Where are we today ?

Yep its cold -6c (21f) at 7am, but at least pretty sunny most of the day. It did get up to -2C (28F) but felt much colder with NW wind. But with the sun shining and a few layers of clothes did get out for a walkabout by the river and the yard here, 5 acres of lawn just waiting to be mowed in the warmer weather.

way back there we are |
Wandered up to the Arena and a hockey tournament going on. Preva Cup, I believe it is volunteer firefighters from around the area compete and of course there is food, adult beverages, entertainment and dancing as well in the hall upstairs. Did see a woman that I know Bonnie, her husband Pete was playing. Met the them when they moved to town 1994 at my restaurant and camped with them couple of times, years ago. Nice to chat again.
After a light lunch Suzie went to visit her Dad in Stratford hospital and he is doing well. While she did this I hopped in the car to cruise the countryside destination St Jacobs farmer's market, just cause I could.

This market is always busy |

Mennonite lady selling Maple syrup |
At the market and going to brave the crowds for a while.
|
busy place? yep |
Now this place is zoo even in the winter, even vendors outside in this freezing cold weather. I waited in line for our Turkey sausage just in time to see the last of the fresh sausage being sold, but there has some frozen in 1lb bags. We love this Turkey sausage, so got 2 lbs of garlic and 1 lb of Maple Turkey sausage to try , that is supposed to be wonderful. Also picked up a large head of cauliflower for 2 bucks. Cauliflower pizza is one the menu soon !
No pics of the poultry vendor just too crowded, but got what we wanted.
|
these outside vendors must be frozen ! |
|
picked up a large head of cauliflower here for 2 bucks |
|
tours here too would be kinda cold I think |
Now head back, fuel the car and the parking lot is cleared of snow, ready for more tomorrow.
|
nice back roads back home |
Below is what I bought today, large cauliflower 2 bucks and 3 lbs. turkey sausage 15 bucks ( good for 6 meals and tastes amazing!
|
got some great food here |
Back home shortly after Suzie 3:30 pm, chatted for a bit, I repackaged the sausage and read for a while, then time for supper. Tonight, turkey garlic sausage (in the fry pan not my Weber Q :<( ) and a salad. But still very tasty. Love this turkey sausage !
|
the garlic sausage was amazing ! |
Now the weather gods have predicted -10c (14f) overnight and 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches) of snow tomorrow. Guess we'll find out if they are correct ( hope not ). Glad we got our furnace repaired in Quartzsite this winter and we have our Mr. Heater. We are toasty warm here when we come inside.
|
an early sunset, too cold to go out agaiun |
Love that you stopped by again and hope you are in warmer weather than we are, but hey summer is just around the corner right?. First corner we hope !
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Fall and Winter..
I'm cold just reading this. Definitely a good thing to have a furnace that works. I really would like to get to a farmers market but I just can't handle the crowds.
ReplyDeleteI don't much care for crowds either, if I would have thought of it earlier the market is not crowded at all until about 10 am,
DeleteThat cauliflower would have cost you a fortune here. I saw a very small one the other day at $4.85!! Yours would have fetched 8-9Bucks here. No kidding you need to win the lottery for that.
ReplyDeleteWe have gotten some warmer weather 6-8C and finally some sunshine to go with it. Much needed for a feel of spring.
There is some good deals to be had at the farmer's market, If I can use it and have room I will buy it , but I did not look around at some of the crowded vendors.
DeleteWill be warmer this week.
It's cold here in 'the tropics' of southern Indiana but my crystal ball shows temps in the 70's (F) by this time next week. Strange to see a pile of snow in April. That turkey sausage sounds good.
ReplyDeleteTemps in the 70's would be perfect!, won't be that here for a while.
DeleteWhat a great market to have nearby. Hope the warm weather, or at least spring, is right around the corner. We are in Tennessee and we have a freeze warning for overnight. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteIt is an excellent market, people travel from far away to visit here, and busloads most Saturdays as well.
DeleteYou guys keep warm too, soon be summer, right ?
Glad all of your heating equipment is working well. Surely it will warm up soon - supposed to be 15F warmer here today.
ReplyDeleteWe are warm but looks like our water pump froze overnight, not the first time though.
DeleteI'd love that market! You give me ideas for dinner (yes, including your chicken soup)... and I've been wanting to make that cauliflower pizza crust. Maybe this week...
ReplyDeleteYes you would love this market it is amazing.
DeleteGlad you got a few ideas from me, I always looking o make something interesting that we like.
I have been waiting for a good price on Cauliflower to make it.
We finally lost those hot days but not sure I'm ready for cold days either. However, April is half over so it's likely to start getting pretty hot in Arizona and staying that way. Maybe it is time to start the trek north.
ReplyDeleteAt least it cooled down a bit for you, best wait for a bit before heading north if you don't have to.
DeleteStill too cold here, but will warm up in a few days.
We know how you feel about the cold temperatures but the weather guessers are showing a big change starting by next weekend.
ReplyDeleteKeep Warm, Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Yup getting much warmer soon.
DeleteDo you use a food saver vacuum system to package your meat?
ReplyDeleteNo, but have looked at them, most are pretty expensive or bulky. I use zip lock freezer bags and a straw to suck out the air. Most of our food is not in the freezer long enough to get freezer burn.
DeleteKeep warm....! Summer is slow to come for you guys.
ReplyDeleteWe are warm, our coach is not though, gonna warm up this week and will be awesome !
