Where are we today ?
Cool overnight as usual but it warms up pretty quickly when the sun sunrises. I head out to the store first thing before the traffic starts to pick up a few items for the day. I get to enjoy the desert sunrise while driving about town,

At the Roadrunner grocery spotted this nice 1963 VW bug in excellent condition. Chatted with the owner for a while, he is on the 4th engine, but the body is still in great shape, I had 3 of these a 1959, 1960 and a 1973, Easy to fix but in Ontario the salt just ate the bodies up way too fast. He was from Oregon.
|
heading back home after 9 am and the traffic is backing up pretty quickly |
Below stopped and chattted with the owners of this 1950 Flxible Motor coach that they converted to a one of a kind RV. He had lots of info on the conversion they did.
|
nice looking coach |
After lunch I hopped on my bicycle and rode over to the Roadmaster service centre to check their hours. Too much traffic to drive the car. I will take our tow bar over to be checked out and serviced tomorrow. A free service they supply at all the rv shows.

lotsa traffic here for the show still |

We relaxed for a bit with our books and more friends dropped by. Ron and Laurie from Rock Glen Resort in Ontario. have not seen these guys for quite a while. So we got together with the rest of the crew and had a wonderful chat session with everyone sharing stories and lies like we all do.

Once they headed back to their free site at Dome Rock, the six of us headed to the Grubstake for a fish and chip dinner.
We got there at 4pm and they very busy. So we put our names on the list had a few adult beverages, finally got a table with over and hour wait (we in no hurry anyway) gotta be somewhere, enjoying the great weather and telling more stories.

Don't come here if you are in a hurry, its not gonna happen. But we did get excellent fish, though they were sold out of fries, we had to have tater tots instead.
|
the fish was excellent |

Suzie had very tasty scallop |
We finally got back to home dirt shortly after 7 pm, satisfied after a tasty meal and great social time.
Then we can call it a night, inside, post the blog and watch a bit of the tube.
Another fun day in the desert with more friends dropping on by. Thanks for stopping by for a peek, hope you had a great day too.

It's not hard to have a great time in Quartzsite. With all the people around and things to do, we're just busy all the time. Enjoy!! Traffic will ease off after the Big Tent closes.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, will be nice when most everybody goes away.
DeleteWoooHooo... at the rate your "patio" fills up with folks, either you're gonna have to expand it or that Q. show better be over soon ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe whole desert is our patio, lotsa room.
DeleteSunday is the last day of the show, so will be quieting down soon.
What a cool old bus!! I have a 1959 VW given to me by a family friend--my bug needs some restoration work but runs well.
ReplyDeleteThey are fun cars to drive and easy to fix too. Enjoy it.
DeleteI am so missing Q this year. :c(
ReplyDeleteWe had our Roadmaster tow bar overhauled there in 2012. Yes, it is free, but a $40 tip is recommended for the tech. Still well worth it, my tow bar is still better than new after two years of use.
Ours gets checked every year, and still like new after 8 years full timing.
DeleteLove that ole VW-bug. Had one new in 1974, but wasn't the good old quality anymore.
