A cool drizzly day and a day trip.

Where are we today ?
Last night we had heavy rains as was forecasted. And we really love the sound of the rain on our roof, kinda  southing and lulls you to sleep.
This morning just cold and drizzly and it lasted pretty well all day long. I had plans to get some more stuff done around our house, but it was too cold, (58f =14c) is not great for doing outside stuff. Especially when the next few days will be warming up.
So after lunch I decided to drive Suzie to Stratford so she could be with her Mom and Dad for the check up at the Stratford Hospital.  A little over an hours drive and we saved the $5.00 parking fee as I just dropped her off and found a nice quiet spot to park and read until she sent me a text "Come and get Me".
Got things done that we needed to do
By the time we left Stratford and back home it was still overcast and drizzly, but we managed to read for a bit outside. Then fired up our Weber Q. Gonna grill a Basa Fillet, some fresh asparagus we picked up and a Jalapeño pepper stuffed with cream cheese added to a tasty salad.
tasty it was
That was it for our day, not too exciting but kept us busy doing things that needed to be done.
Hope you had a good day too, and thanks once again for stopping on by.

Preventative maintenance sure pays off.

Where are we today ?
Another wonderful warm, sunny day and still inspired to get a few more outdoor items taken care of. Today's maintenance  project is to remove our Trojan house batteries. Wash then down, clean up the wires and terminals then top up with distilled water. I do this at least twice a year. The batteries are still in good shape only about 1 cup of water in each. They were replaced about three years ago. Original house batteries lasted over 7 years.
all cleaned up
reinstalled and back to work
After a few walkabouts and reading for a while in the shade, Rob, Pat and Lady Girl dropped by for a social hour.
Lady Girl looking for a treat,
Suzie gets her doggie fix too
Such a beautiful sunny day with no clouds in the sky. Hard to believe it is almost the end of September.
For supper tonight I am grilling a pork tenderloin, rubbed with a bit of Olive oil and a low sodium rub that we like. Directly on the grill after preheating and turned on low, potatoes have been going about 30 minutes. This pork takes about 15-20 minutes turn half way through until the internal temperature is 145 f. Done to perfection, so moist and tender.
all done
The recipe for the sweet potatoes with apples and cinnamon is on my recipe Blog click here. The only variation I made was to use Extra Virgin Olive oil instead of butter, still is very tasty.
so very tasty
Added a small red leaf lettuce salad and really hit the spot.
A walkabout after supper and read for a short while then in the house, to finish my posting.
Suzie loves these loafs that we occasionally pick up at the Pinery Market. So need to sample a tiny bite.
very tasty, like a loaf, not too sweet
Another day passed us by and getting much sooner before we migrate south.
         Thanks again for stopping by.

Pinery Fleamarket and a nice drive on a wonderful warm sunny Sunday.

Where are we today ?
A great night sleeping windows open and perfect temperature, not humid. Up early 6 am. as usual and we find the power is out. No power in the campground. No problem for us, we are self contained, just flicked on the inverter turn on the tv and power up the computer. Got our coffee perk out and made a pot of coffee. Gotta have our morning coffees!
Morning walkabouts and most people outside too, not sure what to do with no electricity. Hmm would think we were in the city and not a campground. Chatted with a few people around and found out that this was a planned power outage, while they begin connecting these hug wind turbines to the power grid. Apparently a few more planed in the near future.
Shortly after 9 am we headed out to our favorite Sunday outing when in the area here, The Pinery Fleamarket In Grand Bend with our friends Rob and Pat along for the ride.
Fall is in the air with pumpkins and squash in season, so they are on sale and on display everywhere.
Then all the fresh baked goods here look so tempting. But we can resist most, except Suzie cannot resist the Cranberry Orange Loaf (like a Banana Bread).
very tasty loafs here
huge tarts as well
tasty looking cookies and biscuits
With perfect weather for a fall day the market was busy, we enjoyed wandering about looking for tasty treats. A few items purchased then off to Hayter's Turkey in Dashwood Ontario. Picked up a few Turkey products like sausage, burgers, ground turkey, etc. We will be good for a while now.
On our way home we stopped at Juicy Fruit Orchards. In season now is apples, peppers and squash. So a couple pepper squash, a couple spaghetti squash and a couple Jalapeño peppers all for $4.50 great deals.
Back home in time for a light lunch, said goodbye to Pat and Bill (they are still working), walkabouts, work out at the gym, read for a bit and a nice social hour with Rob and Pat.
Before we know it time then to fire up our Weber Q. Grill a couple onion and parsley Turkey burgers, 1/2 a pepper squash and two cobs of fresh corn.
really love these burgers
sure did the trick today
Supper done another walkabout, chat with a few more neighbors, enjoy our e readers outside until about 8 o'clock, then inside to call it a night.
Still enjoying this amazingly warm fall weather, hope you did too. Looks like it will be around for a while longer yet.
Thanks again for stopping on by.

