Where are we today ?
We arrived in Glen Rose almost two weeks ago and been enjoying a nice quiet relaxing time here. From hot weather in the 80s to freezing water lines at night, but this is Texas and that is to be expected.Shortly after arriving in town we got a comment from Sharon and Bill (The Odd Essay) welcoming us to Glen Rose. Fellow Bloggers and fulltime Rv'ers, they are staying at their daughter's house in town. Glen Rose is a small town Pop. 2,500, so they can't be too far away. Now over the years we have read each others blogs and seeing as we are so close, I think that we really have to meet these people.
So a couple emails, we arranged that they meet us here at Tres Rios and decide on a place to go grab a bite to eat for lunch, get acquainted ya know. They don't eat out much and neither do we so I checked out a few places in town and read reviews, we decided to check out The Green Pickle . The reviews were good and its a local place, (we like local places) if we eat out at all.

Well I tell ya these are awesome homemade 8oz burgers, juicy, greasy and messy but oh so tasty. I ordered the Jalapeno Cheesburger loaded with homemade fries, they had the Green Chili burgers and Suzie Grilled chicken sandwich. Yep it was good.
Ok we sure did have our filling, tasty, greasy burgers dripping, almost need a shower after eating these, but hey, none of us eat much beef and was actually a great experience. Guess the company had something to with that too.
After a couple hours here we enjoyed a nice narrated tour around Glen Rose and area (in their car) chatting all the time. A few science roads enjoying the drive that took us past Comanche Peak Nuclear power plant here, very interesting. But is a secure area can't get too close.
We chatted and chatted, about our past and future travels, other blogs that we both read. Suzie and Bill discussed their mutual passion with Genealogy, this conversation could go on forever. But eventually we were taken back home and they headed back on out after too short of a visit.
So nice to finally meet people that we have read about and chat face to face. As they departed we wished each other safe travels and a good warm winter. I am sure we will run into each other on down the road again. Thanks Bill and Sharon for a great day and a wonderful lunch!
Back to our house, it is hot, yep we like hot. Full sun about 100 degrees, and inside our house 86 degrees. Perfect we will enjoy it as long as we can. So walkabout a bit and even had time to read for a while too. No need to make supper after a lunch like that, think a bowl of popcorn will hit the spot.
It was warm enough to sit outside until it got too dark to read, then time to call it a night. Got some blogging to do.
Hey thanks so much for stopping by and hope maybe we can meet ya'll on down the road too.

Was a great day and the tour was a bonus too.
DeleteSo neat to meet up with Sharon and Bill. Those burgers DO look really good.
ReplyDeleteThe burgers were real good, best I have had in a long time.
DeleteHad to check out your blog after reading about your meet-up with Sharon and Bill. Looks like you all could have put on a little weight today!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently in Texas, too - Livingston at Escapees Rainbow's End. Check out my blog if you'd like ....
Thanks for stopping on by Mary-Pat
DeleteNo more food for the day have to work that off.
I will take a peek at what you are doing there in Livininston
So much fun reading BOTH blogs when fellow bloggers meet. One of the delights of this blogging thing and RV travel.
ReplyDeleteIt does make for a great lifestyle, meeting people interesting we would otherwise never meet.
DeleteSharon and Bill are such a super couple.
Meeting fellow bloggers is always fun. I might need some tums after that lunch:)
ReplyDeleteWe sure enjoyed the day, and surprisingly did not need tums.
DeleteI have read both of your blogs for awhile now...way cool to connect with other bloggers face to face!
ReplyDeleteWe will definitely check out the Green Pickle if we are ever in the area!
Enjoy your warm weather!
It was fun and The Green Pickle a very good, tasty messy burger, worth the visit.
DeleteI think a burger that size would take two meals to eat! Your time there is short. Depending on how far you go on your next leg of the journey, you might just start getting into much warmer weather too.
ReplyDeleteIt will get cooler before it gets warmer, but will be fun nonetheless.
DeleteWell, if I'd known you were back there taking pictures I'd have slowed down a little ;-) We had a great time meeting you and Suzie.... and I didn't even have to fix dinner as those burgers really were that big! Really, though... I need to learn how to put a link in my blog.
ReplyDeleteNo problem Sharon will see what I can do about the link thing for you.
DeleteHow wonderful for you to meet another blog couple. I read both you blogs so that makes it extra special. Quite the meal for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how we meet up with other people along the way and lotsa fun too.
DeleteGlad to see you got to meet Sharon and Bill as I'm a follower of their blog too.
ReplyDeleteI don't think those burgers would even fit on your Weber, would they??
Kinda cool to meet up with Sharon and Bill ,on the road.
DeleteSure I could cook them on Our Weber, but maybe only about 6 at a time.
This was a nice treat.
