Where are we today ?
Clic on a pic to enlarge
Not too cold last night, but much cooler this morning , had a nice sunrise though. Nice early morning walkabout no wind (bonus) and the sunrise was warming things up nicely.
|
snowy car, but all else is good |
|
nice sunrise |
Secured our coach then and on the road by 8 am, stopped at the Flying J up the road topped up our propane and just headed north on I-75 very little traffic. Construction zones everywhere but no problems and the easiest part was to bypass the border crossing in Detroit (very long lineup) took I-75 to I-96 to I-94 to towards Port Huron.
|
construction zones not too bad |
|
Detroit bypass so easy now, love it! |
|
I-94 north to Port Huron |
Stopped at Marysville MI, to top up our gas tank then a few miles down the road to the border crossing. And no lineup! Nobody in line, love this crossing. No time to even take a picture.
Easy and quick crossing. How long you in the USA? Any Alcohol or cigarettes? Have a good day! Gotta love it. Coulda kept our chicken, but no problem it will not go to waste. We are enjoying it still.
|
here we are blurry but we here |
Now the back road back to Plattsville where we will hang out for a while at our friends place that we call "Camp Awesome" just cause it is. Almost dry camping , very little electric (200 foot tiny extension cord) and no water or sewer but it is awesome here!
|
love Ontario's back roads |
the closer we got the more snow we saw
Arrived in Plattsville about 3:30 pm. Disconnect the car in the arena parking lot and check out camp awesome. Looks like we can pull in there no problem.

Plattsville Main Street |
|
heading to our spot |
|
this is it we are and all set up for a bit |
|
soon (we hope) the snow will be gone |
So now we here and sunshine this afternoon, a bonus as well. Relax a bit then whip up supper. Leftover chicken tonight. My easy version of Chicken Cacciatore with rice for the recipe click here or my recipe blog on the top right side bar.
|
tasty ? Yep |
|
Then a sunset for us, but getting cooler time to call it a night |
We had a good day and hope you did too. Had to get back to Ontario today as our out of province insurance was due for renewal tomorrow. And to save a few hundred dollars, we will deal with this weather and visit family etc....
Thanks again for stopping by and hope you had a wonderful day too !

the final leg 315 miles |
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Fall and Winter..
Glad to see you made it back Safe and Sound.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to saving serious cash you do what you have to do.
Still a few more cold days and nights heading our way before it gets back to seasonal.
Enjoy!
It's about time.
Seasonal temps would be nice, they will be back some day.
DeleteNow wer will get ready to head south again.
I really like the Blue Water Bridge to Canada over the Detroit/Windsor to Canada option. Even when we are not in the RV!
ReplyDeleteThe Blue water bridge has always been my favorite.
DeleteGlad to read you made it back into Ontario safe and sound. Bundle up and stay warm.
ReplyDeleteWe will do what we can to keep warm.
DeleteCrikey ...... look at those empty roads. Mum always thought the USA would be bumper to bumper cars and trucks ALL the time. That all looks so peaceful. I know you like the warm weather but that snow looks pretty nice to me. Just like icecream!!
ReplyDeleteThere is traffic in the large cities, thats another reason we choose to live and travel in the country.
DeleteThe snow does looks nice, but we don't much care for the cold anymore.
Welcome home, too bad the weather sucks, we are in for a stretch of warm weather, hope you get some soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it could always be worse.
DeleteShould start warming up in another week or so
Welcome back to Ontario folks & we like that Blue Water bridge crossing at Port Huron as well. Know what you mean by loving Ontario's back roads & how lucky we are to have so many of them. Do you suppose if everybody in Ontario right now fired up their Weber Q's at the same time it just might drive this cold winter air right the heck out of here..........:))
ReplyDeleteThanks Al, It is a much nicer relaxed border crossing, less traffic and the back roads are here for us to enjoy.
DeleteIt is nice to slow down and enjoy the scenery rather than watching all those other cars, fly by.
I like your Idea firing up the Weber Q's not going to get ours out for a few days yet, when its less windy.
Welcome back! Glad all your driving was fine. And hope this snow goes soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fury we hope it warms up enough to melt the snow too.
DeleteIt's hard to imagine snow when the temperature is pushing 100 in Phoenix! Glad you're long trip is over. Now you'll settle in for the summer and head back in the fall. What a great life for sure! I love seeing the empty highways. Those are the ones I like.
ReplyDeleteSure would like some of that 100 degrees here, was hoping we could have brought some back with us.
DeleteNot sure what we will do this summer or where we will explore, just enjoying Ontario is wonderful.
We sure do have an amazing lifestyle. Empty highways are our favorites too.
Good to see you back home after a safe trip. Yes a few more cold days and nights then on the up swing. Looking forward to meeting up soon and catching up. Till then, take care.
ReplyDeleteIt will warm up in about a week , and hope to catch up with you guys again soon.
DeleteThere's something about being "home" that feels good no matter what the weather. The problem I have is that the closer I get to home the quicker I want to get there ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am never in a big hurry to go anywhere, especially when it is much colder weather here. Would have been nice to stay in Ohio for another week or so. With all those facilities.
DeleteGlad you made it home safe and sound! Wanted to let you know we made your chicken pot pie and loved it! Now tonight your tuna melts! Yum...Hope the weather warms soon for you all!!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, glad you enjoyed the pot pie, a nice easy, tasty meal.
DeleteHappy to see you made the trip with out any major incidents and are now snuggled in to Camp Awesome! Enjoy! The snow will go away, that we know for sure! Great visiting this season!
ReplyDeleteThanks we are snuggled in and can't wait for it to warm up.
DeleteWas wonderful visiting with you guys too.
Glad you made it home. Enjoy your time with family and friends.
ReplyDeleteThanks, we will enjoy it more once it warms up.
DeleteHome sweet home, glad you made it safely
ReplyDeleteThanks Larry.
DeleteWelcome home! Hope it warms up soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, next week it will get better.
DeleteGlad you made it back Safely. There is a high wind warning in western OH this morning with travel warnings for tractor trailers and vans. I'm glad we don't go back to Ontario until Monday. We have travel health insurance until Wednesday so we can stay an extra day if have to.
ReplyDeleteWe4 tooks the opportunity yesterday with a good travel day.
DeleteDon't rush should be warming up by next week.
