Rainy day and Tuna portions on the Weber Q.

Where are we today ?
Hmm, warm day but overcast and rain began before noon, just kinda carried on all day long, 7 pm and still raining. But we did have an afternoon of enjoying our books outside under our awning, pretty warm and the rain on our canopy we really enjoyed.
Mid afternoon Trish dropped by to chat for a while and we had a nice visit, just catching up with stuff.
rainy day again, but still nice
Now I can eventually start to prep supper. Tonight we gonna do some Tuna Steaks on the grill and I came up with the recipe below. Added a rice pilaf and corn on the cob done on our Weber Q 100.
This is recipe I found for grilling Tuna Steaks. All was good but they were dry, think a lot less time on the grill would be better. More like 1-2 minutes one side, turn over and 3 minutes on the other and would be awesome. Not matter all was very tasty.

Ingredients
 olive oil
Old Bay Seasoning

lime juice
lemon juice
tuna steak

Directions
  1. Combine Olive Oil, Old Bay, Lime and Lemon Juice.
  2. Mix Well.
  3. Pour over Tuna Steaks and marinade 20 minutes, turning occasionally.
  1. Make sure grill is hot – place steaks in hottest section and Sear steaks 1 to 2 minutes per side to seal in the juices.
  2. Finish cooking just slightly away from the hottest area – 8 to 10 minutes per inch of thickness. Maybe 3 minutes be better (next time).
this is what we grilled
looking good
very tasty thou
After supper enjoyed more rain and more reading and even had the sun shining on our site thru the rain drops.
Sure could worse, like colder, but still had a great relaxing day. hope you did too.
        Thanks for stopping by!

  3. We haven't turned the propane on in the RV for almost a month. Everything has been done on our Weber. We've been using a lot of Olive Oil. We did a tour of an olive oil place in California and learned a lot about the different oils. Thanks for the recipe. I'm always interested in what you put on the grill. Your recipes are simple, require few ingredients and look awesome.

    1. Good tasting food does not have to have complicated direction and lots of of ingredients.
      I like easy.

  4. Fish is always tricky to cook whether on a grill, baking or fry pan. Too long and it dries out quickly.

  6. I love tuna but no matter how I tried, I always overcooked it. Your method with the lemon and lime juice almost "cooks" it in the marinade so just a quick turn on the grill to dry it off and mark the sides might be just the way to go. My son, who cooked in a Vancouver restaurant for a while, does them nicely sushi style, barely searing them on all sides but sill raw in the middle. You must start with very good quality tuna in his case but it sure tastes good!

  8. Lucky you. We don't have that brand of packaged tuna here in the Okanagan and I have yet to find anything similar.

    1. Funny that tuna has a tracking number and tell us when and where it was caught and by who. Caught off the coast of British Columbia.

  9. Sounds delicious.
Weber-man! That hits the nail on the top! Like that.
Just want to know: who is cleaning the grill after use? It's not the one who uses it in our family. That's what I hate the most. I rather wash up the dishes. Do you have a good solution for that too?

    1. I cook on the grill and I clean it. This Weber is so easy to clean almost cleans itself.
First off I never scrub the grill , it is seasoned like a cast iron fry pan. Just preheat, 15 minutes or more and scrub it a bit with a stainless steel brush, Works awesome and nothing sticks.
I use it every day and spend about 30 minutes twice a year to clean it up so easy.

    2. So, we must do something wrong. The water is black-black, my apron spotted with black dots and the rubber gloves are greasy when I clean the grill.
I guess I need to educate the Weber-cook in our household! ;)
      Thanks for the "know-how"!

    3. Almost 4 years never use water on my Weber, scape into the pan below and brush the grill good couple times a year, Preheat on high 15 - 20 minutes and ready to cook. Easy peasy. Its a BBQ and is seasoned with lots of flavours made sterile with preheating.
