Where are we today ?
Now once again just another awesome day, sunshine and almost hot, well at least it is sunny and warm hi 60's lower 70's, yep we can deal with that!
At 9 am we have the fresh made cinnamon buns, right out of the oven at 9am. Can't go anywhere until we share one of these.
Us three guys headed up there at 9am get the hot buns for the women we love. Gotta keep them happy ya know ( Happy wife happy life!)

my half of a hot cinnamon bun |
Now cinnamon buns done we can head out in John and Barbs SUV to Mexico, 5 seat belts six people, hmm. Suzie sit on my lap. But we only have about 2 miles to go and it is $6.00 per car to park.
Not a problem all is good and we had a pretty decent day for weather. high 60's f and overcast so great for wandering about.
Of course as soon as we cross into Mexico all the vendors jump right at you, really need to know how to say NO to these people. but is fun and annoying all at the same time.

Cheap drugs! Viagra "almost fee"! |
We just wandered about enjoying the atmosphere, and looking at fun things so see. There is some great deals to be had if you barter with these guys. Like $30.00 nope, barter back and forth and end up buying it for $10.00, just need to know what is a deal.
|

|
hmm, you can buy anything here |

We found the Taco guy again, fish taco $1.50, shrimp taco $1.75 Suzie and I had one of each. tasty and hit the spot!
|
Fresh made while we wait |
|
tasty lunch |
Then after a bite for lunch time to hit the huge square for some lively entertainment and an adult beverage. Monster margaritas (5 bucks) and ice cold Corona only 2 bucks. Listen to the music, chat and relax for a while after a fun morning here.
|
nice child's bicycle |
|
Security here is good |
Enough fun here in Mexico for today time to head back home and relax with our books for a while. Until time to enjoy a social hour with our friends to review the fun day we had.
|
Suzie got her doggie fix with Hank and Piper |
But then we have to whip up supper. Tonight a bacon wrapped fillet, baked potato, grilled zucchini and some mushrooms and onions in foil to top it off. Really hit the spot.

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Billy Bob, glad you could come along it was a fun time.
DeleteMe too ! Love all the color. We have never been to Mexico...thanks for the pictures. Those tacos sure looked good.
ReplyDeleteWe have been there many times and always enjoy it.
DeleteMe three ;) great pictures and narrative! and that CINNAMON roll ... man oh man
ReplyDeleteThe cinnamon roll was humungous !
DeleteHa! Fun and annoying all at the same time….. I'd say. Nice bike - bet Cassia would dig the purple! Yummmm - cinnamon buns. And great looking dinner as usual. Glad you had a good day!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun day, getting right into a little but of color there and checking things out.
DeleteBrought back memories to Joe and I too. We'll be back to Pilot Knob winter of next year. We're ready!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat weather here and fun things to see and do.
DeleteAnother great post and another tasty looking meal!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again Peter.
DeleteIt's funny that you think low 70's is almost hot, while Floridians think that's cold. : )
ReplyDeleteI never thought fish tacos sounded good, but I tried one a while back and were surprised how good they were.
If the sun is shinning and and temps above 60f it is wonderful. The vendors said we must be Canadian because of our uniforms=shorts.
DeleteThe fish and shrimp tacos are quite tasty.
You did a great job capturing the "flavor" of a border town.... they have a life all of their own! I love every one of them. And fish tacos! WhoooHoooo... my favorite!
ReplyDeleteYes every border town is different, we enjoy whatever ones we are near.
DeleteYes tasty fish tacos just hit the spot for a nice light lunch.
All in all a really hard day to endure!!!! What's the name of that spot in Mexico/Baja?
ReplyDeleteThe Mexican town is Los Algondones, just a few miles west of Yuma Arizona.
DeleteWhen we are in Mission, we love going to Mexico. We have found the people really nice.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with...to bargain or not to bargain. We have gotten some great deals. We also have passed up some not-so-good deals.
If its a good deal we will buy it, otherwise just pass it by.
DeleteEvery time I think I just might venture into Mexico I see a blogger post a bunch of great pics of a small border town with all the hustle and bustle and it makes me rethink my thoughts of visiting. Thanks for the tour, George, but I think I'll just look for a cinnamon bun and stay on this side of the border.
ReplyDeleteWe always enjoy the trip over there, much more fun than and American city.
DeleteNot as much fun as real Mexican small towns thou, love them.
Looked like another great day, did you pick up a new hat from the hat vendor? Will you guys be making a trip into Phoenix anytime soon?
ReplyDeleteNo more hats, I have enough already. We could be in the Phoenix area near the end of February, not quite sure yet, would like to meet up with guys if you are available.
DeleteThat would be great. Just let us know when you are in town and we will get together. Looking forward to it!
DeleteYes it would be, thats a long way away yet though, will see if we can do it.
Delete"Happy wife, happy life." That surely must be a wise proverb.
ReplyDeleteYes it sure is!
DeleteYou are right, you can buy anything there. Great tour.
ReplyDeleteLots of fun, no real Mexico but still fun.
DeleteYou sure are making us miss Mexico with this post. Up in the earlier comments you mentioned that Mexico is so much more fun than any American city and I think you are right on there. It's hard to believe that as soon as you cross the border you are in a totally different atmosphere, yet the two towns are so close. And yep, you are right the border town isn't the same as the real Mexican towns but it sure is the next best thing.

I miss it too so this little trip is kind like a fix me up.
Deletewe were supposed to go into Mexico at Progreso this morning but we are having the worst weather. It oured rain all day and our high was 7C! so it was great to see your photos. made us almost feel as if we had been there. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOops, excuse the typos, you know what I mean!!
