Where are we today ?

Just below freezing last night, so not too bad at all got up to 42F today, but mostly overcast with a NW wind 15 mph, but when the sun was shining it was wonderful out there. This morning I whipped a blueberry muffin mix and baked a 1/2 dozen small loaves for some light snacks when Suzie is in the mood. We usually split 1/2 of a tiny loaf, just enough to take care of the craving. The rest will go in the freezer to be consumed at a later date.
Then the usual, after lunch Suzie headed off to the Stratford Hospital to visit her Dad and I went to the Wilmot Centre in Baden for the walking track. Ran into an old friend I have not seen for many years, Tom was a charter member with the Plattsville-Bright Optimist club from way back in 1985, I have not seen him like forever. Small world it is ! We walked and chatted for over an hour catching up, more than 3 miles done today. Then back home to Plattsville, putter around and read for a bit, Suzie home, we catch up. Then fire up our Weber Q, grill a turkey burger for her and a homemade chorizo burger ( love this chorizo!) for me to add to our salad. It is so nice to be able to use our Weber Q again !
While grilling the burgers, the lot next door had what seems like a thousand birds in the lawn and in the trees making one heck of a noise. Yep spring is in the air !
I pointed the camera and the birds flew the coop! |
works for me |
so tasty and just enough spice, almost, I added a bit more, some jalapeno peppers. |
Thanks for stopping by for a peek !

Isn't it fun running into old friends? Bill & I will be in SE Ohio until September and there's a good chance we'll run into folks we haven't seen in at least 15 years.... probably longer. Did you look at your old friend and wonder about how he'd aged? Then begin to wonder how YOU had aged? Just wondering because that's kinda what I always feel.... I think the same, but know I darned well don't look the same.... and them? well, truth is, most of my friends have aged a lot. What does that say about me?
ReplyDeleteIt was great to see him again.
DeleteWe have all aged a lot, but he recognized me. I did not recognize him until we began to talk.
We only change on the outside, still feel young inside. amazing how that works.
Saw a woman it the arena last weekend have not seen for at least 15 years, hardly knew who she was, yet she recognized me. And I know I have changed.
Love the mini loaf idea. Hopefully the temps will start creeping up.
ReplyDeleteThe mini loaves work wonderful, this weekend will be almost perfect weather.
DeleteSince getting home to cold weather, do you find yourself looking at your Quartzite header shot with fond, and warm, memories?
ReplyDeleteYes we sure do, love it there!
DeleteNot much enjoying this cold, but warming up real soon !
I make my zucchini bread the same way. That way we don't over eat.
ReplyDeleteBirds singing...one my all time favorite sounds.
I like the photo of the cars....without the snow...lol
That's what nice about the small loaves, portion control.
DeleteThe birds are a sure sign of warm weather.
No snow on the cars is wonderful.
