Where are we today ?
Well here it is again a wonderful sunny pretty warm day up to 55 f. Was 20 f overnight but not windy, good for sleeping. After morning coffees and computing the sun rose to a clear blue sky and things warmed up real quick.
My first morning walkabout by the river enjoyed the shadows and the birds in the trees.
But then I followed my nose over to this wonderful aroma of a turkey being smoked by one of the cabins. Awe, there it is, the smoker fired up and the cook Kyle camped out for the night (in a cabin) with his family tending to this wonderful smoked bird.

smells so good and almost done |
Then a bit later a walkabout down along the river trail, so peaceful and quite. Even spotted a couple deer running along the ridge on the other side of the river.

nice trails |
Today here in the resort is our Thanksgiving get together (a day early) from noon until 3 pm. The resort here supplied the smoked turkey, two deep fried turkeys, a huge ham, gravies, coffee, tea, plates and utensils. The rest of us brought pot luck dishes. From salads, potatoes, vegetables, cornbread stuffing, baked beans, and casseroles etc..., not to mention all of the tasty deserts. Our contribution was 4 dozen
"King's Hawaiian Sweet rolls" they are oh so good.
We had two Canadian Thanksgiving get togethers with family back in October. And then we can do it once again while we tour the Southern states in the winter, aren't we lucky!

lots of great food |

I had a few samples it was awesome and I did not have to cook. |
Now I am not a desert eater, but this homemade one looked quite interesting so had to give it a little try (as if I needed more food). Not sure what it was but very light and had mainly blueberries and pineapple with a light topping, no crust, a very interesting taste combination.
|
a pretty good turnout today |
We sat at the end, met a few other couples and chatted getting acquainted sharing rv stories for a couple of hours while enjoying this great Thanksgiving meal. There was more than enough food and over 60 people there to enjoy it too. Most of the people here in the campground, pretty good turn out for off season camping.

tasty deserts |
Glad we walked to and from the hall a good 5 minutes each way, needed to walk off a bit of lunch on the way home. Then a few other walkabouts this afternoon too, between chapters of our books.
We got back home shortly after 2 pm and were able to spend a couple of hours enjoying our books outside on a beautiful warm sunny afternoon with no wind. Chatted with a few people as they strolled by and watched the wagon ride pass us by a few times, taking people around the resort.

Now as the sun begins to set the air cools down so time to migrate inside. Read and compute a bit more (no supper tonight again). The awesome Thanksgiving lunch was more than enough for today.
Thanks for stopping on by today and we would like to wish all of our American friends a very Happy Thanksgiving.

We stayed way below the freezing mark here again today. Can you send some of that warm air up here.
ReplyDeleteKathy feels the same way. She loves to cook but every once in a while it is nice to let somebody else do the cooking. Normally with those Pot Luck Dinners nobody goes away hungry. If they do it's their own fault. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Lotsa good food that was for sure, you have to come south for the warm weather Rick.
DeleteThat looks like a great group of people. Your plate looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteWe love Sweet rolls. When we go for long hikes, it is our roll of choice for lunch.
We all had a great time at the hall.
DeleteAppreciate the Thanksgiving good wishes, glad you're here in the states to enjoy it with us! :c)
ReplyDeleteWe are glad too!
DeleteYour thanksgiving dinner looks wonderful? We are having our here at Colorado River thousand trails tomorrow. Hope it as good as yours.
ReplyDeleteMost pot lucks are pretty good always lots to eat. Enjoy.
DeleteAlways a great time of year to do all of that. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThat was some feast!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful campground....
We love it here, a great place to spend some time in a small town.
DeleteWhoooHoooo... what a potluck dinner that was! I just caught up on posts after being on the road last week... we're also in Glen Rose... at a very cold 26 degrees this morning. Don't know where Tres Rios is, but it looks like a good place to stay. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you as well, just 3 miles from historic downtown, where are you guys?
DeleteI'm beginning to get the definite impression that that Resort is pretty damned nice. I think we only experienced that feeling once in the whole time we had our RV. Down in Pennsylvania somewhere. Off the beaten track. There was only the sound of the wind in the trees.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking pot-luck. It's a bonus when you don't have to cook.
We enjoy a lots of nice Resorts, and this is one of many we enjoy, pretty quiet at this time of year.
DeleteWe don'y usually do pot lucks, but special occasions is always nice.
What a feast and how nice that it was the day before so the staff can spend time with their families on the day. Happy Thanksgiving yet again.
ReplyDeleteIt works out pretty good all the way around.
DeleteIsn't it great to have an excuse to pig out and enjoy two Thanksgiving dinners? We also celebrated the Canadian Thanksgiving with our Canadian friends and now we'll celebrate the American Thanksgiving with our family. It's the best of all worlds.
ReplyDeleteIt is the best of both worlds, we love it!
DeleteThat is certainly one big feast you had there today... great to enjoy Thanksgiving again! That is a neat looking smoker they have at the park. Bet it does a good job. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThe smoker worker just wonderful. And great feast it was.
DeleteThanks for the Thanksgiving well wishes, glad you guys are here to celebrate and from the looks of your pictures, celebrate you did!
ReplyDeleteThat we did and ate too much. But that's what we're supposed to do right?
DeleteGreat looking dinner - it's nice to be able to celebrate 2 Thanksgivings in one year, I like the sounds of that.
ReplyDeleteThat one advantage of living this lifestyle, too much food and fun.
DeleteNow I can hardly wait for the next four hours to pass for our Thanksgiving feast up at the clubhouse. And I don't have to cook either so it will be wonderful. Have a wonderful - WARM - day and thanks for the wishes.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your feast and get together at the clubhouse, you have a warm day too.
DeleteHmmmm.....that meal looked so good....and the dessert even better. I do like dessert!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving.
