We had pretty good weather compared to a lot of people.

Where are we today ?
Well looks like we did not get the bad weather that was forecast for here, actually had a great day! Compared to our friends Rob and Pat camped in Albuquerque New Mexico, they got a foot of snow last night. Below they sent a few pictures of what they woke up to this morning.

ploughing the roads in their campground
Now a good friend of ours in Ontario, Gary sent us some pictures of the two feet of snow they got overnight in London Ontario, only an hour from where we stay in the summer.
this picture taken this morning
another reason why we head south
It was nice enough for a few walkabouts the campground here today. Just overcast and chilly, no wind. Even noticed this tiny camper that was here for the weekend. Sure is a cute trailer but a little too small I think for this kind of weather.
lots of nice cabins by the river too
Oh we did have about 5 minutes of sleet about 10 am but gone right away.
sleet on our picnic table
Now I had noticed this restaurant in town and it looked interesting, so stopped by and checked out the menu. We do love Cajun food and we love catfish, just so happens they are open today from  noon until 5 pm "all you can eat catfish" served with fries, hushpuppies, salad for only $10.99. We will not be in the south this year and thought it would be a great time to check them out.
Well it was excellent service, fresh hot food, light breading on the fish made to order, and they kept wanting to bring more until we had to tell them to stop, certainly a very worth while meal. Went here at noon so no need to eat supper tonight.
Apparently he makes all the homemade pies here and they look great too. Noticed a few people came in just for pie and coffee.
they just opened Mother's day this year, she is from
Southern Louisiana
and her husband from this area.
had to have some more fish, but did not finish all the fries
We might just have to go back again for their delicious looking Gumbo or frog legs before we leave here.
still a wonderful afternoon weather wise
Now back home from a tasty lunch and its a cool sunday so we were able to do something we don't often do. Sunday afternoon movies on TV. And we actually watched two fun movies all the way thru and enjoyed them both.
That was it for a really interesting and laid back sunday for us, hope yours was good too.
       Thanks for stopping on by.

  1. Sure glad I had my heat on when I was looking at those snow pictures. We had homemade soup for dinner tonight which sure was good.

  3. OK, the London pictures I "get", but Albuquerque? Holy crap on a cracker! They don't even have snow shovels! Salt? Nothing. Sure hope it warms up for them.
Not a lick of snow here. Just missed us completely. It *tried* to snow Saturday, but was only the result of passing clouds. They passed.
I'm still hoping to not have to cut the grass again though.

    1. You are so close to London yet far enough away, mind you I would rather cut grass than shovel snow. Keep warm.

    1. Yep glad we are not home right?
You have nicer weather there than we do.

  5. But ... you are in the south! Catfish was not a fish of choice in the Pacific NW where I grew up. However, on our semi-annual trips to Texas to visit his family, my father had to have catfish. I never tried until we moved to Texas many years later. Now I love it and have to have my fill of catfish before I head back to the Pacific and their salmon, halibuts and cods. Love that fish!

You sure did luck out with the weather and I'm glad for that. Traveling in an RV makes us an avid weather watcher. Take care.

    1. We both love most fish and never had catfish until our first trip to Nashville years ago. Got hooked on it.
Also nothing quite like the fresh fish in the Pacific NW either, its been a long time since we have been there.
We do watch our weather closely and try to avoid the nasty stuff especially when on the road.

  6. I've never had catfish - can't get past the look of the ugly things.

For a minute, I thought all those snow pictures were of your campgrounds!

    1. Catfish is very tasty. A pig and a cow look pretty ugly too but we eat that.
We got pretty lucky with no snow here.

  7. Glad the snow passed around you. That restaurant looks like it would be worth a second visit.

    1. We don't mind a bit of cold but don't want any of that white stuff.
It has some very good menu items we don't see in a lot of places.

  8. Oh yes, southern cooking! My mouth is watering! We found one of those all-you-can-eat catfish places once in Louisiana abd the had pecan pie as well. We almost spent the winter in their parking lot!

    1. Yes we too love the southern cooking, but do get our fill and move on to other places, which is so much fun too.
