  1. If you like shrimp pick up some at the Rocky Point stand next trip. Their Blue Shrimp are from Puertocitos, awesome! (no shrimping allowed now north of San Felipe). Or stop by and put a few on the bar-b to share :) ... Ajo (Garlic) is making a marvelous recovery since the closure of the mine. What a fun little town, always worth a stop.

    2. We will pickup some shrimp for sure and do love them, the problem is they are all frozen, in Algodones we can get the fresh which we prefer.
Like you said Ajo is a nice funky town recovering quite well.

  4. "Dry air, no bugs, and sunshine" - that does sound darn good. Those mines sure leave some ugly scars. It's been a while since our last meatloaf and now you have me wanting some.

    1. This is the reason we enjoy this part of the country. Meatloaf is a nice treat and of course meatloaf sandwiches too.

  5. Next time in Ajo, if you haven't stopped into the museum you should. I have stopped twice and have enjoyed talking to the local volunteers. They are exceptional to talk to. More history of the mine and what their life was like when it was operating.

  6. WE have a pit mine like that here in Yerington. So sad what happens when the mining stops. Again, beautiful pictures and that meatloaf looks wonderful. I have used your recipe before and it's awesome!

    1. It is sad but the copper mining is very necessary for our everyday lives, A lot of the mines have programs in place to reclaim the land. Glad you enjoyed the recipe , we love it too.

  8. Another great day in paradise.
Your meatloaf looks yummy. Is it sitting right on tinfoil and then your trivet is also foil covered? Sounds easy!

  9. Definitely warmer there than here but it's still beautiful during the day, nights get comparatively cold though. Still warmer than home so we'll take it.

    1. You are in much higher elevation there so it will be cooler. Don't mind the cold nights though good for sleeping.
