Where are we today ?

More warm and sunny weather today getting ramped up for the long weekend. Friday July 1st is Canada Day in Canada (of course) and Monday the 4th of July in the States. So traffic everywhere this weekend will be "insane" on the road (glad we are not travelling) and parties both sides of the border, with amazing weather in the forcecast.
And of course a Happy 4th of July to all our American friends.
First thing this morning to beat the crowds and traffic I headed into Lakefield (just down the road) to check out the Thursday Farmer's market.
Picked up some fresh picked strawberries here and a few groceries and back home just after 10 am. The girl at Mcleans Berry farm told me she picks berries from 2 am till sunrise, then to market, closes at 2 pm. She has a nap then picks more berries. Busy people, "make hay while the sunshines"
The the market  has some free Canada day treats. How about some fresh strawberries dipped in white chocolate, got 2 one for me and one for Suzie.
Or free Canada Day cupcakes too..
Cruised around town for a bit down by the river. Lakefield is a very pretty town. People fishing by the river, and boats out cruising around, so peaceful.
nice houseboat just heading out

Home by 10 am and we went through stuff that we can part with. In the  campground tomorrow community yard sale, so we will set stuff out, could be a treasure for somebody, we have a few things that need to go.
Nice light lunch, read in the shade and a couple more walkabouts, the campers are coming in all day, apparently they will be full this weekend (no surprize).

Our friend Pat got back from the farm today and brought me some fresh early garlic from her garden. And it is so good! Love it! Thanks Pat.!

We were invited to Happy Hour at Gary and Willies' for 4 o'clock. We are not one to miss a Happy hour, ya know. Today is Gary's Birthday so let's celebrate ! A double reason not to miss it.

We had a fun Happy hour celebrating Gary's birthday but time for us to head home, whip up supper. I know other's stayed longer.
I had marinated a Pork tenderloin to grill on our Weber Q, and it was calling our names. Along with that I grilled a sweet potato to add to our green salad. For the pork tenderloin recipe click HERE or my recipe blog , top right sidebar.

Where are we today ?

Just another sunny day here in Cottage country at Galvin Bay resort.  No wind, temps in the mid 70's F just great. Nice quiet early morning walkabout was so peaceful. Home before 8 am. Then chat with a few people and looked for things that needed to be done.
First was to change our water filter cartridge, think it was due,was looking kinda like it was ready. Has been over a year
old filter on the left, you can tell what it should look like
on the right
Next was to clean and lube our Roadmaster tow bar. I like to do that once a month or more. Pays off, it has given us 10 years of good service so far.
use the Vroom Road master cleaner
then the Roadmaster Silicone lube,
works like new still
One of my walkabouts a fellow stopped to say hello, Says hey! you are George the Awesome Travel guy. I have been following you for a long time, so nice to finally meet you. Such a small world, just never know who is reading our Blog. But then over 1,000 page views a day, you never know.
Even found time to enjoy reading our e-readers outside in the shade. Gotta love the lifestyle.
About 4 pm good friends Emile and Monique stopped in for "HappyHour" Have not seen them since Rock Glen resort a few weeks ago. Just catching up with each other's travels is always fun.
Soon time to fire up our Weber Q and grill a couple Chicken, Mozzarella and red pepper smoked sausage on our Q. Added to a tasty green salad. Sure did the trick tonight, quick and easy.
yummy
Last Saturday after the Peterborough farmer's Market we stopped by the Hydraulic lift lock in town and was pretty quiet then. Should have been here Sunday to see this amazing record break event below.
On Sunday at 1Pm there was an event Lock'N Paddle that link is HERE  for another one click Here for the link.
lining up for the lock,
they got 138 in there !
all crammed in, wish we knew in advance
would to have loved to be there,
and awesome sight to see
Now just relaxing outside enjoying the cooling temps, but still warm enough for shorts, at 8:30. posting the blog and read for a while longer until soon time to call it a day.
Thanks for stopping by. This weekend  is a long one here in Canada (Canada Day Long weekend) the crowds will be arriving tomorrow and the campground will be full. We don't mind it is part of our lifestyle, they will be mostly gone come sunday. Then peaceful once again.

Where are we today ?

A bit cooler this morning but still a wonderful early morning walkabout. We have a plan today . It is my Mom's Birthday she is 89 years young. And we gonna visit her at the long term facility in Lindsay about 45 minutes away, along with my Brother Chris (wife Sheri), Sister Louise (husband Paul). They now live close by and can visit her more often, Chris Baked a chocolate cake, and Louise brought some Gluten free cupcakes and nice decorations, to Celebrate her birthday ,all of us together. Ma likes that.
We all arrived shortly after 10 am, set up a nice small room and brought her in to celebrate. The cards, gifts, cake and Happy Birthday songs, the staff here sang Mom Happy birthday at Breakfast too, a very nice facility.

she blew out all the candles
Nice new sweater for her
more smiley faces
That's us the whole  bunch
Then we outside for a while, some fresh air and chat with a few people out there as well. Met a retired Gray Coach Bus Driver he is 92, and we probably met way back in the 60's and 70's when I worked there, small world. Of course we are all much older and hard to remember that far back.
What a very nice visit with Ma and my siblings on her birthday for a few hours. But was 12:30 time for her to head in for lunch. So we said our goodbyes and headed on home.
Back here about 2 pm, light bite to eat and checked out the slow cooker. The Wild Turkey breast is smelling wonderful and just slowing making all those flavors blend together.
Chillier today than the last few only about 70f  and had a few rain drops here while we were gone. A walkabout the park and read for a while then time to assemble supper. Just boiled a couple taters and steamed some fresh broccoli to add to the tasty Turkey, carrots and gravy. For the Wild Turkey in the slow cooker click HERE or my recipe blog on the top right sidebar.
sure was tasty
The Turkey was awesome and of course we have leftovers that will be enjoyed sometime soon, or frozen, maybe lunches...
A cooler day but good for a day trip to visit Ma on her birthday.
          Thanks for stopping by.
