeleteYes thank goodness, we are so lucky to be able to do this.
DeleteMy Dad served in WWII but he really didn't talk about it very much. He was always very active in the VFW and American Legion and one of the most patriotic men I've ever known. I am so grateful for all of those men who served for all of us.
ReplyDeleteSo many did so much for our countries.
DeleteLovely tribute to those that served.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteGreat poem George and glad you have not come across any of that white stuff! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWe are too! It is a for letter word for us.
DeleteGreat poem. I liked the picture of your Grandfather. He looks like he was a person who liked to smile. I know he put a smile on my face just looking at the picture. Love you blog. I follow you everyday. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping on by and commenting.
DeleteHope the S**W passes you by.
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather also served in WWI, with the English Army Machine Gun Corps. Wish I had a photo of him in uniform.
The s**w has missed us so far, looks the weather is getting better for a while.
DeleteSo nice to have those pictures of our ancestors from long ago!
I chuckled while watching the video....and totally concur with the sentiments expressed about SNOW!
