Where are we today ?
Our last morning here in Benson and another awesome sunrise. Just had to catch a few shots as it is rising over the mountains, just love it here.
Then turn around and watch the moon beginning to set in the west.

how's this for an everyday vehicle? |
Shortly after 8 am thru town to the Super Lube Plus, for a lube and oil on our coach. They take rv's up to 12 feet (we are 11 ft 9 inches). We have been coming here once our twice a year when we pass through Benson since 2006, great service!
Now onto I-10 westbound through Tucson. We attempted to stop at the
Camping World in Tuscon, but they had a tiny parking lot and no Rv Parking at all, nada, car parking only! There used to be, so we saved some money and they lost a sale because of it.
So on to
Picacho Peak Rv Resort to visit a few friends here. We had spent a month here three years in a row 2006-7 and 8 over Christmas. This time just 2 nights, say hi to a few friends and then carry on to Pilot Knob Resort, California for Christmas and New Years. This is not a membership park here $28.00 a night, thats why only 2 nights.

86 miles today |

love how they decorate the bridges down south here |
|
Picacho Peak in the distance |
We arrived about 11 am and pulled into the entrance of the resort. A very nice place that we are familiar with.
|
Our friend Steve was on the gate and guided us to our site |
|
love the scenery here |
|
pool and hot tub in the courtyard |
|
check in at the office |
|
Nice large site, full hookups and the Peak right behind us but we do get the road noise from I-10, we do get used to that real quick |
At 4 pm Steve was done his work stuff that he does here and we agreed to enjoy a Happy hour at Jan's, she has a nice patio here (park model) with a roof and wind covers. So we all got together, chat and try to catch up after two years away from here. Snacks and refreshments then eventually time to call it a night.

Time to head home for a light supper after happy hours snacks, a grilled cheese hit the spot.

Always nice to visit with friends. Enjoy your time there...sure looks nice. Love your view!
ReplyDeleteYep we having a good time here!
DeleteThere seems to be something inherently wrong with a Camping World that does not have RV parking. That is an odd message. I wonder what Marcus would say?
ReplyDeleteYeah really, something not right there.
DeleteWe stopped at that Camping World in Tucson the other day and you are right about the parking. Plus, any sizable parking they are taking up with RV's they have for sale. Funny thing though, we thought we would take a look at a few campers and they were all locked. Didn't want a salesman bugging us, so we said forget it. It isn't a very big store either. I went to buy a Camco socket for the water heater element just to have in case I ever needed it. They didn't even stock it. Looked around a bit and left. Only thing we bought was a $2. plastic bowl so Doug could get a drink of water (brought water, but forgot the bowl).
ReplyDeleteWe really like the art on the overpasses also.
It used to be a huge place when Beaudrys was there.
DeleteYou can get that socket at the Ace hardware in Benson, our friend John did last week when he changed his element.
We've been to that Camping World and you are right. It is one of the very few Camping Worlds without a lot for RVs! We stay at the Pilot Knob RV park a lot. We also stay at the BLM around it. Not sure where we'll be yet when you're there. Actually, not sure where we'll be after the 1st of January at all. Take care and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy the Pilot Knob Resort and the BLM land around it too.
DeleteWe not sure were will be either.
Looks like a nice spot. A little road noise isn't too much of a nuisance. Now, trains blasting away in the middle of the night? That wouldn't work for me.
ReplyDeleteNo train horns so not too bad.
DeleteWhat?!? No photos of dinner?
ReplyDeleteSorry Sharon it was just a plain old grilled cheese.
DeleteFabulous colors in your sunrise shots. What a show by Mother Nature. That Camping World is very difficult to shop at especially if you have your rig, I guess they just don't want the business of those passing through.
ReplyDeleteThanks those pics were not even touched up too.
DeleteSure not planned out very well.
Great sunrise shots, George. We've been getting those same colors at sunset here in Desert Hot Springs.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great spot you're at right now.
It is nice here, but like to keep going if we can.
DeleteCatching those beautiful morning sunrise pic's makes getting up early all the better. Nice looking resort your at. Sure has been a great winter so far for meeting up with old friends. Rain drops are falling on my head here in Southern Cal this morning. Have a great day!
DeleteLove the early mornings now matter what the weather. Don't mind rain either as long as its not freezing!
DeleteBeautiful pictures of the Arizona sunrises. I'm usually not up that early to catch them and appreciate your photos. We're going to have to give you a call otherwise we might just pass by each other without catching up. Maybe we can meet at Tombstone on a nice day.
ReplyDeleteTombstone is fun if we get back that way, let us know. We heading southwest right now to Yuma.
DeleteLooks like a nice park with a great view of the peak.
ReplyDeleteRight at the base of the Peak , wonderful.
