clic a pic to enlarge it

Just another wonderful overnight and morning here at the Hot Springs n Holtville California. Our last morning here and  enjoyed some very night walkabouts tarring at 6:30 as the su  was beginning to rise. No rush today we heading out after 8:30 so we have lotsa time to putter around.
All set to go with Bill and Patsy we pulled out about 8:40 am taking some back roads to Quartzite rather than the interstate.  Through Glamis and the northern part of the Imperial dunes and enjoying the roller coaster roads along the way. At least I did.
we had maybe 10 miles of these dips
not boring
our last sunrise here, not really awesome.
West of here for a bit and S33 that Bill rated as a 3 , slow going bumpy for about 10 miles then on 78 the road smoothed out and all was good again.
passed all this farm land and bales of hay
everywhere
red leaf lettuce
The crops are being harvested every day, but not today, Sunday .
A 2 lane road for most of the morning love the scenery here along 78.
a few cattle here in the desert
then through the dunes again.
love these roads
and the scenery
Stopped at Palo verde county park for a stretch, nature call and and water Clemson
we have camped here a few times right beside the Colorado river years ago
used to be free, but no more used to be free :<(
this was our view when we camped here
Soon onto I-10 east to Quartzite and down Keuhn st past the vendors , not too busy yet then south to the LTVA area for a bit.
yep we in Quatszite
one of my favourite spots La Posa West, not too busy yet
We found a nice spot then a  bite for lunch before getting all set up with the time change to Arizona it was about 1p,m local time so lunch was needed. Then I whipped into Q to 2 of my favourite grocery stores The General store for some smoked pork chops and a head of Lettuce, fresh mushrooms then the Roadrunner market for a chicken for supper and English cucumber.
Quartzite General store
Roadrunner Market
Back to home dirt and set up our Satellite Dish, and Weber Q, prepped our Chicken and set in on the grill , low and slow does the trick.
Started a new book on my e-reader
then time for Happy hour with Bill and Patsy
while our chicken cooked
We had a nice travel day only a couple of hours and settled into a nice spot for a bit. Our new "Home Dirt" in the desert.
Patsy, Clemson and Bill
we Happy
soon our chicken done to perfection
and I whipped up a salad
chicken and a salad lots of leftovers, soup in the future
a quiet desert sunset but we will have many more
nice travel day 112 miles
There ya go we are relocated again not our original plan but we do need something here in Quartzite , need to help out the local economy ya know.
More great weather and a nice travel day, more hanging our in the desert here in the southwest that we love, , Warm , no rain, no snow, and usually full sun. What more can we ask for.
Thanks for taking the time to stop on by.

  1. Welcome to Quartzsite. Love those roads, but Miss Kitty doesn't. I really enjoyed the pics of the dunes. Going to head that way a bit later to say we've at least seen them. Chicken looks excellent.

  2. Always nice to have a plan B. The best part is it usually doesn't matter what the plan is as long as in the end you are parked in a spot where you can relax and just enjoy the wonderful desert.

  8. We love Reacher stories and use the audio versions when we are on the road. Suzie gets a lot of use out of that foot stool you made.

  12. Love those back roads, so much better than the freeway. The ups and downs are familiar from my childhood trips to the desert when I lived in Southern California. I loved them. Glad to see you all back in Quartzite, and the group is growing. Not sure we will make it, but if we do, we will look you up.