A hot fall Saturday, almost warmer than our summer.

Where are we today ?
Just more amazing weather again today, sure can't beat this for the end of September. A few morning walkabouts, viewing the fall colors here and there as some of the leaves are beginning to change color, making for wonderful scenery.
As the temperatures warmed up I got in the mood to make use of this wonderful weather. Today's project was to Wax our car, this I do once a year. Its a 2006 Saturn that we tow behind our coach. 180,000 kms (111,000 miles) on the odometer, and about 300,000 kms (186,000miles) when you add in the towed mileage. It still looks good and runs very well, and has never been driven on the salty winter roads in Canada.
our towed still looking good
This was the temps we had to deal with today, not a problem at all for us and not a cloud in the sky.
More walkabouts, chat with a few neighbors, a nice 40 minute work out in the gym, and enjoy reading in the shade for a while. Then shortly after 3:30 we had a few friends drop by for "Happy Hour" with two dogs, Clemson and Lady Girl. Some had met before but we knew everyone. These are fun get togethers, chat with new people and make new friends, solve all the problems of the world , compared or rviing stories and make more contacts with the rv community.
Suzie getting her doggie fix with Lady Girl
we had a fun time here in the shade on a perfect fall day
Then every body went their own way (supper time ya know) I fired up our Weber Q, grilled a huge smoked pork chop, some cauliflower and onions in foil and a fresh Jalapeño pepper I stuffed with cream cheese.
our Q hard at work
We shared the pork chop and enjoyed a tasty salad with it too
Supper done, a short walkabout and watched Rob playing with his Quadcopter showing the kids how it worked. Such a cool toy, it even has a camera that can take pictures while flying over head.
Quadcopter
pretty cool (expensive) toy
That was another great day outside, then we enjoyed our e readers outside until 8:30. Love the fact that they have built in lighting. Now its time to head inside, relax, post this blog and watch the tube for a few minutes before I fall asleep.
Would like to thank y'all for stopping in again today and really hope you had an amazing Saturday as well.

Waxing done, and nice to see our friends camping here again.

Where are we today ?
Another wonderful warm sunny day and we loving this weather. After washing our coach yesterday today is a perfect day to wax it. My back is doing great lately so lets go for it. Warm enough by 10 am to begin and got the passenger side done before noon while it was in the shade. Gotta love this Meguiar's  wax. easy on easy off. Apply to the whole side of the coach and with my 6 inch orbital polisher was buffered off in no time.
Then a quick stop for lunch and back at it. Got the back and drivers side done in no time, Suzie got to enjoy her e reader while she had me slaving away. Then inspected to job and pointed out a couple spots I missed, Gotta be done right!
Quality control inspector.
I must say it ended up looking pretty good, for a 15 year old coach.
Our friends Rob and Pat dropped in for a social hour after they got set up. And so nice to see Lady Girl looking so spry after she had a rough time of it earlier this summer.
Lady Girl the dog with the attitude
She even has to have her own chair
Suzie got her doggie fix too
Then as usual, soon time to fire up our Weber Q, grill a tasty Basa fillet with fresh lemon and Old Bay Spice.
Added a tasty salad and we are good to go.
After supper, a walkabout and relax with our e books. Then Pat and Bill dropped by with Clemson for a visit, have not seen them since earlier this summer. We then fired up our propane fire pit to take the chill off, just chatted and got caught up. Think we could have talked all night, but it was getting late and quite cool, after 9 o'clock so time to call it a night they will be her until Sunday anyway. See you guys tomorrow.
Thank again for your visit, and hope you enjoyed this summer like weather as much as we did !

