Wellton, Arizona Market Place and excellent broasted chicken for lunch.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Quite cool overnight and about 38f at 5 am but our Mr Heater quickly warmed us up. After coffee and computing abit I took a drive about town only 2 miles away. Found the Del Sol grocery store (quite nice), some water fill stations , aluminum can recycling and a few other places , a nice small town.
About 7 am we had a wonderful sunrise right through the windshield of our coach. Beautiful colors to begin another great day.
what a great start to a desert day
A small plaza up the road with an Rv parts place, fast food and a chevron gas station.
love the water tower there
Shortly after 9 am we headed west into Yuma 25 miles to the Arizona Market place. One of our favourite Flea markets, so clean and quite large, lots of great vendors and mostly excellent prices. More vendors will arrive in the next few weeks.
heading through the Foothills to Yuma.
this the place
We are quite familiar with it and managed to get through the by 11:30 looking for some items and picked up a few deals that we wanted. We will be back I am sure.
so many vendors with Rv stuff and decent prices,
better than Quartzite

clothing bargains
lots of t-shirts

love this one !
fresh produce
the Wally's World, some good deals here as well
I got some 20 amp mini fuses 6 for a dollar
you want suff they probably have it here
Suzie still looking for a ring for her pinky finger
2 years now

not too busy yet
This vendor has Rv furniture I know Deb has been looking she might find what she wants here.

lots of vendors with chairs and mats
good prices on awnings and awning shades
cell phone syuff
This vendor has some amazing gourmet hot sauces. And .....
They had the 10 k gold Pinkey ring that Suzie has been looking for. Perfect, and 25 % off. We have been dealing with these people for 8 years now, so not a fly by night operation. Early Christmas present!!!
she finally found it !
more deals if you need them
got  a large head of cauliflower only 2 bucks
and this is fresh tight from the fields here
Ok about 11;30 , getting busy time for us to get outta here
Headed east on frontage road to Chicken on the run for lunch, We discovered them last year after Jim and Sandy recommended them for broasted chicken, and they are really good, plus a rather nice menu with great looking food as well a family run business for years.  The broasted chicken almost as good as Anna Maes in Milbank Ontario, cooked to order tasty, very hot and juicy. They have burgers, fish, specials and even chicken livers a gizards Patsy !
this the place
battered mushrooms to start
3 piece chicken with fries and coleslaw for Suzie
me 3 pieces with fries and baked beans yummy
That was our fun morning then home by 1:30 pm, time to relax in the sun enjoying our page turners, Looks like no supper tonight after that amazing satisfying lunch.
Got a few walkabouts read for a while just checking out the area and the fresh desert air. No visible sunset tonight with heavy cloud cover usually mean a warm night in the desert. We finally came inside at 7 pm hands getting chilly only 60f (15c). I was into my book, so now inside to finish up this posting. We share a bit of popcorn and and an apple with a movie on the tube.
Did not get stuck again and thats a good thing (maybe a bit wiser? Maybe not or just lucky) once every 10 years not bad. But we sure had fun checking out some new areas and the Arizona Market place then an excellent lunch too take care of another craving.
Thanks for stopping in and hope your day was a great one as well.

  2. Love that market. Like you say good prices and lots of selection without the massive crowds of Q. What Mr Heater do you have and would you buy the same or bigger or smaller next time? We are going to buy one.

    1. It is a wonderful market and good deals to be had. Always fun. We have the Portable Buddy Heater perfect for is this size works perfect, we still have our furnace if we need back up. If we replace it would go to RV Lifestyles In Quartzite and get a Blue Flame, a bit more money but can be plumbed right inside to a low pressure propane line and have a thermostat. We have been using ours since 2007.

  4. I'd also like to know if that market is weekend only, is it like Quartzsite or just a typical market?

  8. Everybody ends up at the Market Place on a trip thru Yuma at some point in their travels. We stopped once, but I don't much care for the crowds it draws. You were smart to go early and then get the heck out of there.

  9. Beautiful sunrise! We haven't been to the marketplace but will have to visit when we're there, thanks for the good pics of it. Looks like it would be fun one time, and early! Glad Suzie got her ring she wanted. She has patience to wait 2 years for the perfect one! Chicken on the run sounds and looks awesome!

    1. Thanks guys it was a wonderful day. And that market is quite interesting, best to get in and out before it get too busy usual around 11 am or so like most of these places. Suzie is very particular when she want something it has to be right or she will not buy it.
Chicken on the run is a nice place that we enjoyed, good service reasonable prices and good food. Not often we go back to a place if it is not good I am too fussy after running my own restaurant for 10 years.

  10. Wow, such great sunrise photos, I don't see many of those. You should get a commission for all your advertising for the Arizona Marketplace.
