What's a Chelsea bun? and Pork ribs on our Weber Q.

Where are we today ?
I had mentioned yesterday that we stopped to visit with a friend and took a Chelsea bun from the Buckhorn bakery. Not thinking that this is an awesome bakery treat found mainly in the Muskoka area of Ontario Canada and not all of our followers are familiar with this amazing treat. You can read about it HERE. Years ago when we went to our cottage (near Collingwood, Ontario) on the weekend, a frequent treat for our family was one of these "Chelsea Buns" from the bakery in town. Had to be there early saturday morning to get one thou. They are awesome!
this is picture similar to the chelsea bun we had
Ok there you know a bit about chelsea buns. What did we do today? Hmm had lotsa plans but they just kinda slipped on by, by the time I got other stuff done. Started at 5:30 am  and still did not get everything done, coffees , computing, walkabouts, quick trip to Peterborough to the bank, Buckhorn to the grocery store, beer store,  home to make a quick bite for lunch. Clean up a few things then lets read for a bit, gotta get our priorities straight.
When at the store this great looking 1967  Camero convertible pulled in beside me. Of course I had to check it out. Talked to the elderly couple driving it (they looked old, but who am I to talk?) got some info. He bought if from a "rich" guy that had a whole barn full of cars in 1976 for $3,000.00 . It was originally red but he had it repainted then to this blue color he liked. Other than that all original "327" V8 engine with 63,000 original miles on it. They cruise about 5,000 mile a year and thoroughly enjoy it. Think I would too.
nice ride
After a bit of relaxing and reading Norm and Pat decided they would join us for a social hour at 2:30 today, was lotsa fun then shortly after 4 o'clock fired up our Weber Q thinking time to start supper.
Suzie and Billie jean having fun
Now to do our ribs on the Q we like to drop them in a foil pan with a few spices, sauerkruat and a few drops of water.  Wrapped with foil for about 40 minutes on the grill.
almost ready to cook
put taters in foil with onions on at the same time
low grill settings
after 40 minutes take ribs out of foil
add few grill marks
then slather with sauce turning
a few times until done to perfection.
Now to eat'em up, sticky tender melt in your mouth ribs, taters, sauerkraut, corn, baguettes heated a bit and wow so tasty!
That's it
Now just to enjoy a wonderful warm summer evening, chat with a few people walking by then think we can call it a night.
Sure love the long hot summer days in Ontario. I fall asleep before the sun sets, hmm must be getting old? Well I am, but have been falling asleep shortly after 9pm for over 30 years so not really much has changed, thats just me. Getting dark soon, go to sleep, sun comes up, gotta get outta bed.
Glad you could stop on by for a peak, hope you had a good day too, wherever you are.

  2. I love it that you put details on your cooking techniques. We've really been using our Weber more this year than probably every year together. Our ears and eyes are always open for great tasty foods on the barbecue.

  3. Chelsea buns look very similar to what we used to call cinnamon sticky rolls. YUMMY either way

  4. In my world, a convertible is RED. Red and white. Strange to think that in the sixties a Camaro was a "Compact" car. Well compared to the bigger full-size ones. Today, a Camaro seems rather huge.

    1. The Camero was a rather small car back then but still a sporty convertible.

  5. I wonder if you could get a part-time gig as a spokesperson for Weber - seriously. You certainly know your way around the grill and always have yummy results. :-)
