Now finally in Benson Arizona and its awesome!

Where are we today ?
Well camp Walmart in Deming worked out great for us again. Early, morning computing and coffees, when the sun came up a walkabout the parking lot then inside the 24 hour Super Walmart.
Shortly after 8 am we decided to secure our coach and get on the road, a perfect travel day! Not too cold, clear skies, no fog  no rain, no ice and no sleet, love it !
heading west on I-10
love the endless desert and train that go forever
Arizona, the Grand Canyon state
We have fallen in love with Arizona over the years. Been to many states in many winters but there is something about Arizona that just keeps us coming back. Last winter did not make it this far and really missed it. Either you love this south west desert country or you have hate it! We love it and will continue to travel here as long as our health will allow it.
Texas Canyon rest area, just beforeBenson, AZ.
will those rocks fall ?
A few miles down the road we arrived at our destination, Valley Vista RV Resort in Benson. Nothing fancy but a place we enjoy, membership camping but expensive for us, the cost us $12.00 a night, includes cable tv.
We here ! Yahoo....
Our original plan was to be here 5 nights then down the road to St David for 7 nights. But because of our 3 day weather delay we decided to stay here for 9 nights. Just cause we really enjoy Benson. Don't care if its hot or cold we can relax here. We have toured this area for many year so no need to rush around and do stuff. Will see what the spirit moves us, and we have Arizona sunshine!
Our first Saguaro cactus this year right here.
nice cactus garden by the office
excellent out door pool, 85f
we have a wonderful secluded sunny site too
Well if you remember previous posts we mentioned our friends John and Barb stranded on I 20 in Texas in different areas than we were, they are at this campground too. We finally got to meet up with them. First time since last summer in Ontario. So an afternoon happy hour is in order. We survived this crazy winter ordeal and made it to sunny Arizona.
we had some stories to share thats for sure
Now something the we have been craving for quite a while is the Broasted chicken that we can get right here next to the campground at Junction Express. So we ordered our meals and come back about 20 minutes later.  Excellent fresh made broasted chicken, fries and coleslaw. We look forward to this every time we are in the area, maybe even again before we leave!
we enjoyed a nice meal together
nice travel day to Benson Arizona today
That was it for our fun day. Short travel day only 168 miles here before noon, all set up and not cold, no snow, sleet, freezing rain, wind or fog and a wonderful 60f ( sure better than the 15 f we have been having) does it get much better?  Think not after what we just went through. At least we have clear blue sunny skies.
Now we have been coming to this area for years, not sure what more we want to see again, but am sure we will find things to do if we care to explore some more.
Thanks for stopping in here to see where we have finally settled for a few days, nice to have warmer weather and be back in Arizona again.

  6. Now that you're safe and sound and out of that ice, we can all stop worrying about you. I agree with your comment about Arizona. Some people love and those that don't, hate it. We lived in Arizona for a very short time years and years ago. I hated it then. Right after we retired we moved back to Arizona. I saw it through different eyes. We like being in Arizona during the winter but still hate it during the summer. We love the cactus and we love the deserts.

    1. Would not want to be here in the summer but the winter and the desert does have a very strong appeal for us.

  7. Looks like you're quite content right there! You're not too far from Ramsey Canyon... (real close to Tombstone ;-)... great birding there.

  10. Hoping the sun also brings on the heat. Yuma is starting to warm up....but ever so slightly.
The Benson area is a lovely place to set up for many days. There is, as you so well know, so much to see and do out there.

  11. Yeah! Good for you. Now it is just to go on enjoying it all.
I thought the same when we stopped at Texas Canyon. These boulders are weird.
When we stopped in Benson it was usually at the Red Barn Campground. I think it is close to the one you choose.
