Moving to Grove Oklahoma, run into more Rv'ing friends and saving lotsa money, what a life!

Where are we today ?
We are up early as usual, coffees, computing, walkabouts and we are all secured then hit the road at 8:40 am after saying good bye (see ya later) to our friends Rob and Pat. Mostly an overcast drizzly day until about noon. Good travel day stopping at most the rest areas to get out and stretch. Sure helps our backs. Total today was 281 miles .
281 miles today
We stopped at the Flying J in Joplin Missouri to fuel up and love the GAS prices $2.69.9 a gallon, but with our Flying J Card $2.67.9 a gallon (that equals .70.9 cents a litre, back home in Canada ! $1.20.5 cents a litre). $4.55 a US gallon in Canada.  We fuelled with 45 US gallons a savings of $84.60 US dollars on todays fillup alone. Now we bought 24 cans of beer for $12.97 compared to $42.00 and a 1/2 gallon of Whiskey for $12.97 compared to about $54.00 back home and another week of membership camping with full hook ups and no overnight fees. We feel like we have won the lottery!!! Like Larry says we saved all this money but where is it?
a nice driving day
We arrived at Bear's Den resort in Grove Oklahoma about 2:30 pm.
Campsites are first come  first served, so we found a nice pull thru site, all cement and a nice cement patio. Not many empty sites here. Guess what? If we did not pick a site beside out friends from Ontario, Emile and Monique, Galvin bay Resort in Buckhorn. Did not know they were here so was a nice surprise.
It was cool but sunny, so once set up (half hour or so) we got together for a nice "Happy Hour" chat and catch up for a bit, then soon time for supper.
its a chilly day but we can handle it,
the sun just came out!
a nice large site
Supper tonight we decided on something quick and easy. (no Weber Q tonight).Try a couple sausage we picked up the other day, from the Swiss Meat and Sausage company. Try out these Bacon and Cheddar Potato Bratwurst, with sauerkraut, boiled potatoes and carrots. Wow are these sausage ever good! Sure glad we stocked up while we were there!
awesome tasty supper
Another great travel day, just movin on down the road. Think we will relax here for a week and check out a few things we have not seen in this area for a while. Why? because we can and like to make use of our (almost) free camping. We are not in hurry to go anywhere, just enjoying the sights. A bit cool but no snow yet and we have a very nice warm house.
Thanks for stopping in and glad you could come along for the trip

  6. Howdy George,
That does look like a nice place and to find your buddies there too, also.. That has to be the 'smallest' concrete patio I've seen in a RESORT !!! The coats sure make it look 'cooool', but 'happy-hour' is happy, no matter the weather... Is this an Indian owned operation?? I don't think the Cherokees have 'casinos', yet.. They're the 'Civilized Nation !!! Keep on comin' Southwest, across Okla homa,(YES THERE'S A GAP) I'll email it to you.... Don't hang around up there toooo long, OLD MAN WINTER is right behind you !!! BRATWURST RULES !!!! Any day with a BRAT is a HAPPY DAY !!!!!

    1. We have places with no concrete patios so this is a bonus.
Bears Den is Part of Ocean Canyons Resort properties, one of our Resorts of Distinction membership parks.
The Cherokees have three Casinos in Okla homa. Yep I know about the gap. We slowly making our way south west, hopefully just ahead of that white stuff.

    1. Alcohol and fuel are very expensive there, thats another reason why we enjoy travelling in the USA. Just a bit at a time for six months.