Sunshine, warm and taking advantage of this great weather

Where are we today ?
Today another wonderful warm, almost summer day, really gotta love this Indian summer we are having. Temps in the high 70s (25C) is perfect. So with this great weather next chore on the list is to give our coach a good wash. It been a while. Shortly after 8 am I got a under way, want to get things done before it gets to hot.
As usual gave the roof a good cleaning and proceeded to get the rest done, just about 3 hours but is a great way to get things done, some exercise and give our coach a good inspection.
Then a light lunch and puttered around a bit , repair our water hose again ( it keeps getting shorter).
still looks pretty good after a good wash
Couple walkabouts and we can enjoy reading in the shade for a while, perfect day for it too. It's really been a while since we have bean able to do this.
the campground is very quiet, just the way we like it
Now for today's supper I am going to celebrate (just because we can) with a couple 4 oz top sirloin steaks that I marinated all day. Added to some cauliflower in foil, fresh mushrooms and onions and a garlic bun with cheese.
So nice to relax by our Weber Q enjoying our books while the grill does an amazing job.
added yellow tomato slices and salsa on my potato
A very satisfying meal that we enjoyed, its been a while since we had beef. After supper a bit more reading outside, and a few people stopped by for a couple minutes and a quick chat. Their dogs Tucker and Choco running around playing.
We stayed outside until 8 pm, pretty dark but starting to cool down so reluctantly we headed inside for the night. Tomorrow is supposed to be another excellent day. Think waxing our coach could be on the agenda, gotta take advantage of this great weather while we can.

Getting things done here with perfect weather.

Where are we today ?
What the heck, we are having amazing weather for the next few days and we have stuff to do. Main thing on our agenda today was to rent a steam cleaner from the local store. So I was there at 8:30 am when they opened, picked up the machine and we proceeded to prep our house for a good cleaning.
the wind turbines not far from the clubhouse
I steam cleaned, the dinette cushions, lazy boy recliner, couch, carpets in the front room and the bedroom carpet. While I was inside doing this Suzie set up office outside, reading, computing , whatever,  out of my way and here to help when I needed it too. Only a couple hours doing this and its really amazing all the dirt that comes out ! We have been doing this every fall since 2006 and still ceases to amaze me how dirty everything can get.
dinette cushions looking good
Washed our blankets and throw covers, even the blanket we bought in Mexico 2009 washes up nice too.
our Mexican Blanket
couch looks like new, even though it is outdated 15 years old
Now these things done, I ran to Forest to pick up a few supplies (seniors day at Foodland) then back home to relax for a bit. A quick work out at the awesome gym here and when I returned home we had company. Our friends Ron and Loree had dropped by for a social hour, so nice to see them again, its been a while.
We chatted, solved the worlds problem, discussed our winter travel plans then they headed home. We put our coach back together, everything was dry by now and enjoyed reading for a bit before firing our our Weber Q for supper.
A perfect sunny  day
A couple Salmon fillets on the Q. And added to another tasty salad, filled our tummies, we are good to go for another day.
yep was tasty
Supper done, a short walkabout and enjoy some outside reading still a nice warm evening. Had a few people drop by to chat that we have not seen for a while. Then eventually around 8 pm cooling down and time to head inside. Gotta love this wonderful warm fall weather and sunny days. Looks like it will be like this into next week.
Thanks again for the peak, hope you had a great day too!
